    Abstract

    A gift box assembly is disclosed comprising a box base having an empty interior space for receiving a gift item therein. The box base is constructed of four side panels, a base, and a lid wherein at least two of the four side panels include a first rabbet to receive a base panel and a second rabbet to receive a lid. A striking agent is provided with the box base to forcibly enter the lid to reveal the gift item.

    Claims

    1. A gift box assembly, comprising: a box base having an empty interior space for receiving a gift item therein, the box base constructed of four side panels, a base, and a lid, wherein at least two of the four side panels include a first rabbet to receive a base panel and a second rabbet to receive an insert positioned as a protective barrier to the gift item; and a striking agent provided with the box base to forcibly enter the lid to reveal the gift item.

    2. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the striking agent is a hammer provided in a gift set to a receiver.

    3. The assembly of claim 2, wherein the insert is positioned within the interior space.

    4. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the four side panels are comprised of a pair of opposing side panels and opposing end panels, and wherein the first and second rabbets are provided on the pair of opposing side panels.

    5. The assembly of claim 4, wherein the four side panels, and the lid are pre-assembled before providing the box base to a provider.

    6. The assembly of claim 5, wherein the base is assembled by the provider.

    7. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the striking agent is a rubber mallet.

    8. The assembly of claim 1, wherein the insert is comprised of an aperture to facilitate the removal of the insert.

    9. A gift box assembly, comprising: a box base having an empty interior space for receiving a gift item therein, the box base constructed of four side panels, a base, and a lid, wherein at least two of the four side panels include a first rabbet to receive a base panel and a second rabbet to receive the lid; an insert slidingly inserted into a third rabbet positioned between the first rabbet and the second rabbet, the insert arranged to protect the gift; and a striking agent provided with the box base to forcibly enter the lid to reveal the gift item.

    10. The assembly of claim 9, wherein the insert is positioned within the interior space.

    11. The assembly of claim 9, wherein the four side panels are comprised of a pair of opposing side panels and opposing end panels, and wherein the first and second rabbets are provided on the pair of opposing side panels.

    12. The assembly of claim 11, wherein the four side panels, and the lid are pre-assembled before providing the box base to a provider.

    13. The assembly of claim 12, wherein the base is assembled by the provider.

    14. The assembly of claim 9, wherein the striking agent is a rubber mallet.

    15. The assembly of claim 9, wherein the insert is comprised of an aperture to facilitate the removal of the insert.

    16. A gift box assembly, comprising: a box base having an empty interior space for receiving a gift item therein, the box base constructed of four side panels, a base, and a lid, wherein at least two of the four side panels include a first rabbet to receive a base panel and a second rabbet to receive the lid; at least two sidewalls comprising a top portion and a bottom portion; an insert slidingly inserted into a third rabbet positioned between the first rabbet and the second rabbet, the insert arranged to protect the gift; and a striking agent provided with the box base to forcibly enter the lid to reveal the gift item.

    17. The assembly of claim 16, wherein the four side panels are comprised of a pair of opposing side panels and opposing end panels, and wherein the first and second rabbets are provided on the pair of opposing side panels.

    18. The assembly of claim 16, wherein the base is assembled by the provider.

    19. The assembly of claim 16, wherein the striking agent is a rubber mallet.

    20. The assembly of claim 16, wherein the insert is comprised of an aperture to facilitate the removal of the insert.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

    [0023] The specific details of the single embodiment or variety of embodiments described herein are to the described system. Any specific details of the embodiments are used for demonstration purposes only, and no unnecessary limitations or inferences are to be understood therefrom.

    [0024] Before describing in detail exemplary embodiments, it is noted that the embodiments reside primarily in combinations of components related to the systems described herein. In general, the embodiments relate to a gift box assembly to contain a gift. During use, the purchaser purchases the gift box assembly and a gift, to be positioned therein. The gift box assembly is then dosed as described herein and the gift box assembly with the gift is given to the recipient of the gift. The recipient may then open the gift box assembly using a striking agent, such as a rubber mallet provided with the gift box assembly.

    [0025] In reference to FIG. 1, the gift box assembly 100 is illustrated having four sidewalls 102,104,106,108 connected to form a box. It will be readily understood by those skilled in the arts that the configuration of the gift box assembly 100 can include various geometric configurations to contain a variety of gift types, sizes, and configurations. A base 110 and a lid 112 are positioned at the bottom and top of the gift box assembly 100 respectively to enclose the gift.

    [0026] In some embodiments, the gift box assembly 100 is provided disassembled, including each sidewall 102,104,106,108, the base 110, and the lid 112. An insert may also be provided to function as a break barrier (see FIG. 4). The user may then assemble the gift box assembly 100 using tools provided, such as wood glue or other woodworking tools known in the arts.

    [0027] FIG. 2 illustrates the sidewalls 102,106,108 with sidewall 104 removed. At least two of the sidewalls (shown in 102 and 106) have a first rabbet 202 to receive and retain the base and a second rabbit 204 to receive and retain the lid. The first rabbet 202 and second rabbet 204 are provided as recessed channels positioned on the interior surfaces 206,208 of the respective sidewalls 102,106 such that the base and lid may be slid into the respective rabbets 202,204.

    [0028] In reference to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, an embodiment of the gift box assembly is illustrated which provides for an insert 402 (shown in FIG. 4) arranged as a break barrier to protect the gift from damage during the opening process. The insert 402 is received by a third rabbet 302 (shown in FIG. 3) positioned between the lid and the base.

    [0029] In some embodiments, and in further reference to FIG. 4, the insert 402 includes an aperture 404 to facilitate the sliding of the insert 402 out of the third rabbet to reveal the gift contained therein.

    [0030] In some embodiments, the insert 402 is provided having a greater thickness than the lid 112. In such, the lid 112 is easily broken by a striking agent while the insert 402 remains undamaged to protect the gift within the gift box assembly 100.

    [0031] To forcibly open the gift box assembly 100, the user is provided with a striking agent to aid in breaking the lid 112 to expose the gift contained therein. The striking agent may be various tools, such as a rubber mallet, hammer, crowbar, or similar object to strike or pry the lid 112 of the gift box assembly.

Each component may be constructed of one or more materials to suitable protect the gift contained within the gift box assembly 100. For example, the sidewalls, base, and insert may be constructed of one or more materials having increased protective capacity to ensure the gift is not damaged, while the lid is constructed of a less protective material to retain the ability for the receiver to break open the lid using the striking agent.

    [0033] FIG. 5 and FIG. 6 illustrates an alternate embodiment of the gift box assembly 100 having sidewalls 102,106 each having a first rabbet 202 (shown in FIG. 5) and a second rabbet 206 (shown in FIG. 5). The first rabbet permits the sliding engagement of the lid 112 and the second rabbet 206 (shown in FIG. 5) permits the sliding engagement of the insert 402. Sidewalls 104,108 each include an upper portion 510 and a lower portion 520 to contain the gift therein. One skilled in the arts will readily appreciate that various gift box assembly configurations may be constructed without deterring from the present embodiments.
