Shower Curtain System

Abstract

A shower curtain system that provides a quick means of attaching and detaching a shower curtain/liner. The shower curtain system includes an at least one attachment assembly, a shower rod, a first curtain, and a second curtain. The attachment assembly includes a plate body, a first fastener, a second fastener, a ring hole, and a mounting ring. The plate body is positioned in between the first curtain and the second curtain. The first curtain is attached to the plate body through the first fastener. The second curtain is attached to the plate body through the second fastener. The ring hole normally traverses through the plate body to receive the mounting ring. The mounting ring attached the plate body to the shower rod to vertically support the first curtain and the second curtain. A plurality of attachment assemblies is used to adequately support the first curtain and the second curtain.

Claims

1. A shower curtain system comprising: a plate body; a first fastener; a second fastener; a ring hole; the plate body comprises a first surface and a second surface; the first surface and the second surface being positioned parallel and opposite to each other, across the plate body; the first fastener being adjacently connected to the first surface; the second fastener being adjacently connected to the second surface; and the ring hole normally traversing through the plate body from the first surface to the second surface.

2. The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 1 comprising: a mounting ring; a shower rod; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the shower rod being positioned concentric with the mounting ring; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through the mounting ring.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 1 comprising: a first curtain; an at least one attachment assembly; the attachment assembly comprises the plate body, the first fastener, the second fastener, the ring hole, and a mounting ring; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the first fastener comprises a first interlocking element and a second interlocking element; the first curtain being positioned adjacent and parallel to the first surface; the first fastener being mechanically integrated in between the plate body and the first curtain; the first interlocking element being adjacently connected to the first surface; the second interlocking element being adjacently connected to the first curtain; and the first interlocking element being mechanically engaged to the second interlocking element.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 3 comprising: a shower rod; the at least one attachment assembly being a plurality of attachment assemblies; the plurality of attachment assemblies being linearly distributed along a top edge of the first curtain; the mounting ring for each of the plurality of attachment assemblies being concentrically positioned with each other; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through each of the plurality of attachment assemblies.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 1 comprising: a second curtain; an at least one attachment assembly; the attachment assembly comprises the plate body, the first fastener, the second fastener, the ring hole, and a mounting ring; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the second fastener comprises a third interlocking element and a fourth interlocking element; the second curtain being positioned adjacent and parallel to the second surface; the second fastener being mechanically integrated in between the plate body and the second curtain; the third interlocking element being adjacently connected to the second surface; the fourth interlocking element being adjacently connected to the second curtain; and the third interlocking element being mechanically engaged to the fourth interlocking element.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 5 comprising: a shower rod; the at least one attachment assembly being a plurality of attachment assemblies; the plurality of attachment assemblies being linearly distributed along a top edge of the second curtain; the mounting ring for each of the plurality of attachment assemblies being concentrically positioned with each other; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through the mounting ring of each of the plurality of attachment assemblies.

7. A shower curtain system comprising: a plate body; a first fastener; a second fastener; a ring hole; a mounting ring; a shower rod; the plate body comprises a first surface and a second surface; the first surface and the second surface being positioned parallel and opposite to each other, across the plate body; the first fastener being adjacently connected to the first surface; the second fastener being adjacently connected to the second surface; the ring hole normally traversing through the plate body from the first surface to the second surface; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the shower rod being positioned concentric with the mounting ring; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through the mounting ring.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 7 comprising: a first curtain; an at least one attachment assembly; the attachment assembly comprises the plate body, the first fastener, the second fastener, the ring hole, and a mounting ring; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the first fastener comprises a first interlocking element and a second interlocking element; the first curtain being positioned adjacent and parallel to the first surface; the first fastener being mechanically integrated in between the plate body and the first curtain; the first interlocking element being adjacently connected to the first surface; the second interlocking element being adjacently connected to the first curtain; and the first interlocking element being mechanically engaged to the second interlocking element.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 8 comprising: a shower rod; the at least one attachment assembly being a plurality of attachment assemblies; the plurality of attachment assemblies being linearly distributed along a top edge of the first curtain; the mounting ring for each of the plurality of attachment assemblies being concentrically positioned with each other; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through each of the plurality of attachment assemblies.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 7 comprising: a second curtain; an at least one attachment assembly; the attachment assembly comprises the plate body, the first fastener, the second fastener, the ring hole, and a mounting ring; the mounting ring being looped through the ring hole; the second fastener comprises a third interlocking element and a fourth interlocking element; the second curtain being positioned adjacent and parallel to the second surface; the second fastener being mechanically integrated in between the plate body and the second curtain; the third interlocking element being adjacently connected to the second surface; the fourth interlocking element being adjacently connected to the second curtain; and the third interlocking element being mechanically engaged to the fourth interlocking element.

