Abstract
A handheld device for the purpose of exercise of the human body via added resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum. The handheld device can be moved freely in any direction or pattern at any speed or pace generated and desired by the user creating a wide variety of resistance, torque and or momentum.
The device will comprise an elongated body of two ends, one end being of a length and circumference to provide a secure gripping surface, the other end of a suitable size and shape to contain a quantity of material in order to adjust the weight. A given material will be contained within the device with a cap or lid. The device will also have an optional extension handle, which when attached to the device, filled with a given material secured by the cap or lid, will provide an even greater variety of exercise using resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
The device may be easily loaded or unloaded with various materials to easily adjust weight for a wide variety of resistance, torque and/or momentum.
Claims
1. A hand-held device for exercising the muscles and joints of the human body using resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum comprising an elongated shape open at one end, a cap or lid and an additional extension handle.
2. The device of claim 1 wherein the elongated shape is of a single, hollow piece, whether created as such or assembled, open at one end.
3. The device of claim 1 wherein the closed end is of a suitable size and shape to contain a quantity of a given material while still allowing the user reasonable and desired movement.
4. The device of claim 1 wherein the open end is of a suitable length and circumference to provide a reasonable and secure gripping surface for the user.
5. The device of claim 1 wherein the open end is fitted with a cap or lid of a secure nature to contain a given material within the device from escaping during exercise while allowing the user to easily fill, empty or exchange a variety of materials to easily adjust the weight of the device at the users' discretion.
6. The device of claim 1 further comprising an extension handle of a hollow nature, a similar circumference to the gripping surface of the device and of an appropriate and suitable length to provide a secure and suitable gripping surface for two hands.
7. The part of claim 6 which, when secured to the device of claim 1 at the open end provides additional continuous internal volume for a given material secured by the cap or lid of claim 5.
8. The assembled device of claim 7 comprising the device of claim 1, the extension handle of claim 6 and the securing cap or lid of claim 5 to provide a handle of greater length, therefor allowing greater resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
9. A method of providing resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum for the purpose of exercising the human body, the method requiring a hand held device that is elongated, hollow, open at one end, the closed end being of a size and shape to contain a quantity of a given material, the open end being of a length and circumference to provide a reasonable and secure gripping surface, a cap or lid; the method comprising the steps of; filling the elongated body of the device with a given material (e.g., nothing, water, rice, sand, steel shot . . . ) to achieve a desired and appropriate weight, securing said material via the cap or lid, grasping the handle end of the device, moving in any appropriate and desired direction using any desired and appropriate speed to generate a wide variety of resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
10. The method of claim 9 further comprising the step of removing the cap or lid from the device, securing the extension handle of claim 6 on to the body of the device in claim 1, adding any desired material to the continuous internal volume to increase the weight of the assembled device, securing the cap or lid to the extension handle; the user then grasping the assembled device of claim 8 with one or two hands, the user then moving the assembled device in any desired and appropriate manner to generate a wide variety of resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
11. The method of claim 9 further including the use of two of the devices of claim 1, grasping one in each hand, the user moving each hand in an appropriate and desired manner to generate an even greater variety of resistance, leverage, torque and or momentum.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION
[0015] One aspect of the current invention is the continuous hollow body of the Indian Club open at the handle end being able to be filled or emptied of any appropriate given material to easily adjust the weight of the device. The device may be manufactured in any manner that allows a hollow form including but not limited to plastic blow molding or cast and assembled. The device may be made of any material that allows the formation of a hollow structure in the manner and shape described.
[0016] The unique handle end opening is a safe and secure method of filling, emptying and containing a given material.
[0017] The shape and weighting of the device, in combination with the users movement, position and speed of movement, can provide a very wide range of resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
[0018] The addition of the unique Mace Extension Handle provides additional internal volume for a given material and greatly added potential for increased and different resistance, leverage, torque and/or momentum.
