Description

[0033] An example of embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the figures and will be discussed below.

[0034] FIG. 1 is a perspective sectional view of a detail of a motor vehicle lighting module;

[0035] FIG. 2 is a top view of the support plate of the motor vehicle lighting module;

[0036] FIG. 3 is a bottom view of the light guide of the motor vehicle lighting module which is connected to the lead frame;

[0037] FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a detail of the light guide which is connected to the lead frame;

[0038] FIG. 5 is a schematic sectional view of the upper part of the motor vehicle lighting module.

[0039] In the figures, identical components are provided with identical reference numerals.

[0040] As shown schematically in FIG. 1, a motor vehicle lighting module 10 comprises a housing 20, which is formed by a support plate 21 and a circular upper part 24 fastened thereto. The upper part 24 is partially light-transmitting and closes off the housing 20 to the outside.

[0041] The support plate 21 has two multipole plug connectors 22, which each serve for direct connection of a circuit to a cable assembly of a motor vehicle. Furthermore, the support plate 21 has a plurality of fastening devices which serve for fastening the lighting module 10 to a vehicle component, for example to readily visible points of the front end of a vehicle and/or the rear of a vehicle. A slope 211 arranged on the periphery of the support plate 21 may be used to produce an inclination of the disc-shaped light guide in relation to the support plate 21. A coated textile membrane 70 is provided on the outer side of the support plate 21 in order to seal against ingress of moisture into the housing 20.

[0042] A plurality of light sources 30 emitting light beams 31 is accommodated in the housing 20. Each of the light sources 30 is formed by a light-emitting diode (LED). Furthermore, a disc-shaped light guide 40 is arranged in the housing 20. The light sources 30 are arranged such that a ring is formed in which the light guide 40 partially lies. The light guide 40 has a shoulder 42 on its periphery, and projects in the radial direction over the ring formed by the light sources 30.

[0043] Due to the fact that the disc-shaped light guide 40 has a shoulder 42 on its periphery, the light guide 40 is designed with a first portion 43 which has a first diameter, and with a second portion 44 which has a second diameter which is larger than the first diameter, as can be recognized in particular in FIG. 4. The first portion 43 with the smaller diameter lies in the ring formed by the light sources 30, and the second portion 44 with the larger diameter projects in the radial direction over the ring formed by the light sources 30. Additionally further electronic components, such as for example a sensor for adaptive cruise control (ACC sensor) and/or a camera 60, may be arranged in the ring formed by the light sources 30.

[0044] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, at least some of the light beams 31 of the light sources 30 are directed in the direction of the center of the ring, which in this example of embodiment is circular, and are introduced into the light guide 40, so that the light guide 40 is illuminated by the light sources 30 arranged lying opposite one another on the ring right into the second portion 44 which projects in the radial direction over the ring formed by the light sources 30.

[0045] The plurality of light sources 30 is arranged in annular manner around the light guide 40, so that two light sources 30 in each case are located opposite each other and so that the light beams 31 emitted by the light sources 30 enter laterally into the light guide. The light beams 31 emitted by the light sources 30 are propagated in the light guide 40 from a coupling-in point of a light beam 31 from the light source 30 on the edge of the first portion 43 to the opposing edge of the second portion 44, and emerge from the light guide 40 at the edge of the second portion 44 perpendicularly in the direction of the upper part 24, as is illustrated in FIG. 1.

[0046] As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 3, each of the light sources 30 is arranged on an individual printed circuit board 32. However, a plurality of light sources 30 may also be arranged on an individual printed circuit board 32. The individual printed circuit boards 32 are in each case electrically connected together by way of an annular lead frame 34 borne by the support plate 21.

[0047] As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the lead frame 34 is divided into two parts, in order to form two circuits which are separate from each other. The two separate circuits in the installation position of the lighting module 10 are separated clearly into a right-hand and a left-hand part by the lead frame which is divided into two parts. Each lead frame 34 has a connection 35 which makes possible a direct electrical connection to a cable assembly of a motor vehicle by way of the multipole plug connector 22 integrated in the support plate 21.

[0048] As shown in FIG. 3, a cover 36 protecting against direct emergence of light is arranged over the light sources 30, so that the light beams 31 emitted by the light sources 30 are not emitted out to the surroundings, but enter exclusively laterally into the disc-shaped light guide 40.

[0049] As shown in FIG. 4, a printed circuit board 32 has a first end 321 and a second end 322 which is located opposite the first end 321. At the first end 321 there is arranged a light source 30 and at the second end the printed circuit board 32 is electrically and mechanically connected to the lead frame 34, forming a ring the diameter of which corresponds approximately to that of the first portion 43 of the light guide 40. Further electronic components such as for example sensors may be arranged within the ring.

[0050] As can be seen in FIG. 1, a transparent diffusor plate 50 is arranged between the light guide 40 and the upper part 24. The diffusor plate 50 scatters the light beams 31 emitted by the light sources 30. The diffusor plate 50 in this case has textured surfaces, not shown. The textured surfaces are micro pyramids geared to the contours of the emblem.

[0051] As shown in FIG. 5, the upper part 24 has an outer surface 25, which is transparently polished, and a three-dimensionally textured inner surface 26, which corresponds to an emblem of a motor vehicle manufacturer. The light beams 31 emitted by the light sources 30 serve to illuminate the emblem. The inner surface 26 has first, non-light-transmitting, regions 27 with a dark high-gloss appearance, second, limitedly light-transmitting, regions 28, and third, light-transmitting, regions 29 which are transparently polished. The outer surface 25 forms a front face of the upper part 24, on which the backlit emblem is visible. Owing to the three-dimensionally textured inner surface 26 of the upper part, an attractive visual representation of the emblem is made possible. The dark high-gloss appearance of the first, non-light-transmitting, regions 27 may be produced for example by lacquering, vapor deposition, etc. The second, limitedly light-transmitting, regions 28 offer a homogeneous light pattern and may be produced by graining, satin finishing, vapor deposition, lacquering, etc., so that, viewed from outside, a high-end impression is produced. The third, light-transmitting, regions 29 ensure unhindered emergence of light.

[0052] The lighting module 10 is designed as a high-voltage component for use in hybrid/electric motor vehicles and other motor vehicles with high-voltage systems.
