DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0016] The present disclosure can be understood more readily by reference to the following detailed description, examples, drawings, and claims, and their previous and following description. However, before the present devices, systems, and/or methods are disclosed and described, it is to be understood that this invention is not limited to the specific devices, systems, and/or methods disclosed unless otherwise specified, as such can, of course, vary. It is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular aspects only and is not intended to be limiting.
[0017] The following description of the invention is provided as an enabling teaching of the invention in its best, currently known embodiment. To this end, those skilled in the relevant art will recognize and appreciate that many changes can be made to the various aspects of the invention described herein, while still obtaining the beneficial results of the present invention. It will also be apparent that some of the desired benefits of the present invention can be obtained by selecting some of the features of the present invention without utilizing other features. Accordingly, those who work in the art will recognize that many modifications and adaptations to the present invention are possible and can even be desirable in certain circumstances and are a part of the present invention. Thus, the following description is provided as illustrative of the principles of the present invention and not in limitation thereof.
[0018]
[0019] The dispenser 10 may further include a retention feature 38 positioned on the first arm 28. The retention feature 38 is configured to removably engage one of the squeezable eyedropper bottles 14 (
[0020] The dispenser 10 may also include a second arm 44 which defines a second pivot end 46, a second dispensing end 48, a second exterior surface 50 and a second interior surface 52. The second pivot end 46 is coupled to the first pivot end 30 of the first arm 28 so that the first interior surface 36 is movable relative to the second interior surface 52 of the second arm 44. In one aspect of the disclosure, the movement of the first interior surface 36 is movable relative to the second interior surface 52 may be achieved through a pivot hinge. In another aspect of the disclosure, the movement of the first interior surface 36 is movable relative to the second interior surface 52 may be achieved through a living hinge. In still another aspect of the disclosure, the movement of the first interior surface 36 is movable relative to the second interior surface 52 may be achieved through a fixed joint and accomplished through the flexibility of either the first arm 28, the second arm 44 or both. For example, the first arm 28 and/or the second arm 44 can resiliently deflect to effect movement of the first interior surface 36 toward the second interior surface 52 The second arm 44 is configured to squeeze the squeezable eyedropper bottle 14 as the second interior surface 52 is manually moved toward the first interior surface 36. In this fashion, the squeezable eyedropper bottle 14, and in one particular aspect the flexible bulbous section 24 is compressed and the medication 12 is forced out through the dispensing nozzle 26 (see
[0021] Although it is contemplated that the second arm 44 may be configured to squeeze the squeezable eyedropper bottle 14 as the second interior surface 52 is manually moved toward the first interior surface 36, in one particular aspect of the disclosure the dispenser 10 includes a pressure protrusion 54 extending from the second interior surface 52 (see
[0022] The dispenser 10, in another aspect, may include at least one forehead/eyelid engagement arm 58 (see
[0023] Referring now to
[0024] In one additional aspect of the disclosure, the dispenser 10 may include a plurality of stiffening elements 66 formed or mounted on the first arm 28 and/or the second arm 44. The stiffening elements 66 on the first arm 28 allow the first arm 28, retaining the squeezable eyedropper bottle 14 to remain in a stable position. The stiffening elements 66 mounted on the second arm 44 allow the second arm 44 to flex in such a way that the pressure protrusion 54 properly engages the flexible bulbous section 24. This allows a single molded or printed dispenser 10 to provide all the characteristics described in the present disclosure.
