    Abstract

In one aspect, a bedding accessory is provided, wherein the bedding accessory is formed from a material comprising non-slip features disposed on an inner-facing surface. In one embodiment, the non-slip features comprise silicone, rubber, plastic, elastane, or a combination thereof, disposed as a pattern on the inner-facing surface. The non-slip features are designed to engage a bedding component, such as a mattress or box-spring, and restrict movement of the bedding accessory relative to the bedding component. In another aspect, a method for reducing or eliminating movement of a bedding accessory relative to a bedding component is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises adding non-slip features to the bedding accessory.

    Claims

    1. A bedding accessory comprising a plurality of non-slip features disposed on an inner-facing surface of the bedding accessory.

    2. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features are designed to engage a bedding component and restrict movement of the bedding accessory relative to the bedding component.

    3. The bedding accessory of claim 2, wherein the bedding component is a mattress or a box-spring.

    4. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein each of the non-slip features are circular in shape and having a diameter of between about 1/10 of an inch to about 1 inch.

    5. The bedding accessory of claim 4, wherein the non-slip features are disposed on an inner-facing surface of the bedding accessory at a density of about 1 per square foot to about 3.000 per square foot.

    6. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features are disposed uniformly over the inner-facing surface of the bedding accessory.

    7. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features are disposed non-uniformly over the inner-facing surface of the bedding accessory.

    8. The bedding accessory of claim 7, wherein the non-slip features are concentrated at areas of the inner-facing surface of the bedding accessory that correspond to and engage with edges and/or corners of a bedding component.

    9. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features comprise silicone, rubber, plastic, elastane, or a combination thereof.

    10. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features are disposed on the inner-facing surface as lines.

    11. The bedding accessory of claim 10, wherein the non-slip features comprise a series of substantially parallel lines, substantially perpendicular lines, or random intersecting lines.

    12. The bedding accessory of claim 1, wherein the non-slip features are heat bonded to the inner-facing surface.

    13. The bedding accessory of claim 1, further comprising a grip elastic band disposed on a periphery or a portion of the periphery of the bedding accessory.

    14. A method for reducing or eliminating movement of a bedding accessory relative to a bedding component, the method comprising adding the non-slip features of claim 1 to the bedding accessory.

    15. The method of claim 14, further comprising sewing a grip elastic band is sewn into at least one edge, or a portion thereof, of the bedding accessory.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0007] In one aspect, a bedding accessory is provided, wherein the bedding accessory is formed from a material comprising non-slip features disposed on an inner-facing surface. The non-slip features can be one of a variety of shapes, such as circular or a dot, and be disposed in a variety of patterns and densities. In one embodiment, the non-slip features are substantially circular in shape and have a diameter ranging from about 1/10 of an inch to about an inch. In one embodiment, the non-slip features are disposed uniformly and at a density of about one non-slip feature per square foot to about 3,000 non-slip features per square foot. In another embodiment, the non-slip features are not disposed uniformly over the inner-facing surface. In one embodiment, the non-slip features are concentrated at areas of the inner-facing surface that correspond to edges and/or corners of the bedding component. In one embodiment, the non-slip features are not present as discrete shapes but are disposed on the inner-facing surface as lines. In one embodiment, the non-slip features comprise a series of substantially parallel lines, substantially perpendicular lines, or random intersecting lines.

[0008] In one embodiment, the non-slip features are heat-bonded to the fabric, however, other methods known in the art are also suitable for adhering the non-slip features to the bedding accessory. In an additional embodiment, the non-slip features are also disposed on an outer-facing surface of the bedding accessory. In such an embodiment, the non-slip features on the outer-facing surface can engage, and prevent slippage of, a top covering article, such as a sheet. The non-slip features on the outer-facing surface are disposed uniformly and at a density of about one non-slip feature per square foot to about 3,000 non-slip features per square foot. In another embodiment, the non-slip features are not disposed uniformly over the outer-facing surface. In one embodiment, the non-slip features are concentrated at areas of the outer-facing surface that correspond to edges and/or corners of the bedding component.

[0009] In an additional embodiment, the bedding accessory further comprises grip elastic band disposed on the periphery or a portion of the periphery of the bedding accessory. In one embodiment, the grip elastic band provides added strength and holding power to a portion of the bedding accessory that, for example, wraps under the mattress and/or box spring. In one embodiment, the grip elastic band in sewn into the edge(s), or a portion thereof, of the bedding accessory.

[0010] In another aspect, a method for reducing or eliminating movement of a bedding accessory relative to a bedding component is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises adding non-slip features, as described above to a bedding accessory. In a further embodiment of the method, a grip elastic band is sewn into at least one edge, or a portion thereof, of the bedding accessory.
