Abstract
A double walled illuminated vessel for displaying indicia comprising an outer sleeve, an inner liner, a lens, a transparent or translucent connection ring, a base and an illumination module adapted to be inserted into the base whereby the base and connection ring are connected to each other creating a base illumination unit. Light from the illumination module passes through the hollow space between the outer sleeve and the inner liner such that the lens bearing indicia is illuminated thus prominently displaying any desired graphic, logo, design, trademark, symbol, letter, number or any other indicia. The connection ring transmits and diffuses light through the inner liner and upper rim as well as the sidewall of the connection ring. The base illumination unit is removable from the outer sleeve and can be used as an independent light source by a user. Additionally, the illumination module is rechargeable in one embodiment and can provide an adequate charge to a mobile device.
Claims
1. A drinking vessel, comprising: an outer non-transparent cup sidewall; at least one aperture formed in the outer non-transparent cup sidewall; a lens conformed to fit into said at least one aperture of said outer non-transparent cup sidewall and capable of transmitting light; an inner cup; an upper connector ring; a lower connector ring having an outer edge that is exposed on the outer surface of the drinking vessel and adjacent to a bottom edge of the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and whereby an upper portion of the lower connector ring is joined to the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and whereby a lower portion of the lower connector ring is joined to a base; and a light source that transmits light upwards through a void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup whereby said light source transmits light vertically through said upper connector ring to create a distinct light effect on said upper connector ring, said light source transmits light vertically through a bottom edge and side edges of said lens which transmits light horizontally and outward to create a distinct light effect in said lens, and said light source transmits light vertically through said lower connector ring into said void and horizontally through said outer edge of said lower connector ring to create a distinct light effect in said lower connector ring.
2. The drinking vessel of claim 1 further comprising an indicia located on the lens.

The drinking vessel of claim 1 wherein the lens, the lower connector ring, and the upper connector ring are transparent or translucent and the light source is at least one light emitting diode located in a base of the vessel connected to a battery and operated by a switch located on said base of the vessel.
4. The drinking vessel of claim 3 wherein the light source is located on an illumination module located in a base illumination unit comprised of the base, the illumination module and a transparent or translucent lower connector ring.
5. The drinking vessel of claim 4 wherein the base illumination unit is removable from the outer sleeve by means of attachment and detachment of the base illumination unit such that the base illumination unit can be used to project light independently of the drinking vessel.
6. The drinking vessel of claim 5 further comprising an indicia located on the lens.
7. The drinking vessel of claim 6 wherein the illumination module has a printed circuit board with at least one said light emitting diode on its upper surface.
8. The drinking vessel of claim 7 wherein the light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
9. The drinking vessel of claim 8 wherein the illumination module printed circuit board has a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, a charging port and a switch for powering the illumination module on and off.
10. The drinking vessel of claim 9 wherein the illumination module further comprises a reverse charging circuit such that the rechargeable battery can charge a mobile device.

The drinking vessel of claim 10 wherein the illumination module has a plurality of light emitting diodes that are located on the upper surface and the outer perimeter of the printed circuit board in a circular array and facing upwards whereby said circular array of light emitting diodes are positioned on the printed circuit board directly below the void formed by the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup.

