    Abstract

    The use of hemp paper for use to manufacture cardboard cartons or corrugated boxes.

    Claims

    1. A cardboard carton or corrugated box comprised of hemp paper; said hemp paper including machine made hemp paper; said cardboard carton including a cardboard box.

    2. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper comprises one hundred percent hemp.

    3. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper comprises one to twenty five percent hemp.

    4. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper comprises twenty five to fifty percent hemp.

    5. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is comprises fifty to seventy-five percent hemp.

    6. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper comprises seventy-five to one hundred percent hemp.

    7. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper has a hurd content of less than fifteen percent.

    8. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hurd content is less than ten percent.

    9. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hurd content is less than five percent.

    10. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 7 wherein said hemp paper further comprises bast fiber.

    11. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is comprised of: some combination of hemp hurd, hemp bast fiber, post-consumer recycled content wood pulp, post-industrial recycled content wood pulp and virgin wood pulp.

    12. The cardboard carton of corrugated box of claim 11 further comprising clay, fillers, preservatives, chemicals or additives.

    13. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 11 wherein said hemp paper is made without using any clay, fillers, preservatives, chemicals or additives.

    14. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper has a tensile MD strength ranging from five pounds to two hundred pounds per inch, and a tensile CD strength ranging from five pounds to two hundred pounds per inch.

    15. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper has an MD strength greater than or equal to the CD strength.

    16. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper has an elongation MD percentage ranging from one half to twenty pounds per inch, and an elongation CD percentage ranging from one half pound to twenty pounds per inch.

    17. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is treated or coated with AKD sizing to reduced level of curling in cardboard sheet and linerboard so hemp cardboard carton or corrugated box will lay flat on surface.

    18. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 further comprising: a box manufacturer's certificate that is comprised of a circular stamp that includes a box manufacturer's name and other technical information printed on said box.

    19. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is unbleached or kraft.

    20. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is bleached.

    21. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 comprising a closure device.

    22. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 21 wherein said closure device is packing tape, adhesive tape, staples, a folded flap, a sticker, or some combination.

    23. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 having a corner guard made of multiple layers of cardboard sheets comprised of hemp.

    24. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box comprises bleached hemp paper on outside of said carton or box and unbleached hemp paper on inside of said carton or box or said carton or box comprises bleached hemp paper on inside of said carton or box and unbleached hemp paper on outside of said carton or box.

    25. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said hemp paper is oil and grease resistant.

    26. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said cardboard carton or corrugated box is leak-proof or coated with a water-resistant material, or moisture proof.

    27. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box is recyclable or curbside recyclable.

    28. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box is biodegradable, compostable, or both biodegradable and compostable.

    29. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box has some combination of environmentally friendly features: chlorine free, toxin free, compostable, recyclable, biodegradable, BPA free, lead free, Phthalates free and PFA free.

    30. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box has a wide face and a seamless construction, which provides a surface area to accept all types of graphics and inks on top, bottom and sides of said carton or box.

    31. The cardboard carton or corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said carton or box has coupons, bar codes, or QR codes printed on said carton or box.

    32. A cardboard sheet used to form said carton of claim 1 comprising hemp paper.

    33. The corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said corrugated box is a single-wall corrugated box, wherein said hemp paper has a minimum burst strength ranging from one hundred pounds per square inch to four hundred pounds per square inch (PSI), and a minimum Edge Crush Test (ECT) ranging from twenty pounds per lineal inch to sixty pounds per lineal inch.

    34. The corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said corrugated box is a double-wall corrugated box, wherein said hemp paper has a minimum burst strength ranging from one hundred seventy five pounds per square inch to seven hundred pounds per square inch (PSI); a minimum ECT ranging from forty pounds per lineal inch to ninety pounds per lineal inch; a minimum combined weight of facings, including center facings of said double wall, ranging from eighty pounds to three hundred pounds; said box having a maximum weight of box and contents ranging from seventy pounds to two hundred pounds; said box having maximum outside dimensions, including length, width and depth ranging from eighty inches to one hundred thirty inches.

    35. The corrugated box of claim 1 wherein said box is an E flute corrugated box wherein said hemp paper has a minimum burst strength ranging from one hundred twenty five pounds per square inch to two hundred pounds per square inch (PSI); a minimum ECT ranging from twenty pounds per lineal inch to forty pounds per lineal inch; said box having a minimum combined weight of facings ranging from sixty pounds to ninety pounds; said box having a maximum weight of box and contents ranging from thirty pounds to sixty pounds; said box having maximum outside dimensions, including length, width and depth, ranging from forty inches to seventy inches.

    36. The single-wall corrugated box of claim 33 having a minimum combined weight of facings ranging from forty five to two hundred pounds and a maximum weight of box and contents ranging from fifteen to one hundred thirty pounds.

    37. The single-wall corrugated box of claim 33 having maximum outside dimensions, including length, width and depth, ranging from thirty inches to one hundred twenty inches.

    38. The single-wall corrugated box of claim 33 having an ECT rating ranging from twenty eight pounds per lineal inch to thirty eight pounds per lineal inch, having a length ranging from ten inches to thirty inches, widths ranging from eight inches to twenty six inches and depths ranging from nine inches to twenty six inches.

    39. The double-wall corrugated box of claim 34 having an ECT rating ranging from forty five pounds per lineal inch to fifty five pounds per lineal inch, having a length ranging from ten inches to twenty six inches, widths ranging from eight inches to twenty six inches and depths ranging from nine inches to twenty six inches.

    40. A corrugated sheet consisting of a linerboard and a medium; said linerboard comprised of flat sheets of hemp paper; said medium comprising fluted or arched paper glued between two linerboards; said linerboard and said medium comprised of hemp paper.

    41. A single face corrugated board comprising a linerboard and a corrugated medium or fluted layer; said single face board comprising hemp paper.

    42. A single-wall corrugated board consisting of two linerboards and a middle layer of corrugated medium or flute; said single-wall board comprising hemp paper.

    43. A corrugated board comprising corrugated medium or flute and linerboards; said corrugated board comprising hemp paper; said board having two layers of corrugated medium or flute and three linerboards.

    44. The corrugated board of claim 43 wherein said corrugated board comprises three layers of corrugated medium or flute and four linerboards.

    45. The single face corrugated board of claim 41 wherein said flute is A-flute, B-flute, C-flute, E-flute or F-flute.

    46. The single-wall corrugated board of claim 42 wherein said flute is A-flute, B-flute, C-flute, E-flute or F-flute.

    47. The corrugated board of claim 43 wherein said flute is A-flute, B-flute, C-flute, E-flute or F-flute.

    48. A corrugated slot container comprising a regular slotted container box comprised of hemp paper; said box comprised of four flaps on top and four flaps on bottom of said box; said four flaps meet in middle on top of said box and can be taped closed; said four flaps meet in middle on bottom of said box and can be taped closed.

    49. A full overlap slotted container box comprised of hemp paper; said box having long closure flaps that overlap each other almost completely, creating extra layers of corrugated board.

    50. A half slotted container box comprised of hemp paper; said box having four flaps on one side of said box and having one flapless open side.
