2. The retention device according to claim 1, wherein said multi-hook-fastener strap comprises segments, which more rigid than a rest of said multi-hook-fastener strap, spaced from each other along a length of said multi-hook-fastener strap.

3. The retention device according to claim 1, wherein one side of said base comprises a multi-hook fastener.

4. The retention device according to claim 1, wherein said base of said multi-hook-fastener platform is constructed of a relatively rigid material and said multi-hook-fastener strap is constructed of a relatively flexible material.

5. The retention device according to claim 2, wherein said segments comprise inserts in said multi-hook-fastener strap.

6. The retention device according to claim 3, wherein said strap receiving member is spaced from said base so that said multi-hook fasteners of said multi-hook-fastener strap and said multi-hook fasteners of said base share a common plane.

7. The retention device according to claim 3, wherein there is a concave spaced between said strap receiving member and said base.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

[0025] Reference is now made to FIGS. 1A and 1B, which illustrate elements of a retention device 10, constructed and operative in accordance with a non-limiting embodiment of the present invention.

[0026] FIG. 1A illustrates a multi-hook-fastener platform 12, which includes a strap receiving member 14 and a base 16. FIG. 1B illustrates a multi-hook-fastener strap 18 of the retention device 10.

[0027] The base 16 of multi-hook-fastener platform 12 may be constructed of a relatively rigid material, such as plastic or other suitable material. One side (preferably the underside) of base 16 includes a multi-hook fastener, such as a male VELCRO fastener (marked 20 in FIGS. 4A and 4B). The strap receiving member 14, which may also be constructed of a relatively rigid material, is formed with a series of adjacent slots 22 through which the strap 18 can be threaded.

[0028] Strap 18 may be constructed of a relatively flexible (that is, preferably more flexible than base 16) material, such as cloth (woven or non-woven), leather, plastic and others. At least one side of strap 18 includes a multi-hook fastener 24, such as a male VELCRO fastener. Strap 18 includes relatively rigid segments 26 (that is, more rigid than the rest of strap 18) spaced from each other along the length of strap 18. The relatively rigid segments 26 may be less rigid than, equally rigid as, or more rigid than base 16 or strap receiving member 14. The relatively rigid segments 26 may be inserts in the strap 18 or may be externally attached to strap 18. The relatively rigid segments 26 provide strap 18 with stiffness in one direction, but the strap 18 is still very flexible in other directions. This facilitates weaving (threading) strap 18 through slots 22. Accordingly, the segmented locking strap 18 interacts with the slotted strap receiving member 14 to adjust to any size weapon accessory and lock that accessory in place.

[0029] Reference is now made to FIGS. 4 and 4B. The strap receiving member 14 is preferably spaced (e.g., is higher or arched) from base 16. For example, the strap receiving member 14 may have a concave space between it and base 16. In this manner, the multi-hook fasteners 24 of the strap and the multi-hook fasteners 20 of the base 16 share a common plane; the multi-hook fasteners 24 of the strap do not bulge out or interfere with the multi-hook fasteners 20 of the base 16.

[0030] The multi-hook fastener 20 of base 16 can be attached to any complimentary multi-hook fastening surface 30, such as but not limited to, backpack linings, adhesive backed VELCRO surfaces (that can be glued to car doors, furniture, walls, etc.).

[0031] The strap 19 may serve as a concealed carry weapon (CCW) strap that can be used as an artificial belt for retaining holsters, pouches and other weapon accessories designed for attachment to a belt or clothing. The user can retain or attach the same pouches, holsters and other weapon accessories to the strap as would be done for attachment to a belt or clothing.

[0032] Reference is now made to FIGS. 5A-5D, which illustrate some non-limiting examples of using the retention device 10 of the invention.

[0033] FIG. 5A illustrates the retention device 10 being used to retain a holster 50, in which the strap 18 goes through belt slots 51 formed in the holster 51.

[0034] FIG. 5B illustrates the retention device 10 being used to retain a holster 52, in which the strap 18 goes through a belt holder 53 of the holster 52.

[0035] FIG. 5C illustrates the retention device 10 being used to retain holster 52, in which the strap 18 goes through the belt holder 53 and another portion of the strap 18 is threaded through other slots 22 of the strap receiving member 14 and is able to retain other weapon accessories.

[0036] FIG. 5D illustrates the retention device 10 being used to retain a magazine holder 54.
