DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

(14) In the following description of the different embodiments according to the invention, components and elements which have the same function and the same mode of operation have been provided with the same reference numerals, although the components and elements in the different embodiments can differ in dimension and shape.

(15) FIGS. 1 and 2 show a first embodiment of an attachment 2 according to the invention for a base jaw 4, shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, of a pressing tool for pressing fittings to produce pipe connections. In this respect, in each case two base jaws 4, together with two attachments 2, form a pressing jaw of a pressing tool.

(16) The attachment 2 has an attachment body 6 on which a pressing section 8 is formed to form half of a jaw opening 10. The jaw opening 10 forms the receiving area for the fitting which is to be pressed (not shown) in that the inner pressing surface or pressing contour 12 receives the fitting, rests against said fitting and during pressing, at least partly deforms it. Furthermore, a connecting section 14 is formed on the attachment body 6 for a connection to the base jaw 4.

(17) A combined study of FIGS. 1 to 5 shows that the attachment body 6 forms the entire distal section of the assembled pressing jaw, consisting of attachment 2 and base jaw 4. Therefore, by suitably configuring the structural shape of the attachment body 6, the distal section of the pressing jaw can be configured so that it is easier to handle the pressing jaw, particularly in the case of fittings which have small nominal widths.

(18) Furthermore, the pressing section 8 and the connecting section 14 are arranged at a distance from one another. Thus, the interface between the attachment 2 and the base jaw 4 is separated from the pressing section 8. In addition, the connecting section 14 forms an interface with the base jaw 4, which interface is substantially planar at least in sections.

(19) As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the pressing section 8 is formed integrally with the attachment body 2. Thus, each attachment has a predetermined pressing section 8 with a pressing surface or pressing contour 12 of a predetermined nominal width.

(20) As will be explained in the following, the connecting section 14 has connection means for a form-fitting, twist-proof and releasable connection to the base jaw 4. These connection means are configured in the form of a female part or male part; thus they correspond to one another.

(21) In the embodiment of the attachment 2 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the connection means can be brought into engagement with the connection means formed on the base jaw 4 by a rotational movement. For this purpose, the connection means have a cylindrical cavity 16 for receiving a cylindrical pin 18 formed on the base jaw 4, see FIGS. 3 and 4.

(22) Furthermore, the connection means have an undercut positioning element 20 and a limiting element 22 which cooperate with a corresponding positioning element 24 and with an undercut limiting element 27 on the base jaw. The undercut positioning element 20 of the attachment 2 comprises an abutment surface that contacts a corresponding abutment surface of the undercut positioning element 24 of the base jaw 4 and the limiting element 22 of the attachment 2 comprises an abutment surface that contacts a corresponding abutment surface of the limiting element 27 of the base jaw 4. The abutment surface of the undercut positioning element 20 of the attachment 2 and the abutment surface of the limiting element 22 of the attachment 2 face in opposite directions. The abutment surface of the undercut positioning element 24 of the base jaw 4 and the abutment surface of the limiting element 27 of the base jaw 4 face in opposite directions.

(23) FIG. 5 shows that by inserting the cylindrical pin into the cylindrical cavity (both hidden), the attachment 2 is positioned at the base jaw 4 in a rotated position so that subsequently it can be brought into the end position by a rotational movement. As a result, the described connection means engage with one another and provide a twist-proof positioning of the attachment 2 on the base jaw 4.

(24) Finally, another fixing arrangement comprising a swivelable lever 26, fixed to the base jaw 4, and a cavity 26′, formed in the attachment body 6 is provided which, when the base jaw and attachment are joined together, fixes the base jaw 4 and the attachment body 6 in a releasable manner in the engaged position.

(25) The base jaw 4, shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, of a pressing tool for pressing fittings to produce pipe connections has, aside from the features described hitherto, a base jaw body 30 with an articulated seat 32 for a connection to a further base jaw 4, the seat 32 being formed as a hole for receiving a rotation axis. For this purpose, the pressing tool has two rotation axes or only one rotation axis, which are fixed by a bilateral holder. A more detailed description is provided below with reference to FIG. 12.

(26) Furthermore, the base jaw body 30 has an interaction section 34, configured here as a hole, so that it can be moved via a coupled lever (not shown). The interaction section 34 is configured to interact with a pressing tool which moves the described lever.

(27) The base jaw body 30 has a connecting section 36 for a connection to an attachment 2 shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, whereby the connecting section 36 being formed in a complementary manner to the connecting section 14 of the attachment 2 and having the previously described elements of cylindrical pin 18, positioning element 24 and limiting element 27.

(28) FIGS. 6 to 11 show a further embodiment of an attachment 2 and of a base jaw 4, where identical reference numerals identify identical elements, as previously described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 5.

(29) In this embodiment, the connection means can be brought into engagement by a linear sliding movement. For this purpose, formed on the attachment 2 on the connecting section 14 is an undercut positioning element 40 and a limiting element 42 which is also undercut, which can be seen in FIGS. 6 and 7.

(30) Corresponding to this, formed on the connecting section 36 of the base jaw 4 is a run-in rail 44 having a run-in contour 46, the insertion contour 48 and a limit 50. Thus, the run-in rail 44 of the base jaw 4 forms a guide for the positioning element 40 and for the limiting element 42 formed on the attachment 2.

(31) Finally, in this embodiment as well, a fixing arrangement comprising a spring-loaded ball 28, arranged on the attachment body 6, and a cavity 28′, formed at the base jaw 4 is provided to releasably fix the described connection means in their engaged position.

(32) FIGS. 10 and 11 show the connection of the previously described attachment 2 to the corresponding base jaw 4. FIG. 10 shows the insertion of the attachment 2 with the connecting elements 40 and 42, which can only be partly seen, into the guide rail 44 formed at the base jaw 4. In this respect, the positioning element 40 is guided through the insertion contour 48, while the limiting element 42 is brought into contact with the run-in contour 46. After being inserted, the attachment 2 is moved linearly with respect to the base jaw 4 in order to occupy the position shown in FIG. 11.

(33) FIG. 12 shows a system for pressing fittings to produce pipe connections, comprising three pairs of attachments 2 and one pair of base jaws 4. The base jaws 4 are assembled into a pressing jaw 66 by a holder 60 and two axes 62 and 64, and they can be actuated by a manual drive or motor drive of a pressing tool (not shown).

(34) Different pairs of attachments 2 have pressing sections 8 for jaw openings 10 of different nominal widths, and the pairs of attachments 2 have the same connecting sections 14. Thus, the attachments 2 are suitable to be connected to the one pair of base jaws 4.

(35) The attachments 2 of different pairs of attachments then have an overall size and outer contour which are adapted to the nominal width of the jaw openings 10 to be formed and which, in particular for small nominal widths, result in small overall sizes, especially in the region of the distal section of the attachment body 6 and in the region of the pressing section 8.
