    Abstract

    The device (8) for decimating samples of a continuous signal by a float number. The device includes interpolating means (11) configured to determine intermediate samples. A determining means (12) is configured to determine intermediate set of samples comprising the samples and the intermediate samples. A filtering means (13) is configured to filter the intermediate set of samples to determine one final value from an odd number of consecutive samples of the intermediate set of samples and to remove frequencies below a first cut-off frequency (F3) equal to the predetermined sampling frequency divided by two within a predetermined tuning value.

    Claims

    1. A method for decimating samples of a continuous signal by a float number, the method comprising: determining intermediate samples, each intermediate sample being centered between two consecutive samples and the value of each intermediate sample is determined by interpolating the values of the two consecutive samples, the samples being samples of the continuous signal at a predetermined sampling frequency, determining an intermediate set of samples comprising the samples and the intermediate samples, filtering the intermediate set of samples to determine one final value from an odd number of consecutive samples of the intermediate set of samples and to remove frequencies below a first cut-off frequency equal to the predetermined sampling frequency divided by two within a predetermined tuning value, the float number being equal to the odd number divided by two.

    2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the value of each intermediate sample is equal to the average value of the values of the two consecutive samples.

    3. A device for decimating samples of a continuous signal by a float number, the device comprising: interpolating means configured to determine intermediate samples, each intermediate sample being centered between two consecutive samples and the value of each intermediate sample is determined by interpolating the values of the two consecutive samples, the samples comprising samples of the continuous signal at a predetermined sampling frequency, determining means configured to determine intermediate set of samples comprising the samples and the intermediate samples, filtering means configured to filter the intermediate set of samples to determine one final value from an odd number of consecutive samples of the intermediate set of samples and to remove frequencies below a first cut-off frequency equal to the predetermined sampling frequency divided by two within a predetermined tuning value, the float number being equal to the odd number divided by two.

    4. The device according to claim 3, wherein the filtering means comprise a polyphase filter.

    5. The device according to claim 3, wherein the value of each intermediate sample is equal to the average value of the values of the two consecutive associated samples.

    6. The device according to claim 4, wherein the value of each intermediate sample is equal to the average value of the values of the two consecutive associated samples.

    7. A sensor comprising: a sensing means, a sampler, and a device according to claim 3, the sensing means being configured to deliver a continuous signal representative of measurements, the sampler being configured to sample the continuous signal at the predetermined sampling frequency and to deliver the samples to the device.

    8. The sensor according to claim 7, wherein the filtering means comprise a polyphase filter.

    9. The sensor according to claim 8, wherein the value of each intermediate sample is equal to the average value of the values of the two consecutive associated samples.

    10. The sensor according to claim 9, further comprising at least one filter having at least a second cut-off frequency and configured to filter the continuous signal representative of measurements, the filtering means being configured so that the first cut-off frequency and the second cut-off frequency are different by tuning the predetermined tuning value.

    11. The sensor according to claim 10, further comprising a wireless transmitter configured to transmit the final set of samples to a gateway.

    12. The sensor according to claim 11, wherein the sensing means are configured to measure vibrations.

    13. The sensor according to claim 7, further comprising at least one filter having at least a second cut-off frequency and configured to filter the continuous signal representative of measurements, the filtering means being configured so that the first cut-off frequency and the second cut-off frequency are different by tuning the predetermined tuning value.

    14. The sensor according to claim 7, further comprising a wireless transmitter configured to transmit the final set of samples to a gateway.

    15. The sensor according to claim 7, wherein the sensing means are configured to measure vibrations.

    16. The sensor according to claim 14, wherein the sensing means are configured to measure vibrations.

    17. A rotating machine comprising: a shaft, and a sensor according to claim 15 for measuring vibrations of the shaft, the predetermined sampling frequency being equal at least to twice the rotating frequency of the shaft.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

    [0042] Reference is made to FIG. 1 which represents schematically a rotating machine 1.

    [0043] The rotating machine 1 comprises a shaft 2 and a sensor 3 mounted on the shaft 2 to measure vibrations on the shaft 2.
