Abstract
The wiper device includes a carrier element and a wiper blade with at least one longitudinal groove, in which groove the carrier element is disposed. The wiper device also includes a connecting device for pivotally connecting the wiper blade with an oscillating arm. The connecting device has spaced-apart sidewalls, each with a protrusion that extends sidewardly and outwardly. The connecting device and oscillating arm are interconnected by the protrusions pivotally and snappingly engaging into correspondingly shaped recesses of the oscillating arm. The oscillating arm has a guiding tongue engaging into a guiding groove of the connecting device. The connecting device has an asymmetric form with respect to its middle transverse plane, seen in vertical direction, in order to ensure that the wiper blade can only be mounted on the oscillating arm in a predetermined orientation of the wiper blade relative to the oscillating arm.
Claims
1. An elongated wiper blade of a flexible material, which can be placed in abutment with a windscreen to be wiped, which wiper blade includes at least one longitudinal groove, in which groove a longitudinal strip of a carrier element is disposed, which wiper blade comprises a connecting device for an oscillating arm, wherein said connecting device comprises at least two opposing spaced-apart sidewalls each comprising an integral protrusion extending laterally outwardly of said respective side wall along a common pivot axis, wherein said connecting device comprises a guiding groove defined between said sidewalls and a bottom thereof and extending in a longitudinal direction of said connecting device and separating said protrusions; and wherein said connecting device has an asymmetric form with respect to a middle transverse plane containing said pivot axis of said connecting device, seen in vertical direction, and wherein a transverse rib is provided in said guiding groove and extends upwardly from the bottom and which is spaced closer to said pivot axis than an opposing end wall spaced on an opposite side of said pivot axis in order to ensure that said wiper blade can only be mounted on said oscillating arm in a predetermined orientation of said wiper blade relative to the oscillating arm.
2. The wiper blade as set forth in claim 1, wherein said connecting device is made in one monolithic piece of plastic.
3. The wiper blade as set forth in claim 1, wherein said connecting device comprises an extension on a side of said connecting device for obtaining said asymmetric form of said connecting device.
4. The wiper blade as set forth in claim 1, further including an oscillating arm with a guiding tongue.
5. The wiper blade as set forth in claim 4, wherein said connecting device is located inside said oscillating arm at a location of their interconnection.
6. The wiper blade as set forth in claim 5 wherein said oscillating arm has a U-shaped cross-section, and wherein said guiding tongue extends downwardly from a base of said U-shaped cross-section.
7. A wiper blade assembly comprising a wiper arm and a wiper blade, said wiper blade including a connecting device comprising at least two opposing spaced-apart sidewalls each comprising a protrusion extending sidewardly and outwardly, and formed as integral portions of said side walls wherein said connecting device is connectable to said wiper arm by said protrusions pivotally and snappingly engaging into correspondingly shaped recesses of said wiper arm, wherein said connecting device comprises a guiding groove defined between said sidewalls and a bottom thereof and receiving a downwardly extending guiding tongue of said wiper arm therein when connected, and wherein said connecting device has an asymmetric form with respect to a middle transverse plane of said connecting device, seen in vertical direction, and wherein a transverse rib is provided in said guiding groove and extends upwardly from the bottom in order to ensure that said wiper blade can only be mounted on said wiper arm in a predetermined orientation of said wiper blade relative to said wiper arm, and wherein a cover portion of said wiper arm fits over and covers said side walls and protrusions when said wiper arm is connected to said connecting device.
8. The wiper blade assembly as set forth in claim 7, wherein said connecting device is made in one piece of plastic.
9. The wiper blade assembly as set forth in claim 7, wherein said connecting device is made as one monolithic piece of plastic.
10. The wiper blade assembly as set forth in claim 7 wherein said wiper arm has a U-shaped cross-section, and wherein said guiding tongue extends downwardly from a base of said U-shaped cross-section.
11. A wiper assembly, comprising: an oscillating arm; and an elongated wiper blade of a flexible material, which can be placed in abutment with a windscreen to be wiped, which wiper blade includes at least one longitudinal groove, in which groove a longitudinal strip of a carrier element is disposed, which wiper blade comprises a connecting device for an oscillating arm, wherein said connecting device comprises at least two opposing spaced-apart sidewalls each comprising a protrusion extending sidewardly and, wherein said connecting device can be connected to said oscillating arm by said protrusions pivotally and snappingly engaging into correspondingly shaped recesses of said oscillating arm, wherein said connecting device comprises a guiding groove defined between said sidewalls and a bottom thereof and the guiding groove separating the protrusions and being arranged for receiving a downwardly extending guiding tongue of the oscillating arm, and wherein said connecting device has an asymmetric form with respect to a middle transverse plane of said connecting device, seen in vertical direction, and wherein a transverse rib is provided in said guiding groove and extends upwardly from the bottom in order to ensure that said wiper blade can only be mounted on said oscillating arm in a predetermined orientation of said wiper blade relative to the oscillating arm, and wherein said oscillating arm has a U-shaped cross-section, and wherein said guiding tongue extends downwardly from a base of said U-shaped cross-section, and wherein said guiding tongue occupies space in said guiding groove that is co-axial with said protrusions when said oscillating arm is attached with said connecting device.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
(9)
(10) The windscreen wiper device 1 is further more built up of a connecting device 7 of plastic or metallic material for an oscillating wiper arm 8. Connecting device 7 comprises
(11) clamping members 9 that are integral therewith, which engage round longitudinal sides of the strips 4 that face away from each other, as a result of which the connecting device 7 is firmly attached to the unit consisting of wiper blade 2 and strips 4. The oscillating wiper arm 8 is pivotally connected to the connecting device 7 about a pivot axis near one end. Further, the oscillating arm 8 is connected to a mounting head fixed 10 for rotation to a shaft driven by a small motor (not shown), In use, the shaft rotates alternately in a clockwise and in a counter-clockwise sense carrying the mounting head 10 into rotation also, which in turn draws the oscillating arm 8 into rotation and by means of the connecting device 7 moves the wiper blade 2.
