SYSTEMS AND APPARATUS FOR COVERING AND CONCEALING PRINTED AND/OR HAND-WRITTEN TEXT, LETTERING, GRAPHICS, DRAWINGS, AND/OR MARKS ON ONE OR MORE SHEETS, PAGES, OR PAGES OF A BOOK.

Abstract

Systems and apparatus for covering, protecting, and concealing personal, private, confidential, and nonpublic information and/or covering and concealing printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more sheets, pages, or pages, of a book. The systems and apparatus can include a releasable, removable, or un-releasable binding device, tamper-evident features, labeling features, and binding components can be configured to fasten, connect, and/or secure covering devices and which can substantially rotate 360 degrees, fold back upon itself, lie flat when open and/or closed, and releasably cover personal, private, nonpublic, or other information, and/or cover and/or conceal printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more sheets, pages, or pages, of a book.

Claims

1. A system for releasably covering and concealing printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more sheets, pages, or pages of a book, comprising: a transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board wherein the strip, sheet, or board have a first face and a second face and four edges and wherein the first face and/or the second face are magnetic, or double magnetized (also referred to as two-sided), or have one or more magnetic components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers; and, one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards wherein the strips have a first face and a second face and four edges and wherein the one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards are sized slightly longer than a substantially transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board and wherein the first face and/or second face are magnetic, or double magnetized, or have one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers and wherein the one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards extend beyond one or more edges of the transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board as a handling tab and wherein the transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board can be positioned behind one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book, and one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards can be positioned on the reverse side of the same one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book to form a cooperating repositionable system to releasably magnetically adhere to cover and conceal printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book, and wherein the system can be removed from the pages, sheets, or pages of a book for reuse.

2. A system for releasably covering and concealing printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more sheets, pages, or pages of a book, comprising: a transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board have a first face and a second face and four edges and wherein the first face and/or the second face are magnetic, or double magnetized, or have one or more magnetic components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers; and one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards have a first face and a second face and four edges and wherein the first face and/or the second face are magnetic, or double magnetized (also referred to as two-sided), or have one or more magnetic components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers; and, one or more fastening or connecting components or elements that can join, connect, fasten, secure, or bind together one or more edges of one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards to one or more edges of a transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board and wherein one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards can rotate substantially 360 degrees to fold back upon the corresponding transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board and lie substantially flat wherein the transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board can be positioned behind one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book and one or more of the connected substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards can be rotated and positioned on the reverse side of the one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book to form a cooperating repositionable system to releasably magnetically adhere to cover and conceal printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more pages sheets, or pages of a book, and wherein the system can be removed from the pages, sheets, or pages of a book and rotated 180 degrees for reuse.

A system for releasably covering and concealing printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more sheets, pages, or pages of a book, comprising: a transparent to opaque strip, sheet, or board having a bendable center axis or living hinge comprised of a formed material having attachment edges or attachment halves and a flexing zone between the attachment edges or attachment halves; comprising, a transparent to opaque first attachment edge or attachment half and wherein the first face and/or the second face are magnetic, or double magnetized, or have one or more magnetic components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers; and a substantially opaque second attachment edge or attachment half comprising one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards and wherein the first face and/or the second face are magnetic, or double magnetized, or have one or more magnetic components or elements, or is comprised of two layers having one or more magnetic and/or double magnetized components or elements between the layers; and wherein a first attachment edge or attachment half can be positioned behind one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book, and wherein one or more substantially opaque strips, sheets, or boards of the second attachment edge or attachment half can rotate substantially 360 degrees to fold back over onto the reverse page, sheet, or pages of a book upon the first attachment edge or attachment half and lie substantially flat to form a continuous cooperating repositionable system to releasably magnetically adhere to cover and conceal printed and/or hand-written text, lettering, graphics, drawings, and/or marks on one or more pages, sheets, or pages of a book, and wherein the system can be removed from a page, sheet, or page of a book and rotated 180 degrees for reuse.

In yet another preferred embodiment, the magnetic covering device 112 comprises a substantially opaque covering device. In an embodiment, the double magnetized sheet is configured as a full standard letter size sheet in a portrait orientation with corresponding double magnetized strips. A user may include as many repositionable substantially opaque adhesive strips 140 as necessary over the information, records 120, or identification or signature authentication records 122 to cover private and nonpublic information during use of the journal 110. In an alternative embodiment, the repositionable substantially opaque adhesive strips 140 include a first tab 148 and a second tab 150 for ease of removal and repositioning of the repositionable substantially opaque adhesive strips 140. In another embodiment, the repositionable substantially opaque adhesive strips 140 are utilized to cover other information or records containing private, or nonpublic information such as, for example, a book title, newspaper title and/or article, magazine title or cover, page, note, material, notebook, file, form, accounting ledger, business journal, blank book, log, scientific record, guest book, sign-in sheet, record sheet, sign, billboard, easel paper, poster, book, general office stationary, manifold book, day book, diary, portfolio, other stationary etc.

Alternatively, the identifying label 101 (FIG. 4) can be attached utilizing mechanisms including but not limited to wire, ribbon, rope, string, security seal, magnetic seal, ring, single loop fastener pair 125, and/or similar connecting mechanism, wherein the identifying spine label 101 can hang freely from the covering device connector 119, spiral binding (not shown) or editable spine binder (not shown) which can allow the identifying spine label to also be used as a place marker.

In a preferred embodiment, the first side 130 and the second side 132 are connected with a combining device configured as a locking spine binder 119 to allow the covering device 112 to lay flat, and/or fold back upon itself, and configured to be non-removable without evidence, un-releasable, and to remain closed. In an alternative embodiment, other covering device connectors include for example, punch and bind spiral binding 160, editable spine binder, etc. that allow the covering device 112 to be bound yet lay flat when open and fold back upon themselves. To provide security and integrity to covering devices bound with punch and bind bindings and spiral bindings 160, 119, these type bindings are used in combination with a security feature such as a tamper-evident security seal inserted through at least one combining hole 138 of the plurality of papers and their covers. Alternatively, to provide security and integrity for punch and bind bindings the bindings include attaching a security device comprised as a bead 164 configured as a ball, square, rectangle, cube, oval, cabochon, marquise, baroque, barrel, polygon, octagon, tab, and/or other shape sized larger than a combining hole 138 to each end of the binding and configured to unrelease so that pages cannot be removed without cutting the binding or being tamper-evident once attached. In an embodiment, a security seal is inserted through at least one combining hole of the bound plurality of papers and their covers or a binding loop. The first side 130 and the second side 132 of the covering device 112 each include a plurality of holes 138 at the edge of each side 130, 132 for receiving the locking spine binder 119. In an embodiment, the locking spine binder 119 comprises a thin plastic strip configured to spiral through the holes 138 in each side 130, 132.
