Adjustable Furniture Cover

Abstract

An adjustable furniture cover that includes a flexible body for storage and transport. The flexible body is dimensioned to cover a furniture piece, such as a chair, throne, couch, sofa or other piece of furniture. A first cord is placed around the rear portion of the flexible body. A second cord is disposed around a perimeter edge of the flexible body. The first cord and the second cord can be used to secure the flexible body to the furniture piece on which the adjustable furniture cover is to be secured.

Claims

1) An adjustable furniture cover, comprising: a flexible body; the flexible body adapted to cover a furniture piece; a first cord disposed about a medial portion of the flexible body; a second cord disposed about a perimeter edge of the flexible body.

2) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body further comprises a transparent window.

3) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body comprises a plurality of pockets on an internal surface thereof, adjacent the perimeter edge of the flexible body.

4) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein a padding is disposed on an internal surface of the flexible body.

5) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body further comprises a securement strap extending from a first side to a second side of the flexible body.

6) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein a pair of side handles are disposed on a first side and a second side of the flexible body.

7) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein a pair of front handles are disposed on a front face of the external surface of the flexible member.

8) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body consists of a back portion, a front portion, a top portion, a seat portion and a pair of arm portions.

9) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body is made of a waterproof material.

10) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein the flexible body is made of a dustproof material.

11) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, further comprising a third cord disposed on an upper portion of the flexible body.

12) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, further comprising a plurality of scratch covers disposed on a bottom surface of the plurality of pockets.

13) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 1, wherein a reinforcement layer is disposed proximally to the perimeter edge of the flexible body.

14) An adjustable furniture cover, comprising: a flexible body; the flexible body adapted to cover a furniture piece; the flexible body consisting of a back portion, a front portion, a top portion, a seat portion and a pair of arm portions; a transparent window disposed on the flexible body; a first cord disposed about a rear portion of the flexible body; a second cord disposed about a perimeter edge of the flexible body; a securement strap extending from a first side to a second side of the flexible body.

15) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 14, wherein the flexible body comprises a plurality of pockets on an internal surface thereof, adjacent the perimeter edge of the flexible body.

16) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 14, wherein a padding is disposed on an internal surface of the flexible body.

17) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 14, wherein a pair of side handles are disposed on a first side and a second side of the flexible body.

18) The adjustable furniture cover of claim 14, wherein a pair of front handles are disposed on a front face of the external surface of the flexible member.

19) An adjustable furniture cover, comprising: a flexible body; the flexible body adapted to cover a furniture piece; the flexible body consisting of a back portion, a front portion, a top portion, a seat portion and a pair of arm portions; a transparent window disposed on the flexible body; a first cord disposed about a rear portion of the flexible body; a second cord disposed about a perimeter edge of the flexible body; a securement strap extending from a first side to a second side of the flexible body; a plurality of pockets disposed on an internal surface of the flexible body, adjacent the perimeter edge of the flexible body; a padding disposed on an internal surface of the flexible body; a pair of side handles disposed on a first side and a second side of the flexible body.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

[0016] Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective front view of an embodiment of the adjustable furniture cover. The adjustable furniture cover 10 comprises a flexible body 11. The flexible body 11 is adapted to cover a furniture piece, such as a throne, a chair, a sofa, a couch or any other piece of furniture. In the illustrated embodiment, the flexible body 11 is dimensioned to cover a couch, as such defining an expanded length, relative to height. In other embodiments, the flexible body 11 may be dimensioned to cover a throne or a chair, in which the height of the flexible body 11 would be greater than the length thereof. In the illustrated embodiment, the flexible body 11 consists of a back portion (shown in FIG. 2, 24), a front portion 12, a top portion 13, a seat portion 14, and a pair of side portions 15. However, in alternate embodiments, the flexible body 11 is of any suitable construction or configuration to cover a desired furniture piece. The flexible body 11 is made of any suitable material, however, in a preferred embodiment, the flexible body 11 is made of a waterproof material and a dustproof material.

[0017] A first cord 16 is disposed about a medial portion of the flexible body 11 (shown in FIG. 2, 23). As such, the first cord 16 will secure the flexible body 11 around the rear portion, thus increasing the securing force of the flexible body 11 from the front to the back of the flexible body 11. In the illustrated embodiment, the first cord 16 is a drawstring, consisting of a looped cord with a cord lock operably mounted thereon. In alternate embodiments, the first cord 16 comprises a buckle to secure the first cord 16 in a desired orientation. Additionally, a second cord 17 is disposed about a perimeter edge 18 of the flexible body 11. As such, the second cord 17 will secure the flexible body 11 around the base of the furniture piece, thus increasing the securing force of the flexible body 11 around the perimeter of the furniture piece. In the illustrated embodiment, the second cord 17 is a drawstring, consisting of a looped cord with a cord lock operably mounted thereon. In alternate embodiments, the second cord 16 comprises a buckle to secure the second cord 17 in a desired orientation.

