(77) Afatinib free base (100 gm) was taken in dimethylformamide (1000 ml) added with butylated hydroxytoluene (5 gm) at room temperature and stirred for 15 minutes. Added water (750 ml) slowly for 60 minutes and stirred for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The solid thus obtained was washed with dimethylformamide (50 ml) added with butylated hydroxytoluene (0.2 gm), water (37.5 ml) and dried to yield 85 gm of crystalline Afatinib free base.
