    Abstract

    A wearable travel pillow. The wearable travel pillow includes a body designed to fit a pillow on the upper surface of the body. A pillow cover is also attached to the body. The pillow cover can selectively cover the pillow. The body also has a wrist strap so that the wearable travel pillow can be worn on the wearer's wrist.

    Claims

    1) A wearable travel pillow, comprising: a body having an upper surface and a lower surface; a pillow disposed on the upper surface; a pillow cover disposed on the upper surface, wherein the pillow cover is dimensioned to cover the pillow; wherein the pillow cover is configured to be freely movable between a covered position and an uncovered position; wherein the pillow is disposed within a cavity defined by the pillow cover when the pillow cover is in the covered position; and a wrist strap disposed on the lower surface of the body.

    2) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the pillow is removable from the upper surface of the body.

    3) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the wrist strap is removable from the lower surface of the body.

    4) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the pillow comprises a circular body.

    5) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the body is dimensioned to be an identical size and an identical shape of the pillow.

    6) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the pillow cover comprises a fastener configured to secure the pillow cover to the body when in a covered position.

    7) The wearable travel pillow of claim 6, wherein the fastener comprises a snap mechanism.

    8) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the pillow comprises at least one indicium on an external surface thereof.

    9) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the wrist strap is adjustable.

    10) The wearable travel pillow of claim 9, wherein the wrist strap comprises a hook and loop fastener.

    11) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the pillow is made of memory foam.

    12) The wearable travel pillow of claim 1, wherein the body comprises a plurality of arms extending therefrom wherein the plurality of arms is configured to secure the body to the wrist band.

    DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

    [0021] Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the wearable travel pillow. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

    [0022] Referring now to FIG. 1, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the wearable travel pillow in the uncovered position. The wearable travel pillow 10 comprises a body 11. The body comprises an upper surface 12 opposite a lower surface. In one embodiment, the body 11 is rigid such that support is provided by the body 11. In one embodiment, the body 11 is circular in shape. In another embodiment, the body 11 is flexible to alleviate pressure exerted upon a wrist of a user.

    [0023] The upper surface 12 of the body 11 is configured to receive and support a pillow 13 thereon. The pillow 13 comprises an internal compartment wherein a padding substance is disposed in the internal compartment. The padding substance is configured to provide comfort to a user when the user rests on the wearable travel pillow 10. In the shown embodiment, the pillow 13 is circular in shape. In another embodiment, the pillow 13 comprises memory foam disposed in the internal compartment. In one embodiment, the pillow 13 is 3.5 inches in diameter. In another embodiment, the pillow is 1.5 inches thick. The 3.5 inch diameter is designed to support the average sized human. The 1.5 inch thickness is adapted to provide optimal comfort to the user.

    [0024] Additionally, in an alternate embodiment, the body 11 is dimensioned to be an identical size and shape to the pillow 13. When the body 11 is dimensioned to be of identical size and shape as the pillow 13, support is provided to the entire periphery of the pillow 13. This is will prevent areas where the pillow 13 does not have support thereunder, which may be uncomfortable to a user.

    [0025] In one embodiment, the pillow 13 is removably attached to the body 11. Removable attachment of the pillow 13 provides convenience to a user by allowing the pillow 13 to be removed in order to clean the pillow 13 or to use the pillow 13 separately from the wearable apparatus. The pillow is removably securable to the body 11 by any suitable means, such as a hook and loop fastener or a magnetic fastener.

    [0026] Additionally, a pillow cover 14 is disposed on the upper surface of the body 11. The pillow cover 14 is dimensioned to engulf the pillow therein. The pillow cover 14 is freely movable between a covered position (as shown in FIG. 2) and an uncovered position (as shown in FIG. 1). The covered position is defined where the pillow 13 is engulfed in the pillow cover 14, such that a user's head rests on the cover 14 when the wearable travel pillow 10 is in use. The uncovered position is defined where the pillow 13 is externally presented. The pillow cover 14 enables a user to cover the pillow 13 where the pillow becomes tarnished or otherwise unsuitable for use by the user. In some embodiments, the pillow cover 14 is removable such that the pillow cover 14 can be washed.

    [0027] In another embodiment, the pillow cover 14 is dimensioned to cover both the pillow 13 and the body 11. In another embodiment, the pillow cover 14 is circular and has a diameter of 4.625 inches. The diameter of the pillow cover 14 is greater than the diameter of the pillow 13. In yet another embodiment, the pillow cover 14 is made of a stretch material. In one embodiment the stretch material is made of 80% nylon and 20% Spandex.