[0018] In the illustrated embodiment, the flexible body 11 further comprises a transparent window 19. The transparent window 19 is configured to enable the user to view the furniture piece upon which the adjustable furniture cover 10 is installed without having to remove the adjustable furniture cover 10. In the specific embodiment, the transparent window 19 is placed within the seat portion 14 of the flexible body 11, corresponding to the backrest of the furniture piece, such as to show a proper view of the furniture piece underneath the adjustable furniture cover 10. The transparent widow 19 is of any suitable material for allowing visual access through the flexible body, such as clear plastic.

[0019] In the illustrated embodiment, the adjustable furniture cover 10 further comprises a securement strap 20. The securement strap 20 extends from a first side 21 of the flexible body 11 to a second side 22 of the flexible body 11. The securement strap 20 is configured to provide additional support and to further secure the adjustable furniture cover 10 to the furniture piece. As shown, the securement strap 20 extends through a pair of cavities defined on each side portion 15 of the flexible body 11. As such, the securement strap 20 can be wrapped around both the furniture piece and the flexible body 11. In alternate embodiments, the securement strap 20 may extend around the top and the bottom of the furniture piece and the flexible body 11. Furthermore, in the illustrated embodiment, the securement strap 20 comprises a securement strap fastener 35. The securement strap fastener 35 is configured to secure the securement strap 20 in a closed position at a desired tension level. The securement strap fastener 35 is of any suitable construction, such as a hook and loop fastener or a buckle fastener.

[0020] Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a perspective rear view of an embodiment of the adjustable furniture cover. As illustrated, the first cord 16 is disposed about a medial portion 23 of the flexible body 11. The medial portion 23 of the flexible body 11 is defined by a portion of the back portion 24, front portion and side portions that is at a distance substantially the same from the top of the flexible body 11 to the bottom of the flexible body 11. A channel is defined to receive the cord of the first cord 16, such that tension can be applied via the channel by tightening the first cord 16.

[0021] Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a perspective internal view of an embodiment of the adjustable furniture cover. In the illustrated embodiment, the flexible body 11 further comprises a plurality of pockets 29 disposed on an internal surface 30 of the flexible body 11. As shown the plurality of pockets 29 are adjacent the perimeter edge 18 of the flexible body 11. The plurality of pockets 29 is configured to receive a plurality of legs of the furniture piece therein, such that the flexible body 11 can be further secured to the furniture piece. Each pocket of the plurality of pockets 29 is sized to receive a single leg of the furniture piece therein.

[0022] In some embodiments, the flexible body 11 further comprises a padding 31 incorporated therein. The padding 31 may be integrally disposed in the flexible body 11, such as between a pair of outer layers. Alternatively, the padding 31 may be placed upon an inner surface of the flexible body. In the illustrated embodiment, the padding 31 is disposed in diagonal strips across the entirety of the flexible body 11. The padding 31 is configured to provide additional support to the flexible body 11 such as to cushion the furniture piece stored therein. As such, any contact will be dampened by the padding 31 should an object fall, or otherwise come into contact with, the flexible body 11 preventing damage to the furniture piece. In other embodiments, at least one elastic band 37 is disposed on the flexible body 11. The elastic band 37 is configured to further secure the flexible body 11 to the furniture piece.

[0023] Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, a plurality of scratch covers 38 are disposed on a bottom surface of each pocket of the plurality of pockets 29. The plurality of scratch covers 38 are made of a durable material and are configured to prevent damage to the legs of the furniture piece. In the illustrated embodiment, the plurality of scratch covers 38 are round, however, in alternate embodiments, the plurality of scratch covers 38 are of any acceptable shape or dimension for providing security to the legs of the furniture piece.

[0024] In the illustrated embodiment, a reinforcement layer 36 is disposed proximally to the perimeter edge of the flexible body. The reinforcement layer 36 is configured to provide additional protection to the furniture piece and to the legs of the furniture piece. In the illustrated embodiment, the reinforcement layer 36 is made of the same material as the material of the flexible body. In alternate embodiments, the reinforcement layer 36 is made of a different material than the flexible body.

[0025] Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the adjustable furniture cover in use. In the illustrated embodiment, the adjustable furniture cover 10 further comprises a pair of side handles 32. The pair of side handles 32 are disposed on the first side 21 and the second side 22 of the flexible body 11. The side handles 32 are configured to assist the user in orienting the flexible body 11 when installing the adjustable furniture cover 10 to the furniture piece 33. Additionally, in the illustrated embodiment, the adjustable furniture cover 10 further comprises a pair of front handles 34. The pair of front handles 34 are configured to assist the user in orienting the flexible body 11 when installing the adjustable furniture cover 10 to the furniture piece 33. In some embodiments, the adjustable furniture cover 10 comprises both a pair of side handles 32 and a pair of front handles 34, such as to maximize the manipulability of the flexible body 11.

[0026] Referring now to FIG. 5, there is shown a perspective view of an alternate embodiment of the adjustable furniture cover. In the illustrated embodiment, the adjustable furniture cover 10 comprises a third cord 39 disposed on an upper portion 40 of the flexible cover 11. In combination with the first cord 16 and the second cord 17, the third cord 39 provides additional security to the flexible cover 11 when installed upon the furniture piece 33. Additional cords may be provided as needed to secure the adjustable furniture cover 10 to the furniture piece 33.
