Abstract
A fence post extender that comprises an expanded section of fence post extender coupled on the outside of a base post of an existing fence assembly.
Claims
1.-5. (canceled)
6. A fence post extender for extending the height of an existing fence post, comprising: an elongated tubular member having a lower end and an upper end; an expanded section on the lower end of the tubular member; and a plurality of pilot guide holes passing through a wall of the expanded section, the plurality of guide holes being disposed at equal distances around the circumference of the expanded section; wherein the expanded section has an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post, such that the expanded section fits snugly over the top of the existing fence post when the expanded section is coupled to the top of the existing fence post; and wherein the expanded section extends along the axial length of the elongated tubular member, such that the top of the existing fence post extends a selected depth into the expanded section.
7. The fence post extender according to claim 6, wherein the plurality of pilot guide holes is three.
8. The fence post extender according to claim 6, wherein all of the pilot guide holes are located at the same axial distance from the lower end of the elongated tubular member.
9. A method of extending the height of an existing fence post, comprising: providing an elongated tubular member having a lower end and an upper end; creating an expanded section on the lower end of the elongated tubular member, the expanded section having an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post; providing a plurality of pilot guide holes through a wall of the expanded section, the plurality of guide holes being disposed at equal distances around the circumference of the expanded section; installing the expanded section over the top of the existing fence post, such that the expanded section fits snugly over the top of the existing fence post; and securing the elongated tubular member to the existing fence post by installing fasteners though the plurality of pilot holes and into contact with the existing fence post.
10. The method according to claim 10, wherein the step of providing a plurality of pilot holes is accomplished by providing three pilot holes.
11. A method of making a fence post extender for an existing fence post, comprising: providing an elongated tubular member having a lower end an upper end; swaging the lower end of the elongated tubular member, so as to create an expanded section, the expanded section having an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the exterior diameter of the existing fence post; and drilling a plurality of pilot guide holes through a wall of the expanded section, the plurality of guide holes being disposed at equal distances around the circumference of the expanded section.
12. The method according to claim 11, wherein all of the pilot guide holes are located at the same axial distance from the lower end of the elongated tubular member.
Description
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
[0013] The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when considerations is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
[0014]
[0015]
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AN EMBODIMENT
[0016] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
[0017] As best illustrated in
[0018] The said expanded section 11 has equidistant holes 12 away from the edge as a mean of pilot guide holes for fastener to secure the post extender 10 to existing base post 20 that supports the fence assembly.
[0019] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, system and use, are deemed readily apparent and oblivious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0020] Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word comprising is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article a does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of elements.
