Abstract
A locking device for connecting a suspension device to a front fork of a bike, and includes an adapter which is connected between the suspension device and the front fork. A first part and a second part respectively extend from the top face and the bottom face of the adapter. The second part is inserted in the front fork. Multiple bores are defined through the adapter, and are located around the first part and the second part. An axial hole is defined through the first part and the second part, the steerer tube extends through the axial hole. Multiple bolts extend through the bores and are threadedly connected to threaded holes defined in the crown of the front fork. The suspension device and the front fork can be individually replaced and maintained.
Claims
1. A locking device for connecting a suspension device to a front fork of a bike, comprising: an adapter having a top face and a bottom face, the top face of the adapter contacting the suspension device, a first part extending axially and upward from the top face of the adapter, the bottom face of the adapter connected to the front fork, a second part extending axially and downward from the bottom face of the adapter, multiple bores defined through the top face and the bottom face of the adapter, the bores located around the first part and the second part, an axial hole defined through the first part and the second part, and multiple bolts extending through the bores and threadedly connected to threaded holes defined in a crown of the front fork.
2. The locking device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first part includes a protrusion which includes multiple radial portions protruding radially from an outer periphery of the protrusion, an extension extends radially from a lower portion of each radial portion, the bores are alternatively located between the extensions.
3. The locking device as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first part includes multiple curved recesses formed through a top of thereof, each of the curved recesses is located corresponding to and in communication with one of the bores, a cut-out is formed along a periphery of each bore and located between two extensions, each cut-out is located opposite to the curved recess corresponding thereto.
4. The locking device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each of the bores includes an opening, a path and a tapered ramp which is formed between the opening and the path, the opening is formed through the top face of the adapter, the path is defined through the bottom face of the adapter, a diameter of the opening is greater than that of the path.
5. The locking device as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of the bolts includes a head and a threaded shank which extends from the head, each head includes a top side, a bottom side and a tapered surface which is formed between the top side and the bottom side, the threaded shank of each bolt extends through the path of the bore corresponding thereto and is connected to the threaded hole of the front fork, the top side of each bolt is in flush with opening of the bore, or the top side of each bolt is located above the opening of the bore, the tapered surface of each bolt is engaged with the tapered ramp of the bore corresponding thereto.
6. The locking device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the front fork includes a through hole defined axially therethrough, the second part is inserted into the through hole, the bottom face of the adapter contacts a top of the front fork, a steerer tube extends through the axial hole of the second part from the top of the front fork, an end cap is connected to a lower end of the steerer tube.
7. The locking device as claimed in claim 6, wherein the suspension device includes a sleeve and a spring which is mounted to the steerer tube, the sleeve is mounted to the steerer tube and the spring, the sleeve is a retractable sleeve and has a lower end thereof contacting the extensions.
8. The locking device as claimed in claim 7, wherein an upper end of the sleeve is connected to a headset which is connected to the steerer tube, the spring is biased between an inner end of the sleeve and an underside of the headset.
9. The locking device as claimed in claim 1, wherein a recessed area is formed to a top of the crown of the front fork and includes a flange that encloses an inner bottom of the recessed area, the adapter is located in the recessed area, a periphery of the adapter contacts an inner periphery of the flange, the threaded holes are defined in the inner bottom of the recessed area.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
[0019] Referring to
[0020] As shown in
[0021] As shown in
[0022] The first part 13 includes multiple curved recesses 133 formed through the top of thereof. Each of the curved recesses 133 is located corresponding to and in communication with one of the bores 15. A cut-out 134 is formed along the periphery of each bore 15 and located between two extensions 132. Each cut-out 134 is located opposite to the curved recess 133 corresponding thereto. The users can use a tool to easily access the bolts 2 via the curved recesses 133. The cut-outs 134 allow the user to insert the user's finger to access the bores 15 to pick the bolts 2 out from the bores 15.
[0023] As shown in
[0024] As shown in
[0025] The suspension device 200 includes a sleeve 201 and a spring 202 which is mounted to the steerer tube 400. The sleeve 201 is mounted to the steerer tube 400 and the spring 202. The sleeve 201 is a retractable sleeve 201 and its lower end contacts the top of the extensions 132. An upper end of the sleeve 201 is connected to the headset 600 which is connected to the steerer tube 400. The spring 202 is biased between an inner end of the sleeve 201 and an underside of the headset 600, so that the spring 202 is compressed and bounces back along the direction of the force that applies to the spring 202. The sleeve 201 protects the spring 202 from being affected by any foreign objects as shown in
