    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0018] FIG. 1 shows a fitted bed sheet having a plurality of utility pockets 100. The fitted bed sheet can have a body portion 102 and a plurality of utility pockets, which include side pockets (104-110) and end pockets (112-118). The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed on an exterior surface of the body 102 of the fitted bed sheet. The utility pockets (104-118) can include two pockets on each side of the fitted bed sheet (e.g., 104/106 and 108/110), and two pockets at each end (e.g., head and foot, 112/114 and 116/118) of the fitted bed sheet 100.

[0019] The arrangement (e.g., the placement) of the utility pockets 104-118 can be symmetrical across both a lengthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line A) and a widthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line B) so that the fitted bed sheet can be rotated 180 degrees from a first position to a second position without altering the placement/position of the utility pockets with reference to a fixed point. The fixed point can be the point of intersection of both axes.

[0020] In some implementations, the utility pockets on each side (104/106 and 108/110) can be configured to be equidistant from the center of the respective side of the sheet body and the utility pockets at each end (112/114 and 116/118) can also be configured to be equidistant from the center of the respective end of the sheet body. In some implementations, the side utility pocket (e.g., 104) and the end utility pocket (e.g., 112) can be configured to be equidistant from the respective seam or corner where the corresponding side and end of the sheet body meet.

[0021] Rotating the fitted bed sheet can help prevent wear and tear to only some areas or portions of the fitted bed sheet where a person's body rests most of the time. Some benefits of the symmetrical arrangement can include interchangeability of the orientation of fitted bedsheets regardless of the placement of the utility pockets on the fitted bedsheets without any difference in usability of the utility pockets or user experience and/or convenience vis--vis the utility pockets.

[0022] The plurality of utility pockets and the sheet body can form a single integrated unit. Also, the plurality of utility pockets can be configured to be not removable from the sheet body. Some benefits of the utility pockets and the sheet body being a single integrated unit can include lower cost of manufacturing fitted bedsheets and ease of maintaining the fitted bedsheets as integrated construction of the fitted bedsheets eliminates need of fasteners to attach the utility pockets to the sheet body. Use of such fasteners can increase the cost and/or complexity of producing the fitted bedsheets as well as increase the difficulty of cleaning and/or laundering such fitted bedsheets.

[0023] The utility pockets (104-118) can be constructed so as to be expandable. The utility pockets (104-118) can also include a top closure formed from one or more of elastic, hook-and-loop, zipper, button, snap, or the like. The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed to be expandable (e.g., by including side gussets, rounded profile, sides and/or bottoms, or the like).

[0024] In some implementations, the utility pockets (104-118) can include pockets of about 10-12 inches in width and about 8 inches in height. In some implementations, each side pocket (104-110) can be formed about 18 inches from the adjacent end edge (e.g., seam or corner where side and end of sheet body 102 meet), and each end pocket (112-118) can be formed about 9 inches from the adjacent side edge (e.g., seam or corner where side and end of sheet body 102 meet).

[0025] The utility pockets (104-118) can include more than two pockets on the ends of the sheet body. The utility pockets (104-118) can include three pockets on each end, with the third pocket formed so as to be centered on each respective end of the sheet body 102 of the fitted bed sheet.

[0026] The fitted bed sheet with utility pockets 100 can be formed from woven and/or knitted material. The utility pockets (104-118) can be formed from the same or a different material compared to material of the sheet body 102.

[0027] FIG. 2 shows an end view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets 100. The fitted bed sheet body 102 is shown along with two pillows 202, 204 on top of the bed and end pockets 112/114 at the end of the bed (e.g., head of the bed).

[0028] FIG. 3 is a side view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets 100. The side pockets 104/106 are shown. It will be appreciated that a fitted bed sheet having utility pockets can be made for any size of bed (e.g., twin, double, full, queen, king, California king, etc.). For some sizes (e.g., twin, etc.), there may only be one pocket at each end (e.g., the foot and head) of the fitted bed sheet, and the side pockets may be adjusted in size or placement according to the size of fitted bed sheet being contemplated.

[0029] FIG. 4 is a top view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets in some implementations. Example top pockets 402-408 are shown in FIG. 4. The top utility pockets (402-408) can be formed on an exterior surface of the body 410 of the fitted bed sheet. The utility pockets (402-408) can include two pockets towards each side of the bed sheet (e.g., 402/404 and 406/408) body 410.

[0030] FIG. 5 is a side view of an example fitted bed sheet having utility pockets in some implementations. Example top pockets 402/404 are shown in FIG. 5.

[0031] The arrangement (e.g., the placement) of the utility pockets 402-408 can be symmetrical across both a lengthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line A) and a widthwise axis (e.g., axis indicated by dashed line B) so that the fitted bed sheet can be rotated 180 degrees from a first position to a second position without altering the placement/position of the utility pockets with reference to a fixed point. The fixed point of reference can be, for example, the point of intersection of axes A and B.

[0032] Rotating the fitted bed sheet can help prevent wear and tear to only some areas or portions of the fitted bed sheet where a person's body rests most of the time. Some benefits of the symmetrical arrangement can include interchangeability of the orientation of fitted bedsheets regardless of the placement of the utility pockets on the fitted bedsheets without any difference in usability of the utility pockets or user experience and/or convenience vis--vis the utility pockets.

[0033] The plurality of utility pockets and the sheet body can form a single integrated unit.

[0034] It will be appreciated that the shapes and sizes of the sheet body, the plurality of pockets and the fitted sheet body described herein are for illustrative purposes only and not intended to be limiting. Other shapes and sizes can be used depending on a contemplated implementation.

[0035] It is therefore apparent that there is provided, in accordance with the various embodiments disclosed herein, a fitted sheet having utility pockets.

[0036] While the disclosed subject matter has been described in conjunction with a number of embodiments, it is evident that many alternatives, modifications and variations would be, or are, apparent to those of ordinary skill in the applicable arts. Accordingly, Applicant intends to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, equivalents and variations that are within the spirit and scope of the disclosed subject matter.
