Abstract
A shin protecting sock assembly includes a sock that is worn on a user's lower leg and foot during athletic activities. The sock has a pocket and a leg portion. The leg portion has a first grip section to engage the user's lower leg when the sock is worn. In this way the leg portion is inhibited from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. The leg portion has a second grip section to engage the user's lower leg when the sock is worn. In this way the leg portion is inhibited from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. A shield is insertable into the pocket such that the shield is positioned over the user's shin when the sock is worn. The shield is comprised of a rigid material to protect the user's shin from impact.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0016] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
[0017] As best illustrated in
[0018] The leg portion 18 has a first grip section 28 extending around an entire circumference of the leg portion 18. The first grip section 28 is comprised of an adhesive material. In this way the first grip section 28 engages the user's lower leg when the sock 12 is worn thereby inhibiting the leg portion 18 from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. The first grip section 28 is positioned adjacent to the foot portion 16.
[0019] The leg portion 18 has a second grip section 30 extending around an entire circumference of the leg portion 18. The second grip section 30 is comprised of an adhesive material. In this way the second grip section 30 engages the user's lower leg when the sock 12 is worn thereby inhibiting the leg portion 18 from falling downwardly on the user's lower leg. The second grip section 30 is positioned adjacent to the top end 26 of the leg portion 18. Additionally, the adhesive material of which the sole 24, the first grip section 28 and the second grip section 30 are comprised may include, but not be limited to, a tacky rubber substance, a multiple use medical adhesive material or any other type of non-residual material that can weakly and releasably adhere to human skin.
[0020] The pocket 14 is positioned between the first grip section 28 and the second grip section 30. The pocket 14 has an upper side 32 and the upper side 32 is open to access an interior of the pocket 14. The sock 12 is wearable in a first condition having the pocket 14 being exposed on the leg portion 18. The sock 12 is wearable in a second condition having the pocket 14 being positioned between the leg portion 18 and the user's lower leg when the sock 12 is worn.
[0021] A shield 34 is provided and the shield 34 is insertable into the pocket 14 when the sock 12 is worn. In this way the shield 34 is positioned over the user's shin when the sock 12 is worn. The shield 34 is comprised of a rigid material to protect the user's shin from impact. The shield 34 is insertable into the upper side 32 of the pocket 14. The shield 34 has a first surface 36 and the first surface 36 is concavely arcuate to conform to curvature of the user's shin thereby enhancing comfort for the user. The shield 34 may be a soccer shin guard or other similar athletic guard.
[0022] In use, the sock 12 is worn when the user is participating in an athletic activity, such as soccer, that involves the potential to be struck in the shin. Each of the sole 24, the first grip section 28 and the second grip section 30 sticks to the user's foot or leg. In this way slippage of the foot within the sock 12 is minimized and the pocket 14 is retained at the preferred location of being on the user's shin. The shield 34 is inserted into the upper side 32 of the pocket 14 thereby protecting the user's shin from impact. Moreover, the sock 12 can be worn in either of the first condition or the second condition, depending on the user's preference.
[0023] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0024] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
