    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0023] In the following description of different embodiments of the invention reference is made at different places in the specification to FIGS. 1A through 4B, which illustrate different elements and aspects of the invention in the various embodiments.

[0024] FIG. 4A is a perspective view of a packet 401 of tip filter sheets 403 in an embodiment of the invention, the sheets joined along a common edge 402, such that individual sheets may be removed. In many embodiments sheets 403 are paper, but this is not a limitation in the invention. The sheets might be formed of other suitable materials, such as wood pulp, rice, hemp, metal foil or other suitable materials other than paper.

[0025] Element 404 represents a strip of adhesive along an edge of each tip filter sheet in the packet. In one embodiment the adhesive is of a sort that dries, but may be moistened, like a stamp, to activate the adhesive. But this is not a limitation either. In some embodiments the adhesive may not be dry and moistenable but may be a other types of adhesive. The inventor is aware that in this circumstance the sheets will stick together but understands they may still be separated for use. Adhesive strip 404 may vary in width in one embodiment and the adhesive is applied to both sides of each sheet in the packet, typically before the papers are joined to the common edge.

[0026] FIG. 4B is a view of packet 401 of FIG. 4A with the packet rotated ninety degrees so the opposite sides of sheets 403 from FIG. 4A may be seen. to emphasize that the adhesive strip 404 is applied to both surfaces of each sheet.

[0027] FIG. 1A is a perspective view of one sheet 403 removed from packet 401 of FIG. 4A and laid flat on a surface. Adhesive strip 404 is shown along one edge of the sheet. FIG. 1A illustrates that a series 107 of accordion folds has been made along an edge of the sheet opposite the edge where the adhesive strip is applied.

[0028] From the circumstance shown in FIG. 1A a user moistens adhesive 404, if it is a moistenable adhesive, and rolls sheet 403 from the accordion folded edge into a cylinder. The adhesive 404 on the inside of the rolled sheet sticks to the adjacent material and maintains the cylinder shape, which may be seen in FIG. 1B.

[0029] FIG. 1B illustrates a tip filter 101 made as a result of the rolling of sheet 403 into a cylinder with the accordion folds 107 rolled to the inside. The adhesive on the inside of the cylinder maintains the desired diameter of the created cylinder shape, and the adhesive 404 on the opposite side of sheet 403 now forms adhesive around the full length and circumference of tip filter 101 allowing the tip filter to be secured to the inside of the rolling paper.

[0030] FIG. 1C is a perspective view of the present invention rolled into tip filter 101 of FIG. 1B in conjunction with a rolling paper 102 and a line 103 of shredded smoking material prior to rolling a cigarette. Tip filter 101, as described above, has adhesive 404 over the length and circumference of the tip filter.

[0031] Rolling paper 102 in this example may have a strip 105 of moistenable adhesive along one inside edge as shown, or there may be no adhesive. From the circumstance as shown in FIG. 1C the user may fold paper 102 along edge 104 before rolling. Then paper 102 is rolled around both the tip filter and the line of material 103, until the cigarette paper forms a cylinder enclosing the smokable material and one end of tip filter 101 adhered inside the cylinder of paper.

[0032] FIG. 2 shows the result of rolling paper 102 into a cylinder as described referring to FIG. 1, producing a rolled cigarette 201. The adhesive 404 on the outside diameter of tip filter 101 is indicated in FIG. 2. A user may roll cigarette paper 102 so the end opposite tip filter 101 is a bit larger, so the rolled paper is more of a cone than a cylinder, and a small diameter rod may be used to insert in the open end to pack the smokable material more densely before finishing. As a last step the user twists the open end closed completing the cigarette, as seen in FIG. 3. The user may now light the twisted end and draw on the cigarette with the mouth by the exposed portion of tip filter 101. The adhesive 404 on the outside of the tip is also shown in FIG. 3.

[0033] Current tips and filters typically used in hand-rolled and machine rolled cigarettes are defective by having many repeated instances of rolling a cigarette according to this process, or a process very much like it, and having the tip filters unable to maintain the user's desired diameter and shape making the rolling process difficult as well as the tip filters falling out of the cigarette while smoking the cigarette and subsequent handling of the cigarette. The problem of typical and current tips and filters is there is no adhesive on both sides. The current tip filters contain no adhesive causing the tip filters to unravel and often falling out of the cigarette before and during the smoking of the cigarette. The present invention solves these problems by providing strategically adding adhesive to discrete areas on both sides of sheets of tip and filter and to outside of pre-rolled tips and filters. The present invention provides for adhesive on both sides of the tip filter to be moistened, if necessary, and necessarily rolled inside so the tip maintain the desired diameter and staying intact during and after rolling, making the rolling process of the cigarette easier and more efficient. The outside of current tip filters do not have adhesive and therefore will not adhere to rolling papers 102, so often the tip may slide out of the paper cylinder during rolling of the cigarette and before use and while in use, or in subsequent handling.

[0034] The present invention solves these problems by providing adhesive to both-sides of tip and filter sheets. With a tip filter sheet with adhesive on both sides the user may moisten one side and roll the tip filter into desired diameter and keep this diameter while preparing and handling the rolling paper while adding smoking material and during the rolling process. Then, referring to FIG. 2, the outside of the rolled tip, or at least a portion of the length of the outside of the rolled tip may be moistened before the tip is placed on the rolling paper as shown in FIG. 2. Then, as the cigarette is rolled, the tip will adhere to the inside of the rolling paper, and the tip filter will be secure in the resulting cylinder or cone.

[0035] A skilled person will understand that the embodiments and procedures described above are entirely exemplary, and that there may be many variations within the scope of the invention. The invention is limited only by the scope of the claims.
