Multi-Way Sizing Bra

Abstract

An undergarment, as in a multi-way sizing bra, whereas present invention is able to change its back size, cup size, strap lengths and secureness of fit all while transforming to a convertible bra for breastfeeding for nursing mothers. An undergarment, and particularly a bra, that can further facilitate the stages of bra-wearing and nursing for individuals within one garment. Present invention eliminates the costs required to purchase different sized bras in response to changes in bra size during different stages of life [as in puberty, pregnancy, weight gain or loss and beyond] by providing a plurality of sizing options in one garment. Present invention is a functional bra which can offer necessary support for nursing, large, average or small breasts; as well as accommodating different sized breasts on an individual. Present invention can withstand the wear, tear and sizing changes because of interchangeable components, adjustable and convertible features of components. The present invention comprises fully detachable components to provide the user with different types and sizes of options when needed. Purpose of present invention is to provide a high quality, well-fitting, convertible and interchangeable bra capable of adapting to a single user's changed size practicably and inexpensively. Preferred embodiment of present invention provides base components able to interchange cups, bands and straps allowing replacement of components of the bra for temporary changes instead of having to purchase an entire bra which can be ill-fitting or expensive or both depending on the price or quality just or short-term use.

Claims

1. A multi-way sizing bra, comprising: a replaceable right bra cup panel assembly, wherein the replaceable right bra cup panel assembly is further comprised of a flexible right bra cup with a female portion of a maternity clasp affixed to the top of the flexible convertible bra cup integrated with a flexible right bra cup panel and a plurality of fasteners affixed to the opposite ends, outer and inner, of the inside of the flexible right bra cup panel to facilitate a front closure over a user's sternum and a side closure under a user's arm; a replaceable left bra cup panel assembly, wherein the replaceable left bra cup panel assembly is further comprised of a flexible left bra cup with a female portion of a maternity clasp affixed to the top of the flexible convertible bra cup integrated with a flexible left bra cup panel and a plurality of fasteners affixed to the opposite ends, outer and inner, of the inside of the flexible left bra cup panel to facilitate a front closure over a user's sternum and a side closure under a user's arm;

The multi-way sizing bra of claim 1, further comprising a replaceable right adjustable shoulder strap and a replaceable left adjustable shoulder strap; wherein both the replaceable left and right adjustable shoulder straps are further comprised of a combination of a stretchable, flexible material and a stretchable, flexible textile, one single textile or material.

3. The multi-way sizing bra of claim 1, further comprising a replaceable adjustable back band, wherein the replaceable adjustable back band is comprised of a stretchable adjustable material and a stretchable, adjustable textile, or each one singularly.

The replaceable right and left bra cup panel assembly of claim 1, comprising the fully integrated bra cup and bra cup panel, is configured, on the front-side with a stretchable, flexible textile extending the entire bra cup panel assembly, wherein textile can be comprised of a combination of lace, satin, silk, cotton, polyester but is not limited to any textile and can be comprised of one singularly or a plurality of textiles.

The replaceable bra cup panel assembly of claim 1, further comprising a flexible convertible bra cup with a bra strap, a male portion of a maternity clasp with integrated loop, and on the inside a padding or foam-like material configured in the shape of the bra cup to support the breast tissue in the bra cup; wherein a bra strap is connected to the replaceable bra cup panel assembly at the distal side of the bra cup furthest away from the inner attachment of the replaceable bra cup assembly, extending up from the flexible convertible bra cup panel and fitted, at the top, with a male portion of a maternity clasp with integrated loop to provide for attachment and detachment; wherein the hook provides for attachment or detachment of the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap to the bra strap and the male component of the maternity clasp provides for the attachment or detachment of the bra cup to the bra in the present exemplary embodiment; wherein the bra strap is comprised of a same or similar material as the front-side of the replaceable bra cup assembly; wherein the bra cup can be configured in a plurality of sizes to fit different breast sizes comparable to general bra cup sizes; wherein the replaceable bra cup assembly is completely detachable from the multi-way sizing bra to accommodate a larger or smaller bra cup assembly; wherein the replaceable bra cup assembly is fitted with a female component of a maternity clasp to receive the male component of a maternity clasp to provide for the convertible feature of the flexible convertible bra cup to expose the breast without removing the bra to nurse.

The replaceable right and left adjustable shoulder straps of claim 2, further comprising a shoulder strap adjuster and a shoulder strap hook on each end; wherein the shoulder strap adjuster changes the length of the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap to shorten or lengthen the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap to increase or decrease support of the multi-way sizing bra's bra cups; wherein the adjustable shoulder strap hooks are located at each end; wherein one hook is on one end of the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap to receive the loop from the male portion of the maternity clasp with integrated loop affixed to bra strap and at the opposite end of the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap, the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap is fitted with another shoulder strap hook to receive the back band loop on the replaceable adjustable back band, wherein together the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap provides support, via the shoulder strap hooks attaching and detaching the replaceable bra panel assembly and the replaceable adjustable back band, for the breast.

