Abstract
A cutting member (1) for a shaving cartridge includes a front side, a back side opposing the front side, and a flat cutting portion (2) with a cutting edge portion (4). Further the cutting member includes a first bent portion (8), an intermediate portion (11), a second bent portion (9) and a base portion (10) that are made out of one single piece of material. The first bent portion is integral with the flat cutting portion. The first bent portion is convex on the back side of the cutting member, and the second bent portion is concave on the back side of the cutting member. The proposed shape of the cutting member resembles an S shape or a question mark shape.
Claims
1. A blade support comprising: a platform portion; a first bent portion; an intermediate portion; a second bent portion; and a base portion; wherein each of the platform portion, the first bent portion, the intermediate portion, the second bent portion, and the base portion have a front side and a back side opposite the front side together defining a front side and a back side of the cutting member; wherein the platform portion extends towards the first bent portion; wherein the intermediate portion extends between the first bent portion and the second bent portion, wherein the back side of the intermediate portion defines a back intermediate plane, wherein the back side of the base portion includes defines a base plane, wherein the second bent portion forms an angle of between 100 to 160 between the back intermediate plane and the base plane; wherein the base portion extends downward from the second bent portion; wherein the back side of the first bent portion is convex; and wherein the back side of the second bent portion is concave.
2. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the front side of the intermediate portion defines a front intermediate plane, wherein the front side of the platform portion forms a platform plane, wherein the first bent portion forms an angle of between 45 and 80 between the platform plane and the front intermediate plane.
3. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the blade support has a thickness of between 0.07 mm and 0.18 mm.
4. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the platform portion is substantially linear, wherein the platform portion has a length of between 0.2 mm and 1.5 mm from a front end to the first bent portion.
5. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the platform portion has a front end and is made out of the one single piece of material with the first bent portion, the intermediate portion, the second bent portion and the base portion.
6. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the intermediate portion is substantially linear, wherein the intermediate portion has a length of between 0.8 mm and 1.6 mm from the first bent portion to the second bent portion.
7. The blade support according to claim 1, wherein the front side of the first bent portion includes a first radius of curvature of between 0.09 mm and 0.27 mm.
8. A process for manufacturing a cutting member for a shaving cartridge comprising: providing a flat piece of material; forming a flat cutting portion including a cutting-edge portion; and forming a first bent portion, an intermediate portion, a second bent portion, and a base portion such that the first bent portion is formed between the flat cutting portion and the intermediate portion, and the second bent portion is formed between the intermediate portion and the base portion; wherein each of the first bent portion, the intermediate portion, the second bent portion, and the base portion have a front side and a back side opposite the front side together defining a front side and a back side of a cutting member; wherein the back side of the first bent portion is convex; and the back side of the second bent portion is concave; and wherein the back side of the intermediate portion defines a back intermediate plane, wherein the back side of the base portion includes defines a base plane, wherein the second bent portion forms an angle of between 100 to 160 between the back intermediate plane and the base plane.
9. The process according to claim 8, further comprising the step of: forming a platform portion that extends towards the first bent portion, the platform portion being made out of a single piece of material with the first bent portion, the intermediate portion, the second bent portion and the base portion; and assembling the flat cutting portion on the platform portion such that the platform portion supports the flat cutting portion.
10. The process according to claim 9, wherein the platform portion is substantially linear, wherein the platform portion has a length of between 0.2 mm and 1.5 mm from a front end to the first bent portion.
11. The process according to claim 8, wherein the step of forming the flat cutting portion includes forming the flat cutting portion out of a single piece of material with the first bent portion, the intermediate portion, the second bent portion, and the base portion; and forming the flat cutting portion integral with and extending towards the first bent portion.
12. The process according to claim 8, wherein the front side of the intermediate portion defines a front intermediate plane, wherein a side of the flat cutting portion forms a flat cutting plane, and wherein the step of forming the first bent portion includes forming an angle of between 45 and 80 between the flat cutting plane and the front intermediate plane.
13. The process according to claim 8, wherein the intermediate portion is substantially linear, wherein the intermediate portion has a length of between 0.8 mm and 1.6 mm from the first bent portion to the second bent portion.
14. The process according to claim 8, wherein the front side of the first bent portion includes a first radius of curvature of between 0.09 mm and 0.27 mm.
