    Abstract

    The invention disclosed herein is a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition comprising Melatonin and Nitrogenous compounds for improving plant growth, enhancing yield and decreasing the biotic-abiotic stresses on plants. The invention also disclosed herein is a process for preparation of said synergistic composition.

    Claims

    1. A synergistic plant growth stimulant composition for improving plant growth, enhancing yield and decreasing biotic-abiotic stresses on plants comprising: a) Melatonin; b) Nitrogenous compounds selected from urea and derivatives thereof amino acids and derivatives thereof proteins, protein digest and amines, either alone or in any combination thereof; and c) adjuvants and/or surfactant and/or excipients; wherein the ratio of Melatonin and Nitrogenous compounds varies from 0.5:1, 1:1, 1:10 and 1:20.

    2. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the Melatonin is present in an amount ranging from 0.01% to 10% and the Nitrogenous compounds are present in an amount ranging from 1 to 50% of the total composition.

The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the urea and its derivatives are selected from N, N-diformyl urea, N, N-diacetyl urea, di-substituted diaryl ureas, dialkyl ureas, diacyl ureas, aryl ureas, alkyl ureas, urea formaldehyde (including oligomers and polymers) and urea acrylamide compounds either alone or in combination thereof.

    4. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the amino acids and derivatives thereof are selected from alanine, valine, methionine, leucine, iso-leucine and phenylalanine, either alone or in any combination thereof.

    5. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the proteins or protein digest are selected from protein hydrolysate and/or peptide combination and/or enzymes, either alone or in my combination thereof.

    6. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the amines are selected from amidates, imidates, amine salts, amine oxides, polyamines, amines azides and aziridines, either alone or in any combination thereof.

    7. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the adjuvants and/or surfactant and/or excipients are selected from anionic, non-ionic and cationic surfactants, carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC), and lignosulfonates.

    8. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 7, wherein the adjuvants and/or surfactant and/or excipients are present in an amount of 0.1 to 5% of the total composition.

    9. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ratio of said composition and adjuvants/surfactant/excipients is about 1:0.25.

    10. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the composition further comprises plant growth hormones selected from Gibberelic acid and abscisic acid.

    11. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 10, wherein the plant growth hormones are present in an amount of 0.05 to 10% of the total composition.

    12. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein the ratio of said composition and plant growth hormones varies from 1:10:0.5, 1:20:1, 1:50:1 and 1:100:1.

    13. A process for the preparation of a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition according to claim 1, the process comprising: a) dissolving melatonin in DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide); b) dissolving nitrogenous compounds in water; c) mixing together the solutions of step (a) and step (b) in a ratio varying from 0.5:1 or 1:1 or 1:10 or 1:20; d) adding adjuvants/surfactants to the solution of step (c) in a ratio of 1:10, followed by making up to 300 ml volume per acre; and e) diluting the solution of step (d) with water for foliar application on crop.

A process for the preparation of a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition according to claim 10, the process comprising: a) dissolving melatonin in DMSO (Dimethyl sulfoxide); b) dissolving nitrogenous compounds in water; c) dissolving plant growth hormones in ethanol; d) mixing together the solutions of step (a), step (b) and step (c) in a ratio varying from 1:10:0.5 or 1:20:1 or 1:50:1 or 1:100:1; e) adding adjuvants/surfactants to the solution of step (d) in a ratio of 1:10, followed by making up to 300 ml volume per acre; and f) diluting the solution of step (e) with water for foliar application on crop.

    15. A method of increasing resistance to water-logging stress of plants, eliminating ROS (reactive oxygen species), alleviating oxidative damages on a plant caused by water logging stress and biotic stresses, the method comprising spraying a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition according to claim 1 on leaves as foliar application or by mixing in soil as fertilizer application.

The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 1, wherein said compositions are useful for improving plant growth, enhancing yield, increasing resistance to water-logging stress of plants, eliminating ROS (reactive oxygen species) and alleviating oxidative damages on the plant caused by water logging stress and biotic stresses.

    17. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 10, wherein the ratio of said composition and plant growth hormones varies from 1:10:0.5, 1:20:1, 1:50:1 and 1:100:1.

    18. The synergistic plant growth stimulant composition as claimed in claim 10, wherein said compositions are useful for improving plant growth, enhancing yield, increasing resistance to water-logging stress of plants, eliminating ROS (reactive oxygen species) and alleviating oxidative damages on the plant caused by water logging stress and biotic stresses.

    19. A method of increasing resistance to water-logging stress of plants, eliminating ROS (reactive oxygen species), alleviating oxidative damages on a plant caused by water logging stress and biotic stresses, the method comprising spraying a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition according to claim 10 on leaves as foliar application or by mixing in soil as fertilizer application.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

    [0024] The invention will now be described in detail in connection with certain preferred and optional embodiments, so that various aspects thereof may be more fully understood and appreciated. The melatonin, nitrogenous compounds and plant growth hormones used in present composition are commercially procured or synthetically manufactured.

    [0025] The present invention discloses a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition comprising Melatonin and Nitrogenous compounds along with suitable adjuvants and/or surfactant and/or excipients for improving plant growth, enhancing yield and decreasing biotic-abiotic stresses on plants.

    [0026] The nitrogenous compounds used in the present synergistic composition are selected from urea and its derivatives, amino acids and its derivatives, proteins, protein digest and amines, either alone or in combination thereof.

    [0027] Accordingly, in an embodiment, the present invention discloses a synergistic plant growth stimulant composition comprising Melatonin and Nitrogenous compounds such as urea and its derivatives selected from N, N-diformyl urea, N, N-diacetyl urea, di-substituted diaryl urea, dialkyl urea, diacyl urea, aryl urea, alkyl urea, urea formaldehyde (including oligomers and polymers) and urea acrylamide compounds either alone or in combination thereof.