The replaceable adjustable back band of claim 3 comprising: a right and a left wing each with a back band loop affixed top-side of the wing, to receive the shoulder strap hook, configured from a flexible, stretchable textile; and a stretchable elasticized material permanently affixed between the wings at the proximal ends in a horizontal orientation and threaded through a plurality of sliders to provide the adjustment means and connection to each inside distal end of the wing; wherein each wing is configured from the same or similar textile as the textile on the front-side of the replaceable bra panel assembly with back band loops affixed top-side of the wings to receive shoulder strap hooks integrated on the replaceable adjustable shoulder straps and the proximal end of the wing affixed to the elasticized material with a slider, threaded through one side of the slider and permanently tacked to affix the slider to the wing and keep the slider in place; wherein the elasticized material is threaded through a slider that will act as an adjuster, then through a slider connected to the distal end of one wing and folded over and tacked down, the opposite end of the elasticized material is threaded through the other slider connected to the distal end of the other opposite wing and then threaded back through the initial slider acting as an adjuster to create adjusting means wherein the open side is folded over the slider onto itself and tacked to affix the elasticized band in place to further provide the adjustment means for the replaceable adjustable back band to tighten or loosen with free movement of one end of the elasticized material threaded through the slider, not tacked for movement through the slider to accommodate the back size of user; wherein the wings have a plurality of fasteners on the distal ends, opposite the sliders to provide an attachment means to the right and left flexible bra panels to facilitate a strong attachment to the replaceable left and right bra panel assembly for support and also to provide for the detachment of the components of the bra to facilitate the interchangeability of the bra's components.

The bra cup of claim 1, in an alternate embodiment, is affixed to the bra strap of claim 5 wherein the flexible bra cup and the bra strap are not fitted with the male and female portion of the maternity clasps, but are affixed to each other to facilitate attachment and detachment of the replaceable bra panel assembly with integrated loop to the replaceable adjustable shoulder straps and replaceable adjustable back band but not having the convertible feature of the bra cups for nursing.

9. The replaceable bra panel assembly of claim 1 further comprising adornments and decorations in several different textiles and combinations of textiles to support its function and style.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0031] Referring now specifically to the figures, FIGS. 1-4 illustrate a first embodiment of the bra 14 with the replaceable left and right bra panel assemblies 2b comprising flexible convertible bra cups 1 and flexible bra panels 2 from both front and back views. FIG. 1 illustrates the front view of the flexible convertible bra cups 1 integrated with the flexible bra panels 2 to make up the replaceable bra panel assembly 2b which is interchangeable, able to be replaced with different sized flexible convertible bra cups 1 and flexible bra panels 2 making up the different sized replaceable bra panel assembly 2b. Integrated into the flexible convertible bra cups 1 are the bra straps 5 which house the male portion of the maternity clasp with integrated loop 4b which connects to the female portion of the maternity clasp portion 4a that is integrated into the top of the flexible convertible bra cup 1 facilitating the convertible feature of the bra cups 1 for nursing which ultimately connect to the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap 9a in one preferred embodiment.

Detaching the replaceable bra panel assembly 2b from the other by disconnecting the inner male 8a and female 8b fasteners making the replaceable right and left bra panel assemblies two distinct pieces. [0035] As the bra 14 is fully assembled in the first exemplary embodiment, all of the fasteners, clasps and loops are connected to show a fully assembled multi-way sizing bra 14 in FIG. 5 from the front view. FIG. 5 illustrates each piece of the bra 14 including the replaceable adjustable back band 3a which houses the back band loops 11. In various embodiments, the back band loops 11 connect the replaceable adjustable shoulder straps 9a to the bra 14 via the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap hooks 10. The replaceable adjustable shoulder strap 9a is adjustable via the shoulder strap adjuster 9b. The ends of the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap 9a opposite of each other are hooks. The replaceable adjustable shoulder strap hook 10 on each adjustable shoulder strap 9a attaches to the male portion of the maternity clasp with integrated loop 4b when attaching the flexible convertible bra cups 1. In this illustration, the replaceable adjustable back band 3a is threaded through the back band adjuster 12b in various embodiments. Further, the replaceable adjustable back band 3a is comprised of an elastic material section 3d and the right and left wings 3c which have fasteners 3b facilitating bra assembly. The elastic material 3d is attached to the wings 3c with sliders 12 as adjustment means. The fasteners 3b of the replaceable adjustable back band attach to the replaceable bra panel assembly 2b by engaging the replaceable adjustable back band fasteners 3b to the flexible bra panel's 2 plurality of outer fasteners 7. The convertible feature of the bra 14 is facilitated by the maternity clasp 4 which consists of the female portion of the maternity clasp portion 4a and the male portion of the maternity clasp with integrated loop 4b as they attach to the replaceable adjustable shoulder strap 9a. The male 4b and female 4a portions of the maternity clasp 4 are integrated into the flexible convertible bra cups 1 and the integrated bra straps 5.
