Removable Arm Cushion with Pocket

Abstract

A removable arm cushion with pocket designed to allow a user to utilize an arm rest cover with integrated storage. The removable arm cushion with pocket includes an elongated member having a first end disposed opposite a second end, with an upper surface disposed opposite a lower surface, wherein the lower surface is designed to rest atop a planar object. At least one strap is disposed on the lower surface of the elongated member designed to secure the elongated member to the planar object. At least one pocket extends outward from a sidewall of the elongated member having an opening in communication with an interior volume designed to hold at least one item therein. In this way, a user is able to utilize an arm rest cover with integrated storage.

Claims

1. A removable arm cushion with pocket, comprising: an elongated member having a first end disposed opposite a second end, with an upper surface disposed opposite a lower surface, wherein the lower surface is configured to rest atop a planar object; at least one strap disposed on the lower surface of the elongated member configured to secure the elongated member to the planar object; at least one pocket extending outwardly from a sidewall of the elongated member having an opening in communication with an interior volume configured to hold at least one item therein.

2. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the upper surface is cushioned.

3. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein each strap has a strap fastener at a distal end thereof.

4. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 3, wherein the strap fastener comprises a hook and loop fastener.

5. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 3, wherein the strap fastener comprises at least 50% of the respective strap.

6. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the pocket comprises a waterproof material.

7. The movable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the pocket is sealable via a pocket fastener.

8. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 7, wherein the pocket fastener comprises a zipper.

9. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the pocket is positioned along the sidewall such that the pocket is equidistant from the first end and the second end of the elongated member.

10. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the pocket has a width which comprises at least 30% of the length of the sidewall.

11. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the lower surface of the elongated member is planar.

12. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the lower surface has a width consistent along the elongated member.

13. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein the upper surface has a width consistent along the elongated member.

14. The removable arm cushion with pocket of claim 1, wherein each strap is disposed at even intervals extending from the first end of the elongated member to the second end of the elongated member.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0012] Referring now to FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B, there are shown perspective views of an embodiment of the removable arm cushion with pocket. A removable arm cushion with pocket 10 comprises an elongated member 11 having a first end 111 disposed opposite a second end 112. The distance between the first end 111 and the second end 112 comprises a length of the elongated member 11. The length of the elongated member 11 is dimensioned such that the user can comfortably rest their arm thereupon. As such, the length of the elongated member 11 can vary depending on the intended user, i.e. between a child and an adult.

[0013] The elongated member 11 further includes an upper surface 12 disposed opposite a lower surface 17. The upper surface 12 is configured to allow the user to place their arm thereupon. As such, in the illustrated embodiment of FIG. 1A, the upper surface 12 is cushioned, such that the user can comfortably rest their arm thereupon for extended periods of time. The lower surface 17 is configured to sit positioned atop an object, such as the arm of a chair. Thus, in the illustrated embodiment FIG. 1B, the lower surface 17 is planar such that the lower surface 17 can rest flush against an upper surface of the object the elongated member 11 is placed upon.

[0014] Additionally, the elongated member 11 includes a pair of sidewalls disposed opposite to one another and perpendicular to the first end 111 and the second end 112. A width of the elongated member 11 is defined as the distance between the pair of sidewalls. In the illustrated embodiments, the width is consistent along the entire length of the elongated member 11 such that the elongated member 11 does not biasedly taper towards the first end 111 or the second end 112. The width of the elongated member 11 is dimensioned to be equivalent to a width of the chair arm the elongated member 11 is placed upon, and as such the width will vary appropriately. In the illustrated embodiments, the elongated member 11 is beveled, such that the sidewalls taper inwardly from the lower surface 17 towards the upper surface 12 such that the upper surface 12 comprises a lesser width than the lower surface 17. Further, in the illustrated embodiment, the edges along the elongated member 11 are nosings, such that each edge is rounded. Thus, a user placing their arm upon the upper surface 12 is not unintentionally injured should they bump their arm into an edge of the elongated member 11.

[0015] At least one pocket 13 is disposed on one of the sidewalls of the elongated member 11. The pocket 13 is configured to extend downward, such that the pocket 13 extends away from the upper surface 12 of the elongated member 11. The pocket 13 is configured to extend at a perimeter of the upper surface 12, such that the pocket 13 extends directly from the respective sidewall it is disposed on. In this way, the pocket 13 is configured to overhang the arm chair the elongated member 11 is placed upon, thereby preventing the pocket 13 from hindering the user from fully extending their arm when using the removable arm cushion with pocket 10. In the illustrated embodiment of FIG. 1A, the pocket 13 is centrally disposed along the sidewall the pocket 13 extends from, such that the pocket 13 is positioned equidistant from the first end 111 and the second end 112. In this way any item stored within the pocket 13 is within reach of the user's hand. However, in other embodiments the pocket 13 can be positioned at any point along the sidewall, should the user prefer the pocket 13 preferentially disposed closer to the first end 111 or the second end 112.