The drinking vessel of claim 3 further comprising an indicia on the lens and wherein the light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
13. A drinking vessel, comprising: an outer non-transparent cup sidewall; at least one aperture located in the non-transparent cup sidewall; a lens insertable into said aperture; an inner liner insertable into the outer non-transparent cup sidewall whereby said inner liner has an annular lip purposed for a drinking surface and a ring located below said annular lip whereby said ring is joined to the outer non-transparent cup sidewall; a transparent or translucent connector ring having a light transmitting outer edge that is exposed on the outer surface of the drinking vessel and adjacent to a bottom edge of the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and whereby an upper portion of the lower connector ring is joined to the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and whereby a lower portion of the lower connector ring is joined to a base; and a light source that transmits light upwards through a void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner liner and whereby said light source transmits light vertically through said annular lip to create a distinct light effect on said annular lip, said light source transmits light vertically through a bottom edge and side edges of said lens which transmits light horizontally and outward to create a distinct light effect in said lens, and said light source transmits light vertically through said connector ring into said void and horizontally through said outer edge of said connector ring to create a distinct light effect in said connector ring.
14. The vessel of claim 1 wherein the lens, the inner liner, the annular lip of the inner liner and the ring are transparent or translucent.
15. The vessel of claim 14, further comprising an indicia on the lens.
16. The drinking vessel of claim 15 wherein the light source is at least one light emitting diode located in the base of the vessel connected to a battery and operated by a switch located on said base of the vessel.
17. The vessel of claim 16 wherein the light source is located on an illumination module whereby said illumination module is located in a base illumination unit comprised of the base, the illumination module and the connector ring whereby the connector ring connects to the outer non-transparent cup sidewall on said connector ring upper portion and said connector ring connects to the base on a connector ring lower portion.
18. The vessel of claim 17 wherein the inner liner has a shoulder below the ring whereby the shoulder is in direct communication with the light source being transmitted through the void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner liner such that light is emitted from the annular lip.

The vessel of claim 13 wherein the connector ring joins to the base and encapsulates an illumination module such that there is formed a base illumination unit that is also removable and attachable to the bottom outer sleeve through means of attachment and detachment such that the base illumination unit can be used to project light independently of the drinking vessel.
20. The vessel of claim 19 wherein the illumination module further comprises a printed circuit board, at least one light emitting diode on its upper surface, a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, a charging port and a switch for powering the illumination module on and off.

