(3)
(4) Photographs were taken in May 2021 in Santa Barbara, California of twelve-month-old plants which have been grown outdoors in 2-gallon containers. No chemicals were used to treat the plants. All photographs were made using conventional techniques and although colors may appear different from actual colors due to light reflectance they are as accurate as possible by conventional photography.

COMPARISON WITH PARENTAL LINE AND KNOWN VARIETY
(6) WP22 PIE39 is distinguishable from the female parent as follows. The female parent GI068 bears light pink flowers with a maroon band. The petal edges are also deeply toothed. Also, when grown outside, the overall flowering height of GI068 is higher than WP22 PIE39.
(7) The variety of Dianthus considered to most closely resemble WP22 PIE39 is Dianthus Plant Named WP15 PIE41 (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 29,834). In comparison with WP15 PIE41, WP22 PIE39 bears single white flowers with a vibrant magenta band. The leaves of WP22 PIE39 are wider and overall, the mound is not as compact as WP15 PIE41.