The shower curtain system as claimed in claim 10 comprising: a shower rod; the at least one attachment assembly being a plurality of attachment assemblies; the plurality of attachment assemblies being linearly distributed along a top edge of the second curtain; the mounting ring for each of the plurality of attachment assemblies being concentrically positioned with each other; and the shower rod being mounted traversing through the mounting ring of each of the plurality of attachment assemblies.

[0012] The present invention is a shower curtain system that allows for quick and easy installment, maintenance, and replacement of shower curtains/liners. The present invention may be used to easily attach, mount, hang, or detach a shower liner and shower curtain that utilizes shower rings.

[0013] Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the present invention comprises a shower rod 12, a first curtain 13, a second curtain 15, and an at least one attachment assembly 17. The shower rod 12 is an elongated support structure that is mounted across a shower entrance in order to hang the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 across the entrance. The first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 enclose the shower area and keep water within the shower area. The first curtain 13 is preferably a shower curtain while the second curtain 15 is a shower liner. Specifically, the shower liner is positioned within the shower area, i.e. the tub basin, to prevent moisture leakage while the shower curtain is positioned outside the tub basin, providing an additional layer of protection and is often times decorated for aesthetical purposes. The present invention may be implemented with the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 included or the present invention may be used to attach standard shower curtains to the shower rod 12. The first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 are mounted to the shower rod 12 through the at least one attachment assembly 17. The at least one attachment assembly 17 mounts the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 to the shower rod 12.

[0014] Referring to FIG. 2 through FIG. 6, the main unique aspect of the present invention is the at least one attachment assembly 17. The attachment assembly 17 comprises a plate body 1, a first fastener 4, a second fastener 7, a ring hole 10, and a mounting ring 11. The plate body 1 is the main support structure that mounts the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 to the mounting ring 11, which in turn is mounted to the shower rod 12. Specifically, the plate body 1 mounts a point of the first curtain 13 and a point of the second curtain 15 to the mounting ring 11. The plate body 1 is preferably implemented as a flexible and waterproof piece of material with a rectangular geometry. Additionally, the plate body 1 comprises a first surface 2 and a second surface 3; wherein the first surface 2 and the second surface 3 are positioned parallel and opposite to each other, across the plate body 1. The first curtain 13 is mounted to the plate body 1 through the first fastener 4, while the second curtain 15 is mounted to the plate body 1 through the second fastener 7. In particular, the first fastener 4 is adjacently connected to the first surface 2. Mirroring the first fastener 4, the second fastener 7 is adjacently connected to the second surface 3. The ring hole 10 provides a means of attaching the mounting ring 11 to the plate body 1. The ring hole 10 is sized complimentary to the mounting ring 11 and normally traverses through the plate body 1 from the first surface 2 to the second surface 3. The mounting ring 11 is any traditional ring used in traditional shower curtain systems. The mounting ring 11 is looped through the ring hole 10 to vertically support the plate body 1 and, therefore, the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15. The shower rod 12 is positioned concentric with the mounting ring 11 and is mounted traversing through the mounting ring 11. This allows the attachment assembly 17 to slide along the shower rod 12, thus sliding the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 along the shower rod 12.

