Abstract

A connecting device having a tie having a tie knot situated adjacent a throat and a shell that extends downwardly from the tie knot. The connecting device further has a longitudinal loop coupled to a back side of the tie knot and a circular slap neck band inserted through the longitudinal loop, the circular slap neck band extends around a person's neck securing the tie to a shirt worn by the person.

Claims

1. A connecting device, comprising: a tie having a tie knot situated adjacent a throat and a shell that extends downwardly from the tie knot; a longitudinal loop coupled to a back side of the tie knot; and a circular slap neck band inserted through the longitudinal loop, the circular slap neck band extends around a person's neck securing the tie to a shirt worn by the person.

2. The connecting device of claim 1, wherein the longitudinal loop is sewn to the back side of the tie know.

3. The connecting device of claim 1, wherein the longitudinal loop is coupled to the tie knot via a fastener.

4. The connecting device of claim 1, wherein the circular slap neck band has a first end and a second end.

5. The connecting device of claim 4, wherein the first end overlaps the second end when the circular slap neck band is secured fully to the tie knot thereby securing the tie to the person's shirt.

6. The connecting device of claim 1, wherein the slap neck band is made of bistable spring steel that allows for both curling and straightening out.

7. The connecting device of claim 6, wherein the slap neck band is made of stainless steel.

8. The connecting device of claim 1, wherein the slap neck band is rectangular when extended.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0008] The present disclosure describes a way in which a necktie may be coupled to a man's neck. In one embodiment, the tie is a clip-on tie without the clip. Instead, there is a longitudinal loop on the back of the tie knot. Through the loop, one may insert a slap neck band.

[0009] In one embodiment, the slap neck band is made of bistable spring steel (usually stainless), that allows for both curling and straightening out. In this regard, when the slap neck band is straightened out, then let go, the slap neck band snaps back into a curled state. When the slap neck band is straightened out, the slap neck band is rectangular. In another embodiment, the slap neck band may be sealed within a fabric, silicone, or plastic cover.

[0010] FIG. 1 is an exemplary tie 100 connected to an open slap neck band in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. The tie 100 comprises a knot 104 that rests at the throat of the person wearing the tie.

[0011] Further, the tie 100 comprises a shell 101. The shell 101 drapes downward over the person's shirt. The shell 101 is coupled to the knot 104.

[0012] On the back of the knot 104 is a longitudinal loop 103. The longitudinal loop 103 is stitched or otherwise coupled to the back of the knot 104 via a fastener.

[0013] A slap neck band 102 is coupled to the longitudinal slot 103 by inserting an end 105, 106 through the loop. The slap neck band 102 is shown in an open positioned. The slap neck band 102 is wrapped around the person's neck who is wearing the tie 100.

[0014] FIG. 2 is the exemplary tie 100 connected to the slap neck band 102 that is in a closed position. That is end 105 of the slap neck band 102 meets and lays under the end 106 of the slap neck band 102.

[0015] When the slap neck band 102 is in the closed position, the slap neck band 102 fits around a neck of a shirt (not shown). The collar (not shown) folds down over the slap neck band 102, thus hiding the slap neck band 102. The slap neck band 102 secures the tie 100 to the shirt (not shown).

[0016] FIG. 3 is the exemplary slap neck band 102. Notable, it is shown in a curled up position. As described herein, it can be stretched out to form a straight line or a circle, like is shown with reference to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2.
