Abstract
A greeting card displayer having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion perpendicular to the vertical portion, a hook which is attached to the vertical portion of the display, and an insert panel which has a greeting card attached thereto and gets inserted onto the display. The displayer is operative to be inserted onto (over card retainer of) a greeting card display and to highlight specific cards, such as, for example, pop-up greeting cards.
Claims
1. A greeting card displayer comprising: an L-shaped body having a vertical portion, and a horizontal portion contiguous with and forming a 90-degree angle with respect to the vertical portion, each of the vertical and horizontal portions having a channel at each distal end, opposite the 90-degree angle, the channel running the entire length of the vertical and horizontal portions of the L-shaped body; a hook which is contiguous with and extends outward from an outer surface of the vertical portion of the L-shaped body; and an L-shaped insert panel having a vertical panel and a horizontal panel contiguous with and perpendicular to the vertical panel, wherein a portion of the vertical panel is inserted into the channel at the distal end of the vertical portion of L-shaped body and a portion of the horizontal panel is inserted into the channel at the distal end of the horizontal portion of the L-shaped body; wherein the L-shaped insert panel is operative to have a greeting card secured thereto.
2. The greeting card displayer of claim 1, wherein the hook is operative to clip onto the front panel of a greeting card tier.
3. The greeting card displayer of claim 1, wherein the insert panel is interchangeable.
4. The greeting card displayer of claim 1, wherein the insert panel can be used for advertising or graphical elements.
5. A greeting card displayer comprising: an L-shaped body with a vertical portion and a horizontal portion perpendicular to the vertical portion, the vertical and horizontal portions creating a 90-degree angle therebetween; a hook attached to an outer surface of the vertical portion of the L-shaped body; a first channel located at one end of and spanning the entire length of the vertical portion of the L-shaped body and a second channel located at one end of and spanning the entire length of the horizontal portion of the L-shaped body; an L-shaped insert panel which is inserted over an inner surface of the vertical and horizontal portions of the L-shaped body and which is held in place by the first and second channels; wherein the horizontal portion of the L-shaped body is longer than the vertical portion.
6. The greeting card displayer of claim 5, wherein the hook is operative to be placed over a front sham of a greeting card row.
7. The greeting card displayer of claim 5, wherein the L-shaped insert panel is interchangeable.
8. The greeting card displayer of claim 5 further comprising a notch attached to the outer surface of the vertical portion of the L-shaped body.
9. The greeting card displayer of claim 5, wherein the hook is contiguous with the vertical portion of the L-shaped body.
10. A greeting card displayer comprising: a body having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion perpendicular to the vertical portion, creating a substantially L-shaped body; a first channel located on and running the entire length of the horizontal portion of the body opposite an intersection between the horizontal and vertical portion of the body; a second channel located on and running the entire length of the vertical portion of the body opposite the intersection between the vertical and horizontal portion of the body; an insert panel having a vertical portion and a horizontal portion perpendicular to the vertical portion, creating a substantially L-shaped insert panel; wherein the horizontal portion of the insert panel is inserted into the first channel and the vertical portion of the insert panel is inserted into the second channel; an upside-down U-shaped channel located on a rear surface of the vertical portion of the body.
11. The greeting card displayer of claim 10, wherein the insert panel is operative to have a greeting card attached thereto.
12. The greeting card displayer of claim 10, further comprising an upside-down U-shaped channel located on a rear surface of the vertical portion of the body that is operative to be attached to a front panel of a greeting card tier.
13. The greeting card displayer of claim 10, wherein the insert panel is interchangeable.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED AND ALTERNATE EMBODIMENTS
(10) The greeting card display (hereinafter referred to as “the displayer”) 10 of the present disclosure and related inventions displays and highlights cards 12 and can be attached to a card retainer on a variety of different greeting card fixtures 14. The displayer 10 can accommodate the presentation of a variety of different greeting cards 12 by allowing for different insert panels 16.
(11) The displayer 10 has an L-shape with a first or vertical portion 10A and a second or horizontal portion 10B contiguous with and perpendicular to the first or vertical portion 10A. Each of the first and second portions 10A, 10B of the displayer have a first end and a second end. The first and second portions connect at the first end, forming a 90-degree angle. There is a small u-shaped channel at each distal (or second) end 10C, 10D of the first and second portions 10A, 10B. These channels 10C, 10D are used to hold an insert panel 16 in place on the displayer 10. In one embodiment, the first or vertical portion 10A of the displayer 10 is approximately 6-inches long and the second or horizontal portion 10B of the displayer 10 is approximately 4.5-inches long. The second panel 10B extends past the connection point with the first panel 10A approximately 0.25-inches, as can be seen in
(12) The displayer 10 of the present disclosure and related inventions is particularly useful for displaying pop-up or three-dimensional cards at retail. Typically, these cards must be removed from the card tier and opened to view the inside of the card and the pop-up structure. The displayer 10 facilitates the display of these hard-to-display greeting cards at retail. To display a greeting card 12 upon the displayer 10, the greeting card 12 must first be attached to an insert panel 16. The insert panels 16 are sized to be able to fit within the channels 10C, 10D at the second ends of the first and second panels 10A, 10B of the displayer 10 and also thick enough to create a friction fit within the channel 10C, 10D to avoid the insert panel 16 from inadvertently being removed from the channels 10C, 10D. The insert panels 16 may be of different widths, depending on the type of greeting card 12 displayed, how the greeting card 12 is staged with regard to presentation, and how the greeting card 12 functions. For example, a pop-up greeting card 12 may be fully opened and attached to the insert panel 16 (along the second or horizontal display panel 10B), as shown in
(13) The foregoing embodiments of the present invention have been presented for the purposes of illustration and description. These descriptions and embodiments are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise form disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above disclosure. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principle of the invention and its practical applications to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention in its various embodiments and with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is intended that the invention be defined by the following claims.
