EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
[0037] Identical parts are always provided with the same reference numerals in the various figures, and therefore are generally designated or mentioned only once in each case.
[0038]
[0039] A positioning aid 5 that protrudes toward a cleaning side and surrounds an opening in the first leg 3 is situated on a free end 7 of the first leg 3, opposite from the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4. The positioning aid 5 may be placed on the outer side of two adjacent teeth, and due to its shape facilitates the positioning of the opening in the area in front of the space between the two adjacent teeth. In the exemplary embodiment, the positioning aid 5 is designed as a cone. However, in a departure therefrom, other shapes of the positioning aid 5 are also conceivable in which the cross section of the positioning aid 5, beginning at the leg 3, tapers toward the cleaning side. The opening in the first leg 3 is designed as a through opening that extends from the cleaning side of the first leg 3, on which the positioning aid 5 is situated, to an opposite side.
[0040] The second leg 4 on its free end 8 opposite from the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 has a mounting 5 for an interdental brush 11. The interdental brush 11 may be guided through the opening in the first leg 3. The mounting 5 is situated on the second leg 4 in such a way that an interdental brush 11 that is fastened to the mounting 5 is guided through the opening in the first leg 3 when the second leg 4 swivels toward the first leg 3. When the legs 3, 4 are swiveled toward one another, the interdental brush 11 may exit from the opening on the cleaning side of the first leg 3 and penetrate into the space between the teeth to be cleaned.
[0041] To allow the legs 3, 4 to be returned to their swiveled-apart neutral position, in the interdental cleaning device 1 according to the first exemplary embodiment an elastic restoring element 20 is provided which in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 is detachably situated between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. The elastic restoring element 20 completely fills the intermediate space 12 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4. The elastic restoring element 20 is made of a material that is softer than the base body 2. The material of the restoring element 20 is preferably a soft elastic plastic, for example a thermoplastic elastomer or a silicone, having a Shore hardness A in the range of 30 to 80, preferably having a Shore hardness A in the range of 50 to 70, particularly preferably having a Shore hardness A in the range of 62 to 67.
[0042]
[0043] In addition, a form-fit element 15 is situated on the second leg 4. The form-fit element 15 is designed as a projection that is situated on the inner side of the second leg 4 facing the intermediate space 12. The projection is provided in one piece with the second leg 4.
[0044]
[0045] According to the first exemplary embodiment, the interdental cleaning device 1 may be manufactured by a method in which the base body 2 is initially injection-molded. In a further step, in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 of the base body 2 the elastic restoring element 20 is arranged between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. The arrangement of the restoring element 20 between the legs 3, 4 may take place during manufacture of the interdental cleaning device 1, i.e., before it is packaged. Alternatively, the restoring element 20 may be manufactured separately and introduced between the legs 3, 4 by a user of the interdental cleaning device 2. The user may selectively remove the detachable restoring element 20 from the base body 2 and replace it with another restoring element 20. By use of a suitable restoring element 20, it is thus possible in a user-specific manner to adjust the storing force that acts on the legs 3, 4. It has proven advantageous for restoring elements 20 to be color-coded, for example in such a way that restoring elements 20 having a certain Shore hardness A or having a certain restoring force are provided in a specified color. In addition, a worn-out restoring element 20 may be replaced with a new restoring element 20.
[0046]
[0047] The interdental cleaning device 1 according to the second exemplary embodiment likewise has a positioning aid 5 in the form of a cone that is situated on a free end 7 of the first leg 3. The positioning aid surrounds an opening in the first leg 3 through which an interdental brush 11 may be guided. On its free end 8 the second leg 4 has a mounting 5 for such an interdental brush 11. The interdental brush 11 may be guided through the opening in the first leg 3. The mounting 5 is situated on the second leg 4 in such a way that the interdental brush 11 fastened to the mounting 5 is guided through the opening in the first leg 3 when the second leg 4 is swiveled toward the first leg 3. When the legs 3, 4 are swiveled toward one another, the interdental brush 11 may exit from the opening on the cleaning side of the first leg 3 and penetrate into the space between the teeth to be cleaned.
