Abstract
The present disclosure is directed to a new urn display device (urn pedestal) for displaying an urn during a funeral ceremony. The urn display device includes a base that covers and encloses the burial opening where the urn is placed after the ceremony, provides a safe “floor” for anyone approaching the urn, and a central hole in the base that allows the urn to be passed through the base into a burial opening after the ceremony.
Claims
1. An urn display device comprising: a base comprising a central hole extending through the base; a shaft; and a display surface; wherein the shaft extends from the base to the display surface; wherein the display surface comprises a placement area for an urn; wherein the shaft is detachable from the base to expose the central hole; wherein the base is large enough to span a burial opening; and wherein the central hole is large enough to allow an urn to be passed through the central hole into a burial opening.
2. The urn display device of claim 1 further comprising one or more anchoring holes.
3. The urn display device of claim 2 comprising at least two anchoring holes.
4. The urn display device of claim 3 comprising at least four anchoring holes.
5. The urn display device of claim 2 further comprising one or more anchoring rods which extend into and through the one or more anchoring holes to secure the base to a surface beneath the base.
6. The urn display device of claim 5, wherein the surface beneath the base is ground surrounding the burial opening.
7. The urn display device of claim 1 wherein the base is wider than the display surface.
8. The urn display device of claim 1 wherein the base is longer than the display surface.
9. The urn display device of claim 1, wherein the display surface is at a maximum height of eye level of an individual in a seated position viewing the urn display device.
10. The urn display device of claim 1, wherein the base encloses the shaft on three sides.
11. The urn display device of claim 1, wherein the base encloses the shaft on four sides.
12. The urn display device of claim 1, wherein the shaft has a side surface, and at least a portion of the side surface is magnetic.