[0015] A variety of mechanisms may be used as the first fastener 4 and the second fastener 7 including, but not limited to, buttons, hook-and-loop fasteners, and other similar mechanisms. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, referring to FIG. 3 through FIG. 4, the first fastener 4 comprises a first interlocking element 5 and a second interlocking element 6. To attach the first curtain 13 to the plate body 1, the first fastener 4 is used. The first curtain 13 is positioned adjacent and parallel to the first surface 2; and, the first fastener 4 is mechanically integrated in between the planar body and the first curtain 13. Specifically, the first interlocking element 5 is adjacently connected to the first surface 2. Complimentary to the first interlocking element 5, the second interlocking element 6 is adjacently connected to the first curtain 13. To attach the first curtain 13 to the plate body 1, the first interlocking element 5 is mechanically engaged to the second interlocking element 6. It is preferred that the first interlocking element 5 is a male snap fastener and the second interlocking element 6 is a female snap fastener. This provides an easy, quick, and efficient means of attaching the first curtain 13 to the plate body 1. In this embodiment, to attach the first curtain 13, the male snap fastener is aligned and pressed against the female snap fastener until the male snap fastener is engaged within the female snap fastener. To detach, the male fastener and the female fastener are simply pulled away from each other until disengagement.

[0016] Referring to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the second fastener 7 comprises a third interlocking element 8 and a fourth interlocking element 9. To attach the second curtain 15 to the plate body 1, the second fastener 7 is used. The second curtain 15 is positioned adjacent and parallel to the second surface 3; and, the second fastener 7 is mechanically integrated in between the planar body and the second curtain 15. Specifically, the third interlocking element 8 is adjacently connected to the second surface 3. Complimentary to the third interlocking element 8, the fourth interlocking element 9 is adjacently connected to the second curtain 15. To attach the second curtain 15 to the plate body 1, the third interlocking element 8 is mechanically engaged to the fourth interlocking element 9. It is preferred that the third interlocking element 8 is a male snap fastener and the fourth interlocking element 9 is a female snap fastener. This provides an easy, quick, and efficient means of attaching the second curtain 15 to the plate body 1. In this embodiment, to attach the second curtain 15, the male snap fastener is aligned and pressed against the female snap fastener until the male snap fastener is engaged within the female snap fastener. To detach, the male fastener and the female fastener are simply pulled away from each other until disengagement.

[0017] Referring to FIG. 1, to provide adequate support for the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15, the at least one attachment mechanism is preferably a plurality of attachment assemblies 17; wherein the number within the plurality of attachment assemblies 17 is subject to change to support longer or shorter versions of the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15. Similar to traditional shower curtain designs, the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15 are positioned parallel and offset to each other. The plurality of attachment assemblies 17 is positioned in between the first curtain 13 and the second curtain 15. Additionally, the plurality of attachment assemblies 17 is distributed along a top edge 14 of the first curtain 13 and a top edge 16 of the second curtain 15. Furthermore, the mounting ring 11 for each of the plurality of attachment assemblies 17 is concentrically positioned with each other. This allows the shower rod 12 to be mounted traversing through the mounting ring 11 of each of the plurality of attachment assemblies 17, thus vertically supporting the present invention.

[0018] In another embodiment, the present invention may further comprise a light source. The light source may be integrated into of the plate body 1, wherein the plate body 1 is composed of a translucent material. In another embodiment, the light source is externally mounted to the plate body 1. The light source may be any type of light such as, but not limited to, a light emitting diode (LED). In an alternative embodiment, the present invention may further comprise a rechargeable battery power source and a controller unit. The power source is mounted inside of the plate body 1. The power source supplies the light source with electricity while the controller unit wirelessly controls the light source. This embodiment allows the present invention to be used as a lighting source such as a night light or designed illumination via attached ornaments. The present invention may further comprise a plurality of ornaments. The ornaments may be of various designs, sizes, and shapes. In this embodiment, each of the plurality of ornaments is attached to either the first curtain 13 or the second curtain 15 through a fastening mechanism to allow for customization.