The vessel of claim 20 wherein the at least one light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
22. The vessel of claim 21 further comprising a reverse charging circuit such that the rechargeable battery can charge a mobile device, a plurality of light emitting diodes that are located on the outer perimeter of the upper surface of the printed circuit board in a circular array whereby said circular array of light emitting diodes are positioned on the printed circuit board directly below the void formed by the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner liner, and where the switch is located on the bottom surface of the printed circuit board.
23. The vessel of claim 22 wherein the lens, inner liner, annular lip and ring are transparent or translucent and further comprising an indicia on the lens.
24. The vessel of claim 13 wherein the inner liner is formed of a photo luminescent material.
25. The vessel of claim 13 wherein the lens is formed onto the inner liner such that they are a unitary article and wherein the lens protrudes a distance out from the inner liner and is adapted to be insertable into the aperture such that there is a flush fit with the lens in the aperture and the lens further comprises an indicia on its outer surface.
26. A drinking vessel, comprising: an outer non-transparent cup sidewall; at least one aperture formed in the outer non-transparent cup sidewall; a lens conformed to fit into said at least one aperture of said outer non-transparent cup sidewall and capable of transmitting light whereby said lens has a lip on its outer edge that secures the lens in the aperture such that the lip is trapped behind the outer non-transparent cup sidewall directly adjacent to the aperture; an inner cup; a light source located in the bottom region of said drinking vessel whereby said light source transmits light upwards through a void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup and transmitting light through the lens bottom edge and lens side edges which transmits light horizontally and outward of the lens to create a distinct light effect in said lens and whereby said lens is recessed into the void and occupies the area between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup such that lens captures the light transmitted from the bottom region of the drinking vessel.
27. The drinking vessel of claim 26 wherein the vessel has a base and whereby there is an illumination module located in said base.
28. The drinking vessel of claim 26 further comprising a base illumination unit that is comprised of ft said base, said illumination module and a transparent or translucent connection ring whereby the illumination module is installed in the base and the connection ring is joined to the base and said base illumination unit is removable through means of detachment and reattachment with the bottom of the outer non-transparent cup sidewall such that the base illumination unit can be used to project light independently of the drinking vessel.
29. The drinking vessel of claim 28 wherein the illumination module has at least one light source located on its surface.
30. The drinking vessel of claim 29 wherein the at least one light source is a light emitting diode.
31. The drinking vessel of claim 30 wherein the light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
32. The drinking vessel of claim 29 wherein the illumination module has a printed circuit board, a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, a charging port and a switch for powering the illumination module on and off.
33. The drinking vessel of claim 32 wherein the illumination module further comprises a reverse charging circuit such that the rechargeable battery can charge a mobile device and said illumination module has a plurality of light emitting diodes that are located on the upper surface and the outer perimeter of the printed circuit board in a circular array and facing upwards whereby said circular array of light emitting diodes are positioned on the printed circuit board directly below the void formed by the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup.
34. The drinking vessel of claim 26 whereby said inner cup is an inner liner that is transparent or translucent and having an annular lip and ring on its upper surface.
35. A drinking vessel, comprising: non-transparent cup sidewall; an aperture located in the outer non-transparent cup sidewall; an inner liner whereby a protruding lens is formed onto the side of said inner liner such that the inner liner and the lens are a unitary article and the lens being adapted to be installed into the aperture from the interior of the drinking vessel; a connection ring having an outer edge that emits light outward from the drinking vessel; a base; and a light source that transmits light upwards through a void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner liner whereby said light source transmits light vertically through an upper edge of the inner liner to create a distinct light effect on said upper edge of the inner liner, said light source transmits light vertically through a bottom edge and side edges of said lens which transmits light horizontally and outward to create a distinct light effect in said lens, and said light source transmits light vertically through said connection ring into said void and horizontally through said outer edge of said connection ring to create a distinct light effect in said connection ring.
36. The vessel of claim 35 wherein the protruding lens, the inner liner and the connection ring are transparent or translucent and can be clear or colored.
37. The vessel of claim 35, further comprising an indicia on the protruding lens.
38. The drinking vessel of claim 35 wherein the light source is at least one light emitting diode located in the base of the vessel connected to a battery and operated by a switch located on a base of the vessel.
39. The vessel of claim 35 wherein the light source is located on top of an illumination module having a printed circuit board having at least one light emitting diode on its upper surface.
40. The vessel of claim 35 wherein the inner liner has an annular ring and an annular lip on its upper portion such that it promotes secure seating and flush connection with the outer sleeve when the inner liner is inserted into the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and whereby the annular lip is distinctly lit by the light transmitting upwards through the void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner liner.
41. The vessel of claim 35 wherein the connection ring joins to the base and encapsulates an illumination module such that there is formed a base illumination unit that is also removable and attachable to the bottom outer non-transparent cup sidewall through means of attachment and detachment such that the base illumination unit can be used to project light independently of the drinking vessel.
42. The vessel of claim 41 wherein the illumination module further comprises a printed circuit board, at least one light emitting diode on its upper surface, a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, a charging port and a switch for powering the illumination module on and off.
43. The vessel of claim 42 wherein the at least one light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
44. The vessel of claim 43 further comprising a reverse charging circuit such that the rechargeable battery can charge a mobile device, a plurality of light emitting diodes that are located on the outer perimeter of the upper surface of the printed circuit board in a circular array whereby said circular array of light emitting diodes are positioned on the printed circuit board directly below the void formed by the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup, and where the switch is located on the bottom surface of the printed circuit board.
45. The vessel of claim 35 wherein the protruding lens, inner liner, an annular lip and an annular ring located on the top of the inner liner, and the connection ring are transparent or translucent and further comprising an indicia on the protruding lens.
46. The vessel of claim 45 wherein the inner liner and protruding lens is formed of a photo luminescent material.
47. A drinking vessel, comprising: a transparent or translucent outer sleeve having at least one inward protruding lens that is transparent or translucent that is formed on an inner surface of said outer sleeve such that it protrudes inward and whereby the inward protruding lens and the outer sleeve are a unitary article and integral and whereby a non-transparent coating is applied to at least one of the outer surface and inner surface of the outer sleeve such that a transparent or translucent window is created on the outer surface of the outer sleeve by not applying the non-transparent coating in the area of the window and said window corresponds to the area occupied by the inward protruding lens interior of the window and the area on the inner surface of the protruding lens is left transparent and translucent; an inner liner having an annular lip; a connection ring; a base; and a light source that transmits light upwards through a void between the outer non-transparent cup sidewall and the inner cup whereby said light source transmits light vertically through said annular lip to create a distinct light effect on said annular lip, said light source transmits light vertically through a bottom edge and side edges of said inward protruding lens which transmits light horizontally and outward to create a distinct light effect in said inward protruding lens, and said light source transmits light vertically through said connection ring into said void and horizontally through said outer edge of said connection ring to create a distinct light effect in said connection ring.
48. The vessel of claim 47 whereby the connection ring has an outer edge that emits light outward from the drinking vessel.
49. The vessel of claim 48 wherein the protruding lens, the inner liner, the annular lip and the connection ring are transparent or translucent and can be clear or colored.
50. The vessel of claim 49, further comprising an indicia on the window.
51. The drinking vessel of claim 50 wherein the light source is at least one light emitting diode located in the base of the vessel connected to a battery and operated by a switch located on a base of the vessel.
52. The vessel of claim 50 wherein the light source is an illumination module having a printed circuit board having at least one light emitting diode on its upper surface.
53. The vessel of claim 50 wherein the inner liner has an annular ring and an annular lip on its upper portion such that it promotes secure seating and flush connection with the outer sleeve when the inner liner is inserted into the outer sleeve.

