Abstract
A furnace is disclosed. The furnace may include an enclosure having a vertical support column formed by a heat exchanger compartment panel and a blower compartment panel. The furnace may include a window assembly having venting openings hidden by a viewing window. The furnace may also include a rail to support a removable heat exchanger system. The furnace may further include a wire retaining fin assembly to retain a wire. A heat exchanger header design including features to retain a sealant is also disclosed.

A furnace, comprising: a burner system; a heat exchanger system; and a blower system, wherein: the blower system includes a housing, the housing including: a first fin having a first tip projects from the housing, a second fin having a second tip projects from the housing, the first and second tips face one another, the first and second tips are offset from one another with respect to a divide line, and an offset space is between the first tip and the second tip.
22. The furnace of claim 21, wherein a retaining space is formed between the housing, the first fin, and the second fin by the curvature of the first fin and the curvature of the second fin.
23. The furnace of claim 22, further comprising a wire located in the retaining space.
24. The furnace of claim 23, wherein the wire extends through the retaining space in a direction perpendicular to a major axis of the offset space.
25. The furnace of claim 21, wherein the first fin and the second fin are each formed integrally with the housing.
26. A furnace, comprising: a burner system; a heat exchanger system; and a blower system, wherein the heat exchanger system includes a heat exchanger including a header, the header including: a cover; and a base, wherein the base includes a recessed region, the recessed region is close to an outer edge of the base, and a sealant is disposed in the recessed region.
27. The furnace of claim 26, wherein the recessed region is configured to encircle a tube installation region of the base, wherein the tube installation region of the base is a region configured to receive an end of one or more heat exchanger tubes.
28. The furnace of claim 26, wherein when the cover and base are pressed against each other, the sealant forms an airtight seal between the cover and the base.
29. The furnace of claim 26, wherein the cover includes a second recessed region, and wherein the recessed region and the second recessed region are configured to surround the sealant when the cover and base are pressed against each other.
30. A furnace comprising: a burner system; a heat exchanger system; a blower system; an enclosure; and an air vent and cover panel assembly including: a base including a panel support and a plurality of openings, the plurality of openings recessed with respect to the panel support; and a cover panel configured to be attached to the panel support, and wherein the cover panel is configured to extend over a portion of the base where the plurality of openings are located when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, and when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, a gap is formed between a side of the cover panel facing the base and the plurality of openings on the base.
31. The furnace of claim 30, wherein the openings are louvers.
32. The furnace of claim 30, wherein the base is a front access of the enclosure.
33. The furnace of claim 30, wherein when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, an interior of the enclosure is in fluid communication with an exterior of the enclosure via the gap between the cover panel and the base and the plurality of openings.
34. The furnace of claim 30, wherein the cover panel includes one or more viewing windows.
35. The furnace of claim 34, wherein when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, at least one of the one or more burners are visible through the one or more viewing windows.
36. The furnace of claim 34, wherein when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, the openings are not visible in a front view of the furnace.
37. The furnace of claim 34, further comprising an LED display and wherein the LED display is visible through at least one of the one or more viewing windows.
38. The furnace of claim 34, wherein the cover panel includes two viewing windows.
39. The furnace of claim 34, wherein when the cover panel is attached to the panel support, the openings are not visible in a front view of the air vent and cover panel assembly.
40. The furnace of claim 34, wherein the one or more viewing windows are tinted.

[0016] A furnace, for example, of a HVAC system typically includes a burner system, a heat exchanger system and a blower system. These systems are housed in an enclosure. Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to features of the furnace.

[0020] In the illustrated embodiment, the heat exchanger compartment 221 is positioned on top of the blower compartment 222 in a vertical orientation V2. The heat exchanger compartment 221 and the blower compartment 222 are aligned vertically. The term aligned vertically or vertically aligned generally refers to a situation that a side of one panel may be aligned with a side of another panel so that in some cases a straight line can be formed in the vertical orientation (e.g. the vertical orientation V2) by the two sides of the panels. It is to be appreciated that a thickness of the panels of the compartments may differ and so vertically aligned is also meant to include such overlap in the thicknesses of the side panels or walls but where the panels and/or walls are on top of each other to form a column structure.

The relatively large combustion compartment 223 can also help access the serviceable components, e.g. the burner system).