[0016] In the illustrated embodiment of FIG. 1A, the pocket 13 further comprises a pocket opening 131 in communication with an interior volume of the pocket 13. Thus, the pocket 13 is configured to hold at least one item therein. As such, the pocket opening 131 and interior volume of the pocket 13 are both dimensioned appropriately, such that the user can easily fit items, such as a cell phone or a notebook, into the interior volume through the pocket opening 131. In the shown embodiment of FIG. 1A, the pocket opening 131 includes a pocket fastener 14 affixed thereto, thereby allowing the pocket opening 131 to be sealed. In this way, any items placed within the pocket 13 can be protected by closing the pocket opening 131 via the pocket fastener 14. In the shown embodiment of FIG. 1A, the pocket fastener 14 comprises a zipper, and encompasses the entire pocket opening 131, thereby ensuring the pocket 13 is sealed. However, in other embodiments the pocket fastener 14 comprises any suitably secure fastener, such as snaps or magnets, and is centrally disposed at the pocket opening 131, such that an entire length of the pocket opening 131 is not secured thereby allowing the user to spend less time opening the pocket 13.

[0017] The interior volume of the pocket 13 is defined by a width of the pocket 13, wherein the width of the pocket 13 is measured along an axis commensurate with the pocket opening 131. In the illustrated embodiment of FIG. 1A, the width of the pocket 13 comprises at least 30% of the entire length of the respective sidewall the pocket 13 extends from, thereby ensuring the pocket 13 can accommodate the items of the user. However, should the user require a greater amount of space, in other embodiments, the width of the pocket 13 comprises greater than 30% of the entire length of the respective sidewall.

As such, the elongated member 11 further comprises at least one strap 15 disposed on the lower surface 17, wherein the strap 15 is configured to removably secure the elongated member 11 to the object the elongated member 11 is placed upon. In the illustrated embodiment, three straps 15 are disposed on the lower surface 17, wherein each strap 15 is placed in even intervals extending from the first end 111 of the elongated member 11 to the second end 112 of the elongated member 11.

[0019] In the shown embodiment, each strap 15 is split along their respective center, such that each strap 15 can be placed on either side of the arm chair the elongated member 11 is placed on. Thus, the in the illustrated embodiment, each strap 15 further comprises a pair of mated fasteners 16 disposed at each distal end, wherein each fastener 16 is configured to removably secure to one another. Thus, the straps 15 and mated fasteners 16 allow the user to secure the removable arm cushion 10 with minimal effort around any suitably sized protrusion. In the shown embodiment, the mated fasteners 16 comprise a hook and loop fastener, however in other embodiments any suitably secure fastener can be used, per the use preference for ease of use.

[0020] Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the removable arm cushion with pocket attached to a chair. The removable arm cushion with pocket is configured to removably secure to an object, such as the arm of a chair 70. In the illustrated embodiment, the removable arm cushion with pocket is disposed atop an armrest of a chair 70, such that the lower surface 17 of the elongated member is positioned flush against a top surface of the armrest. In the shown embodiment, the mated fasteners 16 are unattached to one another such that straps 15 are unfastened. Thus, each strap 15 can be placed on either side of the armrest and fasten at the lower surface thereof, thereby securing the elongated member to the chair.

[0021] In the shown embodiment, the mated fasteners 16 are hook and loop fasteners, wherein either the hook portion or the loop portion extends across more than 50% of the strap 15 it is disposed on. In this way, extension of the mated fasteners 16 ensure the straps 15 can be secured around objects of varying sizes, thereby ensuring the removable arm cushion is securely affixed regardless.

[0022] Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the removable arm cushion with pocket with an item inside the pocket. In the illustrated embodiment, a mobile electronic device 71 is stored in the interior volume 132 of the pocket 13 while the elongated member 11 is affixed to a chair 70. In the shown embodiment, the pocket 13 is waterproof, such that the cell phone 71 placed inside the pocket 13 is protected from rain, spilled drinks, or other potential irritants, such as sand or dust. In an alternate embodiment, the pocket 13 includes a transparent window, such that the user can view what item 71 is disposed therein.

[0023] In the illustrated embodiment, the elongated member 11 is oriented such that the second end is positioned adjacent to the back of the chair 70 and the pocket 13 is disposed along the outside of the chair 70, thereby preventing the user from accidentally bumping the pocket 13 with their arm or body while they are seated. However, the elongated member 11 can also be oriented such that the first end is positioned adjacent to the back of the chair 70 and the pocket 13 is disposed along the inside of the chair, thereby ensuring the user can keep an eye on the items stored within the pocket 13 and preventing potential thefts.

[0024] Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the removable arm cushion with pocket in use. In operation, a user 75 will position the removable arm cushion with pocket 10 atop the arm of a chair 70, with the pocket facing towards the user 75 or facing away from the user 75, per their desire. In the illustrated embodiment, the user 75 has positioned an additional removable arm cushion with pocket 10 atop a second arm of the chair 70. The user 75 is then able to secure the removable arm cushion with pocket 10 to the arm chair using one or more straps disposed on the underside of the elongated member. Once secured, the user 75 can place one or more items within the pocket and thereby rest assured the item is secured within reach. Thus, the user can relax their arm 73 atop the elongated member of the removable arm cushion with pocket 10. In this way, a user is able to use an arm rest cover with an integral storage solution.