    [0028] In the shown embodiment, an indicium 17 is disposed on an external surface of the pillow cover 14. The indicium 17 is configured to be displayed when the wearable travel pillow 10 is in the covered position. Furthermore, the indicium 17 may be of any suitable configuration, such as to enable personalization by a user. The indicium 17 enables customization of the wearable travel pillow 10 and will notify the wearer if the pillow is in the covered position or the uncovered position.

    [0029] Referring now to FIG. 2, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the wearable travel pillow in the covered position. The covered position is defined where the pillow is placed within a cavity defined by the pillow cover 14. The pillow cover 14 is removably attachable so that, for among other reasons, it can be cleaned. In one embodiment, the pillow cover 14 is removable at the perimeter edges of the body 11.

    [0030] In another embodiment, the wearable travel pillow 10 comprises a fastener 18 configured to secure the pillow cover 14 in the covered position. In one embodiment, the fastener comprises a locking channel. In the shown embodiment, the fastener 18 comprises a snap mechanism, wherein the snap mechanism comprises a male connector disposed on the pillow cover 14 and a female connector disposed on the body 11. In alternate embodiments, any suitable fastener may be utilized to secure the pillow cover 14 in the covered position such as a magnetic fastener, a hook and loop fastener, or the like.

    [0031] In the shown embodiment, the body 11 comprises a plurality of arms 19 extending therefrom. The plurality of arms 19 is configured to attach the body 11 to a wrist strap 15. Each arm of the plurality of arms comprises an aperture therethrough such that a support can be inserted therethrough to connect the body 11 to the wrist strap 15. The support extending between opposing arms on either side of the body 11 defines an opening between a lower side of the body 11 and an upper side of the support through which the wrist strap 15 is inserted.

    [0032] Referring now to FIG. 3, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the wearable travel pillow. The wrist strap 15 is attached to a lower surface 16 of the body 11. In one embodiment, the wrist strap 15 comprises a pad disposed in a nylon webbing secured by a polyester binding in order to provide comfort to the wearer. The wrist strap 15 is of any suitable construction for securing the body to the wrist of the user. In one embodiment, the wrist strap is configured to be elastic so as to adjustably secure to a wearer's wrist.

    [0033] In one embodiment, the wrist strap 15 is removably secured to the lower surface 16 of the body 11 via a fastener such as a magnet, a hook and loop fastener, an adhesive or the like. The wrist strap 15 is removable such that the pillow and pillow cover may be used when the wearable travel pillow 10 is not being worn. For example, a wearer may desire to remove the wrist strap such that the lower surface 16 of the body 11 can be rested upon a flat surface, such as a table or desk.

    [0034] In the shown embodiment the wrist strap 15 is adjustable by the action of a button 20 disposed on a first end of the wrist strap and a plurality of corresponding clasps 19 disposed on a second end of the wrist strap 15. In another embodiment, the wrist strap 15 is adjustable via a hook and loop fastener disposed on the wrist strap 15.

    [0035] Referring now to FIG. 4, there is shown a perspective view of an embodiment of the wearable travel pillow in use. In use, the body 11 is attached to both the wrist strap 15 and the pillow 13. The wrist strap 15 is configured to be wrapped around the wrist of a user. When the wrist strap 15 is secured around the wrist of a user, the pillow 13 can be placed in a desired position such that the pillow 13 provides a comfortable surface to the user. In the shown embodiment, the pillow 13 is disposed on a top surface of the wrist of a user. However, the pillow 13 may be rotated about the wearer's wrist until a desired pillow position is achieved. In this way, the wearable travel pillow can provide a comfortable and adjustable support for a user's head.

    [0036] Referring now to FIG. 5, there is shown an exploded view of an embodiment of the wearable travel pillow. In one embodiment, the pillow and the pillow cover are separable by the action of a removable plate 51. The removable plate 51 is configured to attach to the base. In the illustrated embodiment, the removable plate 51 is secured to the base by a plurality of fasteners 52. In another embodiment, the removable plate 51 is frictionally securable to the base 11. The removable plate 51 is rigid such that the pillow cover is tensioned over the pillow when the removable plate is engaged with the base 11.
