Abstract
This present invention relates to an improved bedsheet system comprising a top bedsheet sewn together in part to a bottom bedsheet having an elastic perimeter to allow the bottom bedsheet to be securely tucked underneath the mattress to maximize stability, and prevent the bedsheet system from moving out of place throughout the night. The bottom bedsheet further comprises a pair of pillow pockets to accommodate conventional pillows and keep them in place, as well as a plurality of side pockets to hold personal items which may be easily accessed by the user throughout the night. The improved bedsheet system offers user convenience in making a bed, and eliminates the need to reapply standard bedsheets that fall off easily onto the floor after every use.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0024] The innovation is now described with reference to the drawings, wherein like reference numerals are used to refer to like elements throughout. In the following description, for purposes of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding thereof. It may be evident, however, that the innovation can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, well-known structures and devices are shown in block diagram form in order to facilitate a description thereof. Various embodiments are discussed hereinafter. It should be noted that the figures are described only to facilitate the description of the embodiments. They are not intended as an exhaustive description of the invention and do not limit the scope of the invention. Additionally, an illustrated embodiment need not have all the aspects or advantages shown. Thus, in other embodiments, any of the features described herein from different embodiments may be combined.
[0025] As noted above, there is a long felt need in the art for an improved bedsheet system that allows the bedsheet to remain tucked properly and neatly throughout the night, and in which both the functional aspect and user convenience have been considered in the design and manufacture thereof. Additionally, there is a long felt need in the art for a bedsheet system that comprises pillow pockets for retaining the pillows in proper position throughout the night, and that makes it easy and convenient for the user to make his or her bed after waking up. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for an improved bedsheet that comprises a plurality of convenient storage spaces for personal and other items that the user may require throughout the night, and that is relatively inexpensive to manufacture and both safe and easy to use.
[0026] The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is an improved bedsheet system that is capable of being fully secured around a mattress and that is comprised of a top bedsheet and a bottom bedsheet having an elastic material positioned along its entire perimeter, a pair of pillow pockets and a plurality of side pockets. Each of the pair of pillow pockets is positioned along an upper surface of the bottom bedsheet near the head end and is comprised of an opening therein for receipt of a pillow. Each of the plurality of side pockets is positioned along an upper surface of the bottom bedsheet and near its longitudinal edges so that items stored therein will hand over the side of the mattress or bed. The bottom bedsheet is oversized at the corners for further folding underneath the mattress, and the top bedsheet is sewn to the bottom bedsheet near the foot end (which is opposite to the head end) wherein the top bedsheet is smaller in size than the bottom bedsheet, but large enough to overlie a portion of the bottom bedsheet.
[0027] Referring initially to the drawings,
[0028] The top surface of the bottom bedsheet 102 is further comprised of two pillow pockets 106, 108 in which pillows are placed such that the pillows always remain stable within the pockets 106, 108. More specifically, the pillow pockets 106, 108 are placed near the head end or top end 1022 of the bottom bedsheet 102. Each of the pillow pockets 106, 108 have an opening therein that is sized such that pillows of different sizes and designs can be easily placed within the pockets 106, 108. One or more side pockets 110 are also present on the bottom bedsheet 102 to place small personal items for convenience of the user. The side pockets 110 are preferably present on the longitudinal sides of the mattress when the bottom bedsheet 102 is overlaid onto the mattress. More specifically, the bottom bedsheet 102 is preferably comprised of longitudinal sides 1024, 1026 having side pockets 110 with an opening therein, wherein the longitudinal sides 1024, 1026 cover the longitudinal sides of the mattress when properly installed.
[0029] Additionally, the bottom bedsheet 102 is preferably oversized such that it is easily tucked underneath the mattress for a secure fit and better stability. In one embodiment, the bottom bedsheet 102 may have a glove-like bottom end 1028 that fits securely around the mattress. Near the bottom end or foot end 1028 of the bottom bedsheet 102, the top bedsheet 104, which is similar in shape but may be smaller in size, is sewn to the bottom bedsheet 102 along the edge 120, wherein the edge 120 is preferably along the complete length of the bottom end 1028 of both the bottom sheet 102 and the top sheet 104, and perhaps slightly up the longitudinal sides 1024, 1026 of the bottom bedsheet 102.
[0030] In use, the bottom bedsheet 102 is placed on the top surface of the mattress and the longitudinal sides 1024, 1026 of the bottom bedsheet 102 abut along the longitudinal sides of the mattress. Further, the elastic or spandex edge 105 that is present along the entire perimeter of the bottom bedsheet 102 helps to better secure the bottom bedsheet 102 underneath the mattress. The single edge or seam 120 is considered as a line along which the top bedsheet 104 and the bottom bedsheet 102 are sewn together. The top bedsheet 104 is then placed over the bottom bedsheet 102 once the bottom bedsheet 102 is properly secured to the mattress, and the pillows have been inserted into the pillow pockets 106, 108. More specifically, the top bedsheet 104 is overlaid over the bottom bedsheet 102 to cover the pillows inserted into the pillow pockets 106, 108 and has dimensions such that the top bedsheet 104 is not tucked underneath the mattress and the side pockets 110 may or may not be covered by the top bedsheet 104. The attached/sewn foot end or bottom end 1028 of the bottom bedsheet 102 and the top bedsheet 104 helps to keep the top bedsheet in proper position throughout the night and avoids the same from being knocked to the ground.
[0031] The top bedsheet 104 and the bottom bedsheet 102 can be manufactured of the same material, or from different materials as per the requirement of the user and/or manufacturing process. A suitable stretchable fabric, such as an elastic fabric or other fabric can be used for making both the top bedsheet 104 and the bottom bedsheet 102. Nonetheless, the fabric should be resistant to wear and tear caused by sweat, detergents, body oils, lotions, etc. In one embodiment, a mixture of Spandex and cotton may be used to manufacture the top sheet 104 and the bottom sheet 102. In a further embodiment, both the bottom bedsheet 102 and the top bedsheet 104 have a high thread count of 1800, wherein the fabric is also breathable, hypoallergenic and wrinkle-free to always have a clean, fresh look. Further, because the bottom bedsheet 102 is oversized, the same is suitable for mattresses with a depth of up to 16 inches. In a further embodiment of the present invention, the bottom sheet 102 may incorporate an integrated sewn-in mattress pad.

[0034]
[0035] Importantly, the bottom bedsheet 102 and the top bedsheet 104 may be made available in different sizes, configurations, designs and colors to accommodate user need and/or preference. Further, each of the bedsheets 102, 104 may further comprise a logo 109, indicia, trademark, geometric pattern, customizable color and/or font, embroidery, print, and/or image on, for example, its top surface. Each of the bedsheets 102, 104 may also be comprised of an antimicrobial coating 111 to prevent the transmission or spread of germs, bacteria, viruses, microbes and harmful particulates.
[0036] As previously stated, one or more side pockets 110 may be provided on one of the longitudinal side portions of the bottom bedsheet 102, and additional side pocket 110 may be provided on the other longitudinal side of the bottom bedsheet 102. Each of the side pockets 110 have an opening therein and are designed to allow a user to easily place or remove an object, such as a smartphone, tablet, medicine, eyeglasses, CPAP machine, etc., therefrom without the need for engagement or disengagement of a fastening member.
