    Abstract

    P.E.D.'s (Parapet Earth Dwellings) are pre-fabricated shelters designed to be attached to existing or new home and business structures for emergency evacuation. These structures will be designed with the latest polymers and compounds comparable to that of traditional metals being used today such as with smooth or corrugated metal pipes. P.E.D.'s will be primarily designed and encased with EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) technology to safeguard electronic devices that could potentially be inoperative during a manmade or cosmic energy pulse emission. These structures are designed to be installed underground at a minimum of 15 feet from the top of the structure varying in height and length based on a customer's needs. These structures will also have the ability to maintain warmth byway of geo-thermal penetrating technology. P.E.D. Shelters are the next generation of underground emergency evacuation shelters providing additional EMP protection, natural geo-thermal warmth, and structural flexibility during slight earth movements.

    Claims

    1. P.E.D. evacuation shelters are pre-fabricated large hollow cylinder tubes made of a polymer material mixed and molded with carbon flakes (Graphene). See FIG. 1.

    2. The sealed encapsulation of P.E.D.'s. are made out of the same polymer/carbon flake material and secured with or without eight evenly spaced metallic or synthetic rivet-like bolts, and bonded with a permanent water proof epoxy-like adhesive. See FIG. 2.

    3. The exterior encasement of P.E.D.'s are wrapped with a metallic mesh to prevent or reduce the effects of a manmade or natural EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) emission. See FIG. 1.

    4. The interior encasement of P.E.D.'s are designed with a sheet of solid copper attached to the polymer/carbon flake material. See FIG. 1.

    5. The warming method of P.E.D.'s are byway of geo-thermal technology; which will contain a release valve for warmth and an emergency shut-off valve. The warming outlets will be evenly spaced horizontally every 5 feet at a depth of two feet below the P.E.D. structure. See FIG. 3, displaying only three warming outlets.

    IV. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIONS

    [0007] The figures below are simplistic views and descriptions to be looked upon as examples and are not to limit the specificity of the invention(s) itself. The purpose of the drawings is to shed light on the different elements making up the design of the P.E.D. Shelters unique from existing evacuation shelters.

    [0008] FIG. 1. The first drawing, as it relates to the embodiment of the current invention, shows a basic depiction of a P.E.D. Shelter and the basic materials making up its design. On the outer surface of the P.E.D. (1) it shows that the exterior is made up of an unspecified EMP reducing metallic mesh. The P.E.D. itself (2) is a polymer mixed with carbon flakes and molded into a hallow cylinder. As with some polymers, depending on the compounds used, the strength of P.E.D.'s are to be designed comparable to that of traditional metals being used today in similar underground shelters that use smooth or corrugated metal pipes. The inner layer of the P.E.D. (3) will contain a smooth sheathing of copper having the ability to be energized or not.

This figure, as it relates to the embodiment of the current invention, shows a simplistic view of the P.E.D.'s rim and explains that the encapsulation of the P.E.D.'s rim along with the remaining material that complete the P.E.D.'s enclosure (4) containing a door and/or hatch, will be made out of the same polymer mix material as the P.E.D. cylinder. The rim will also be riveted with eight (8) metallic or synthetic bolts equally spaced (5); while the connecting joints are sealed with a permanent waterproof sealant (6). Note: The door and/or hatch, not visible here, are not considered to be made from a polymer mix material and are not the focus in this invention.

    [0010] FIG. 3. Here, as it relates to the embodiment of the current invention, the illustration shows an overall external view of how the P.E.D. (The middle pipe connected to the other two pipes or structures for entry/exit into the home and entry/exit via escape hatch away from the home.). Shelter receives warmth byway of geo-thermal energy. Inside the P.E.D. there will be two geo-thermal levers on opposite ends of the shelter. One lever (7) will open the pathway of warmth beneath the P.E.D., and the other lever (8) will be an emergency shut-off valve that controls the two connecting points of the main geo-thermal energy heat flow. In this depiction, only three warming outlets are shown (9). (10) is the pipe descending to access geo-thermal warmth. (11) is the earth surface.