[0048] Also for the interdental cleaning device 1 in the second exemplary embodiment, an elastic restoring element 20 is situated between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4, in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 opposite from the free ends 7, 8 of the legs 3, 4. The restoring element 20 rests against the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 in such a way that the intermediate space 12 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 is completely filled by the restoring element 20. In the starting region 9, the intermediate space 12 is designed in the manner of an eyelet having a circular arch-shaped inner wall 14 of the base body 2. The intermediate space 12 has a circular cross section between the constriction 13 and the inner wall 14. In contrast to the first exemplary embodiment, the elastic restoring element 20 according to the second exemplary embodiment is fixedly connected to the base body 2 in particular to the legs 3, 4. For this purpose, the elastic restoring element 20 is formed in one piece with an injection-molded coating 17 of the base body 2. The coating 17 of the base body 2 is made of a soft elastic material, for example a thermoplastic elastomer or a silicone, having a Shore hardness A in the range of 30 to 80. In addition, the elastic restoring element 20, beginning at the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4, extends to the side of the constriction 13 opposite from the starting region 9.
[0049] The interdental cleaning device 1 in the second exemplary embodiment may be manufactured by a method in which the base body 2 having the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 is injection-molded. In the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 the elastic restoring element 20 is cast onto the base body 2 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. A multicomponent injection molding process is used here. The formation of the elastic restoring element 20 takes place together with the formation of the coating 17 on the base body 2, so that the coating 17 and the restoring element 20 are formed in one piece.
[0050] To facilitate the introduction of the liquefied material into the intermediate space 12 between the legs 3, 4 in order to form the restoring element 20, in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 the base body 2 has an inlet opening 18 that opens into the intermediate space 12 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. As is apparent from the illustrations in
[0051]
[0052] The interdental cleaning device 1 according to the third exemplary embodiment likewise has a positioning aid 5 in the form of a cone that is situated on a free end 7 of the first leg 3.
[0053] Also for the interdental cleaning device 1 in the third exemplary embodiment, an elastic restoring element is situated between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4, in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 opposite from the free ends 7, 8 of the legs 3, 4. For better visibility of the special features of the third exemplary embodiment, this restoring element is not shown in
[0054] In the starting region 9, the intermediate space 12 is designed in the manner of an eyelet having a circular arch-shaped inner wall 14 of the base body 2 The intermediate space 12 has a circular cross section between the constriction 13 and the inner wall 14. The same as for the second exemplary embodiment, the elastic restoring element is fixedly connected to the base body 2, in particular to the legs 3, 4. For this purpose, the elastic restoring element is formed in one piece with an injection-molded coating 17 of the base body 2.
[0055] The coating 17 of the base body 2 is made of a soft elastic material, for example a thermoplastic elastomer or a silicone, having a Shore hardness A in the range of 30 to 80. In addition, the elastic restoring element, beginning at the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4, extends to the side of the constriction 13 opposite from the starting region 9.
[0056] The interdental cleaning device 1 in the third exemplary embodiment, the same as for the second exemplary embodiment, may be manufactured by a method in which the base body 2 having the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 is injection-molded. In the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 the elastic restoring element 20 is cast onto the base body 2 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. A multicomponent injection molding process is used here. The formation of the elastic restoring element takes place together with the formation of the coating 17 on the base body 2, so that the coating 17 and the restoring element 20 are formed in one piece. To facilitate the introduction of the liquefied material into the intermediate space 12 between the legs 3, 4 in order to form the restoring element 20, in the starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 the base body 2 has an inlet opening 18 that opens into the intermediate space 12 between the first leg 3 and the second leg 4. In the third exemplary embodiment the inlet opening 18 is designed as a groove. Thus, during the manufacture of the interdental cleaning device 1, the material of the elastic restoring element may be introduced into the intermediate space between the legs 3, 4 through the inlet opening 18 in the starting region 9 of the base body 2 It is also apparent that a form-fit element 19 is situated in each case on the first leg 3 and the second leg 4 of the base body 2. The form-fit elements 19 are designed in the manner of a step. The form-fit elements 19 on the base body 2, the same as for the second exemplary embodiment, cooperate with form-fit elements 22 of the restoring element that are designed as an outer edge, in order to additionally fix the elastic restoring element between the legs 3, 4.
[0057] The interdental cleaning devices 1 described above each include a one-piece, in particular injection-molded, base body 2, having a first leg 3 and a second leg 4 whose free ends 7, 8 are swivelable toward one another. On its free end 7 the first leg 3 has a positioning aid 5, in particular a cone, that protrudes toward a cleaning side and surrounds an opening in the first leg 3. On its free end 8 the second leg 4 has a mounting 6 for an interdental brush 11 that is guidable through the opening. An elastic restoring element 20 is situated between the first and the second leg 3. 4, in a starting region 9 of the legs 3, 4 that is situated opposite from the free ends 7, 8 of the legs 3, 4. A compact interdental cleaning device 1 is thus obtained that is less susceptible to material fatigue.
