Abstract
A paper interleaver that is separate from the food patty molding machine for inserting a sheet of paper underneath a meat patty.
Claims
1. A system for making food patties with a sheet of paper underneath the patty comprising: food patty molding machine comprising a mold plate that delivers patties to an inbound cuber conveyor; a separate cuber machine separate from said molding machine; and a separate interleaver separate from said molding machine which inserts a sheet of paper underneath a meat patty; said inbound cuber conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt, for delivering said patties to said cuber and an outbound cuber conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt, for delivering said patties to an inbound interleaver conveyor; said inbound interleaver conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt, for delivering said patties to said interleaver, said interleaver providing a sheet under a patty delivered to said interleaver, said patty and sheet then delivered to an outbound interleaver conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt.
2. The system of claim 1 wherein said interleaver comprises at least one hopper where paper is loaded, where bottom of said at least one hopper is open; a device for releasing said paper one sheet at a time; a shuttle plate that reciprocates under said at least one hopper; said at least one hopper attached to a baseplate.
3. The system of claim 2 wherein underneath said hopper is a guide plate that is a guide for fingers and holds said at least one hopper in place.
4. The system of claim 3 wherein said at least one hopper has said fingers that are either in an extended or retracted position, having vacuum coming through openings in said fingers to hold said paper once it is released from said at least one hopper, said fingers part of a finger mounting bracket; said finger mounting bracket and said fingers move out and back from below said at least one hopper.
5. The system of claim 4 wherein said finger mounting bracket comprises lightning holes that lessen weight of finger mounting bracket so servo drive motor moves said finger mounting bracket faster due to less weight.
6. The system of claim 4 wherein all said fingers move together at same time.
7. The system of claim 4 wherein said fingers are not connected to said finger mounting bracket and said fingers separately move.
8. The system of claim 2 wherein a paper pusher holds said paper down in said at least one hopper.
9. The system of claim 2 wherein said device for releasing said paper comprises a tear pin design.
10. The system of claim 2 wherein said shuttle plate contains one or more holes or ports which draw air into said ports creating a suction or vacuum to hold said paper in place.
11. The system of claim 2 wherein said paper is transported to a location that is determined by a mechanical stop, hydraulic cylinder, pneumatic cylinder, electric motor with limit switch or proximity sensor, or a servo motor.
12. The system of claim 11 wherein said system detects said patty is nearing said interleaver by a switch or sensor which sends a signal to stop said suction or vacuum that holds said paper to said shuttle; said patty reaches end of said conveyor and falls on said shuttle with said paper in place; said patty with said paper falling onto an exit device.
13. The system of claim 12 wherein after said patty and said paper fall off of said shuttle, said shuttle retracts and moves forward picking up next piece of paper.
14. The system of claim 13 wherein said shuttle is in a forward position or retracted position, said shuttle attached to finger mounting bar having fingers mounted on it, a shuttle bracket connected to guide shafts.
15. The system of claim 2 wherein said device for releasing said paper comprises a sharp blade at bottom of said hopper that allows only one sheet of paper to be released at a time.
16. The system of claim 1 wherein said inbound interleaver conveyor is comprised of a laser head assembly.
17. The system of claim 16 wherein said laser head assembly sends a laser beam from one side of said inbound interleaver conveyor to other side, said laser beam assembly determining when paper is released by said interleaver by sending signals to a computer/PLC.
18. The system of claim 17 further comprising a servo drive cabinet having controls for said inbound interleaver conveyor and said outbound interleaver conveyor and belts of said interleaver that controls speeds, feeds and dwells of fingers of said paper interleaver.
19. The system of claim 1 wherein said cuber machine comprises a cuber, having a cubing head assembly, a conveyor belt for moving said patties; an upper knife to score top half of said patty and a lower knife to score bottom half of said patty.
20. The system of claim 19 further comprising stripper belts in said cuber.
21. The system of claim 1 wherein said system rolls patties for a home style appearance.
22. A system for making food patties with a sheet of paper underneath the patty comprising: food patty molding machine comprising a mold plate that delivers patties to an inbound interleaver conveyor; and a separate interleaver separate from said molding machine which inserts a sheet of paper underneath a meat patty; said inbound interleaver conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt, for delivering said patty to said interleaver, and an outbound interleaver conveyor, comprising a conveyor belt.

The system of claim 22 wherein said interleaver comprises at least one hopper where paper is loaded, where bottom of said at least one hopper is open; a device for releasing said paper one sheet at a time; a shuttle plate that reciprocates under said at least one hopper; said at least one hopper attached to a baseplate.
24. The system of claim 23 wherein underneath said hopper is a guide plate that is a guide for fingers and holds said at least one hopper in place.

The system of claim 24 wherein said at least one hopper has said fingers that are either in an extended or retracted position, having vacuum coming through openings in said fingers to hold said paper once it is released from said at least one hopper, said fingers part of a finger mounting bracket; said finger mounting bracket and said fingers move out and back from below said at least one hopper.

35. The system of claim 34 wherein said shuttle is in a forward position or retracted position, said shuttle attached to finger mounting bar having fingers mounted on it, said shuttle bracket connected to guide shafts.
36. The system of claim 23 wherein said device for releasing said paper comprises a sharp blade at bottom of said hopper that allows only one sheet of paper to be released at a time.
37. The system of claim 22 wherein said inbound interleaver conveyor is comprised of a conveyor belt and a laser head assembly.
38. The system of claim 37 wherein said laser head assembly sends a laser beam from one side of said inbound interleaver conveyor to other side, said laser beam assembly determining when said paper is released by said interleaver by sending signals to a computer/PLC.
39. The system of claim 38 further comprising a servo drive cabinet having controls for said inbound interleaver conveyor and said outbound interleaver conveyor and belts of said interleaver that controls speeds, feeds and dwells of fingers of said paper interleaver.
