    DESCRIPTION OF THE APPLICATION

[0015] The description set forth below in connection with the appended drawings is intended as a description of presently preferred embodiments of the disclosure and is not intended to represent the only forms in which the present disclosure can be constructed and/or utilized. The description sets forth the functions and the sequence of steps for constructing and operating the disclosure in connection with the illustrated embodiments. It is to be understood, however, that the same or equivalent functions and sequences can be accomplished by different embodiments that are also intended to be encompassed within the spirit and scope of this disclosure.

[0016] Embodiments of the exemplary system and method disclose a mattress topper cover. The mattress topper cover is configured to keep the mattress topper clean while further keeping the mattress topper in position and preventing the mattress topper from shifting and moving over time.

[0017] Referring to the FIGs., a mattress topper cover 10 (hereinafter cover 10) may be seen. The cover 10 may be placed over a mattress topper 14. The cover 10 may be formed of a planer rectangle sheet 12. The planer rectangle sheet 12 may be of sufficient size to cover a top surface 14A of the mattress topper 14. In accordance with one embodiment, the planer rectangle sheet 12 may be formed of a quilted material.

[0018] A skirt 16 may be formed around the perimeter of the planer rectangle sheet 12. Proximate edges 16A of the skirt 1 may be attached to corresponding edges 12A of the planer rectangle sheet 12. The skirt 16 may be configured to extend down from the planer rectangle sheet 12 and around the front 14B, rear 14C and side 14B surfaces of the mattress topper 14. The skirt 16 may have four corners 18 which extend over the corners of the mattress/mattress topper 14. A stretchable material 21 may be placed within the seams 20 of the four corners 18. The stretchable material may be used to secure the four corners 18 of the cover 10 around the corners of the mattress topper 14 thereby preventing the cover 10 from moving.

[0019] The cover 10 may have a bottom flap 22. The bottom flap 22 may attached to distal edges 16B of the skirt 16 configuring the cover 10 to enclose the mattress topper 14. The bottom flap 22 may be used to enclose the mattress topper 14 within the cover 10. In accordance with one embodiment, the bottom flap 22 may be removably attached to the distal edges 16B of the skirt 16. An attachment mechanism 24 may be used to removably, attach the bottom flap 22 to the distal edges 16B of the skirt 16.

[0020] In accordance with one embodiment, the attachment mechanism 24 may be a zipper 24A. The zipper 24A may have a first set of teeth 26 formed around distal edges 16B of the skirt 16. A second set of teeth 28 may be formed the perimeter of the bottom flap 22. A slide 30 may be used to secure the first set of teeth 26 to the second set of teeth 28. Using a tab 32 on the slide 30, may pull the slide 30 in a first direction to secure the first set of teeth 26 to the second set of teeth 28. Pulling the slide 30 in a second direction detaches the first set of teeth 26 to the second set of teeth 28 thereby unzipping the zipper 24A. The zipper 24A may have;a bottom stop 36. The bottom stop 36 may be attached to both the perimeter edge of the bottom flap 22 and to the distal edge 16B of the skirt 16. The bottom stop 36 may be used to secure the first set of teeth 26 and the second set of teeth 28 as well as to stop the movement of the slide 30. The above is given as an example and should not be seen in a limiting manner. Other attachment mechanisms 24 may be sued without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention such as, but not limited to snaps, buttons, hook and loop material or the like.

[0021] On the exterior side 22A of the bottom flap 22 may be one or more a slide resistant strips 32. The slide resistant strips 32 may be attached to the exterior side 22D of the bottom flap 22 by sewing, adhesive or other attachment means. In the embodiment shown, one or more slide resistant strips 32 may be positioned near a front area 22A of the flap 22, a rear area 22 of the flap 22 and a middle area 22C of the flap 22. The slide resistant strips 32 may be used to secure the cover 10 and the mattress topper 14 placed inside the cover 10 to a mattress/mattress pad on which the mattress topper 12 is positioned on top of.

[0022] In accordance with one embodiment, the slide resistant strips 32 may be a hook material strip 32A. The hook material strip 32A may attach to the material forming the mattress and/or mattress pad thereby sec wring the cover 10 and the mattress topper 14 placed inside the cover 10 to a mattress/mattress pad on which the mattress topper 12 is positioned on top of. When pressure is applied, such as when a person lays on top of the mattress topper 12, the hook material strip 32A engages and fastens to the material of the mattress/mattress pad thereby securing the cover 10 and the mattress topper 14 placed inside the cover 10 to a mattress/mattress pad.

[0023] The foregoing description is illustrative of particular embodiments of the application, but is not meant to be a limitation upon the practice thereof. The following claims, including all equivalents thereof, are intended to define the scope of the application.
