Abstract
A flowmeter having an adjustable protective shield for calibrating the flowmeter is presented. The flowmeter includes an inner conduit providing a flow path for pressurized fluid, a protective shield having a plurality of markers providing a visible indicator of the flow rate of the pressurized fluid according to the position of the float in the flow path, and a housing assembly for receiving the inner conduit and the protective shield. The flowmeter also can include a fitting assembly for securely coupling the inner conduit, the flow label, and the housing assembly in-line within a pipeline path. The flowmeter can be calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield while in-line within the pipeline path.
Claims
1. A flowmeter comprising: an inner conduit providing a flow path for pressurized fluid; a protective shield having a plurality of markers providing a visible indicator of a flow rate of the pressurized fluid according to the position of a float in the flow path; and a housing assembly for receiving the inner conduit and the protective shield; wherein the flowmeter is calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield; wherein the protective shield is an intermediate conduit for receiving the inner conduit.
2. The flowmeter of claim 1 wherein the housing assembly further comprises another protective shield for viewing the float and plurality of markers.
3. The flowmeter of claim 2 wherein the protective shield is made of polycarbonate.
4. The flowmeter of claim 1 wherein the inner conduit is made of borosilicate glass.
5. The flowmeter of claim 1 wherein the housing assembly includes a window for viewing the plurality of markers.
6. The flowmeter of claim 1 further comprising a fitting assembly for securely coupling the inner conduit, a flow label, and the housing assembly in-line within a pipeline path.
7. The flowmeter of claim 6 wherein the flowmeter is calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield while in-line within the pipeline path.
8. A flowmeter comprising: a conduit providing a flow path for pressurized fluid; a protective shield having a plurality of markers providing a visible indicator of the flow rate of the pressurized fluid; and a housing assembly for receiving the inner conduit and the protective shield; wherein the flowmeter is calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield; wherein the protective shield is an intermediate conduit for receiving the inner conduit.
9. The flowmeter of claim 8 wherein the housing assembly further comprises another protective shield for viewing a float and plurality of markers.
10. The flowmeter of claim 9 wherein the protective shield is made of polycarbonate.
11. The flowmeter of claim 8 wherein the inner conduit is made of borosilicate glass.
12. The flowmeter of claim 8 wherein the housing assembly includes a window for viewing the plurality of markers.
13. The flowmeter of claim 8 further comprising a fitting assembly for securely coupling the inner conduit, a flow label, and the housing assembly in-line within a pipeline path.
14. The flowmeter of claim 13 wherein the flowmeter is calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield while in-line within the pipeline path.
15. A flowmeter comprising: an inner conduit providing a flow path for pressurized fluid; a protective shield having a plurality of markers providing a visible indicator of the flow rate of the pressurized fluid; a housing assembly for receiving the inner conduit; and a fitting assembly for securing the inner conduit and the housing assembly in-line within a pipeline path; wherein the fitting assembly includes a reservoir fitting with a tap for draining the reservoir fitting of liquid received from the housing assembly; wherein the flowmeter is calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield; wherein the protective shield is an intermediate conduit for receiving the inner conduit.
16. The flowmeter of claim 15 wherein the tap is coupleable with a plug.
17. The flowmeter of claim 15 wherein the flowmeter can be calibrated by adjusting the position of the protective shield while in-line within the pipeline path.
18. The flowmeter of claim 15 wherein the protective shield is made of polycarbonate.
