HEADBAND WITH ACCESSORY AND METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME

Abstract

A headband with an accessory formed by folding a fabric in half bringing, a first end of the fabric and a second end of the fabric together to form a joined end, opposite of a creased end, gathering the joined end to resemble an accordion and forming a gathered end, affixing the first end of the fabric and the second end of the fabric together, tying a string around the gathered end, positioning the fabric on a flat surface with the gathered end in a middle, and affixing an accessory to the gathered end.

Claims

1. A method for forming a headband with an accessory comprising: folding a fabric in half bringing, a first end of the fabric and a second end of the fabric together to form a joined end, opposite of a creased end; gathering the joined end to resemble an accordion and forming a gathered end; affixing the first end of the fabric and the second end of the fabric together; tying a string around the gathered end; positioning the fabric on a flat surface with the gathered end in a middle; and affixing an accessory to the gathered end.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising trimming excess fabric around the gathered end before affixing an accessory.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first end and the second end are affixed together by sewing.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first end and the second end are affixed together by an adhesive.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessory is attached to the gathered end by sewing.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessory is attached to the gathered end by an adhesive.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessory is a knot.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessory is a bow.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the accessory is a decoration.

10. The headband formed by the method of claim 1, wherein the headband is worn by a user.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0015] The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims with reference to the drawings.

[0016] A general overview of the various features of the invention will be provided, with a detailed description following. Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a headband and a method for making such. The headband may comprise an accessory such as a bow, knot, bun, or other obtrusion, decoration, or decorative feature. The headband and attachment of an accessory thereof may be formed in such a manner to not cause an indent, imprint, or mark on a user's head upon use. The band may lay flat on a user's head.

[0017] The band of the headband may be formed out of fabric. Fabric is not particular to the present invention as any material suitable for a headband may be utilized. The use of fabric herein may be understood to include all materials suitable for forming a headband.

[0018] In some embodiments of the present invention, a headband may be made according to the following method steps.

[0019] Fabric may be cut, assembled, or folded to form a rectangle of a desired length and width with a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end of the rectangle may be bought together, forming a joined end, opposite of a creased end, of a now folded fabric.

[0020] The joined end may be gathered or folded to resemble an accordion, forming a gathered end. The first end of the fabric and the second end of the fabric, now part of the gathered end, may be affixed to each other by an adhesive or by sewing. The means of affixing the ends together is not particularly limited to the present invention, as any suitable means may be utilized. A string, tie, or another piece of fabric may be tied around the gathered end. An accessory may then be affixed to the gathered end.

[0021] In some embodiments of the present invention, folds of the accordion like structure of the gathered end are sewn together or affixed to each other by an adhesive.

[0022] In some embodiments of the present invention, the gathered end may be pinched and affixed together at an edge, for example by sewing the first end of the fabric and the second end of the fabric together at their edges. The string, tie, or another fabric may further be wrapped around a seam and pinched. Excess fabric may be trimmed around the seam. The headband may then be unfolded and laid flat. The gathered end may be positioned in a middle. An accessory may then be added.

[0023] In some embodiments of the present invention, the first end and the second end of the fabric may be sewn together at an edge to form a sleeve. The sleeve may be turned inside-out and laid or positioned on a flat surface, adjusted to position the seam in the middle. A first end of the sleeve and a second end of the sleeve may be bought together, folding the sleeve in half, forming the joined end. The joined end may then be gathered or folded accordion style or to resemble an accordion forming the gathered end. The gathered end may be pinched and sewn together around an edge. A string, tie, or another piece of fabric may further be wrapped around a seam and pinched. Excess fabric may be trimmed around the seam. The sleeve may then be laid flat. The gathered end may be positioned in a middle. An accessory may then be added to the gathered end.

[0024] When wearing the headband of the present invention, a wearer may point the accessory upwards towards the sky when worn, ensuring a flat surface on the wearer's head underneath the accessory.

[0025] Referring now to FIGS. 1-4, a headband 10 comprises a fabric 12 and a bun 14 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The bun 14 is attached to a gathered portion 16 of the fabric 12 on an exterior of the fabric 12. The gathered portion 16 of the fabric 12 forms a seam 18 on an interior of the fabric 12. The headband 10 sits on a user's head 28.

[0026] FIGS. 5-8 depict method steps according to an embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 5, the fabric 12 is folded in half by bringing together a first end 40 and a second end 42, opposite of a creased end 44. As shown in FIG. 6, The first end 40 and the second end 42 are folded together in an accordion style, forming the gathered portion. A thread 24 is tied around the first end 40 and the second end 42 of the fabric 12. Stitching 22 sews the first end 40 and the second end 42 together.

[0027] In FIG. 7, the fabric 12 is placed on a surface 26 and laid flat with the now joined first end 40 and second end 42 of the fabric 12 positioned in a middle. A bun 14 is affixed by an adhesive 20 to the gathered portion 16 of the fabric 12 as shown in FIG. 8.