The vessel of claim 50 wherein the connection ring joins to the base and encapsulates an illumination module such that there is formed a base illumination unit that is also removable and attachable to the bottom outer sleeve through means of attachment and detachment of said outer sleeve such that the base illumination unit can be used to project light independently of the drinking vessel.
55. The vessel of claim 54 wherein the illumination module further comprises a printed circuit board, at least one light emitting diode on its upper surface, a rechargeable battery, a charging circuit, a charging port and a switch for powering the illumination module on and off.

The vessel of claim 55 wherein the at least one light emitting diode can be at least one of a white light emitting diode, a red light emitting diode, a green light emitting diode, a blue light emitting diode, an ultra-violet light emitting diode, a red-green-blue light emitting diode, and a red-green-blue-white light emitting diode.
57. The vessel of claim 56 further comprising a reverse charging circuit such that the rechargeable battery can charge a mobile device, a plurality of light emitting diodes that are located on the outer perimeter of the upper surface of the printed circuit board in a circular array and positioned on said printed circuit board directly below said void between the outer sleeve an the inner liner and whereby the light emitting diodes can be positioned at angle outward so as to match the angle of the void, and where the switch is located on the bottom surface of the printed circuit board.
58. The vessel of claim 50 wherein the inner liner is formed of a photo luminescent material.

In addition, connected to the Bluetooth module and illumination module 62 are optional micro speakers that can be installed into the base of the vessel 6. The battery 82 would power the micro speakers. This would allow a user to listen to music stored on their device but utilizes the base unit to be an optional speaker and power system to drive the playing of music or other media. (52) A further embodiment of the present invention would be a vessel 6 that does not have an aperture 10 in the outer sleeve 8, but comprises a removable base illumination unit 84 which comprises the base 34, the illumination module 62 and the connector ring 24. While the vessel 6 would not have the illuminated lens and indicia, it would still offer many benefits to users such that they can locate their drinking vessel 6 in dark environments and also use the removable base illumination unit 84. There are two versions of this embodiment. The first version would comprise the aforementioned outer sleeve 8 and inner liner 20 used in combination with the base illumination unit 84. The connector ring 24 would either be threaded on its top side or have a gasket 60 installed there around its top edge for connection to the bottom interior of the outer sleeve 8 having an inner liner 20. The second version of this embodiment would use a vessel 6 having a sidewall and a bottom.
