ADJUSTABLE MATTRESS

Abstract

An adjustable mattress has a comfort layer and support layer that are separable, replaceable and able to be arranged individually for obtaining the level of hardness and comfort most suitable to a user's desire. An adjustable mattress consists of a comfort layer, a support layer, uniting parts, and springs. The comfort layer is a surface layer on the mattress that can be made from materials of foam or latex or fiber or gel or spring, recycled foam, recycled latex (rebounded) or wrapped spring of various diameters and heights, support layer containing springs, wrapped springs or arranged springs inside the foam as parts of the support layer, the uniting part can be in the form of magnet and iron plate, zipper, button or Velcro placed in the comfort layer and support layer.

Claims

1. An adjustable mattress consisting of: a comfort layer 1, positioned at the top of the mattress; a support layer 2, having the shape of square box, shaping the mattress body in general, positioned at the lower part of the support layer; at least four uniting parts 3 are permanently installed at the comfort layer 1 elongated downward until reaching the lower part of the support layer 2; a number of springs 4 having the shape of spiral springs, arranged in rows in the support layer to provide softness on the mattress upper surface; featured by the comfort layer 1 that is only in the form of surface layer on the mattress, support layer 2 in the form of wrapped springs 4 or arranged springs 4 inside the foam as part of support layer, the uniting part 3 placed in the comfort layer 1 and support layer 2.

2. The adjustable mattress according to claim 1, wherein the comfort layer is preferably made of materials like foam or latex or synthetic fiber or natural fiber or gel or spring or recycled foam, recycled latex or wrapped springs with different variations of diameter and height.

3. The adjustable mattress according to claim 1, wherein the uniting part is preferably made of magnet, zipper or button or Velcro.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION

[0014] Now, referring to FIG. 1, which shows two main parts forming an adjustable mattress composed of the comfort layer 1 and the support layer 2. The comfort layer 1 and the support layer 2 are united.

[0015] Referring to FIG. 2, which shows the method of uniting the comfort layer 1 and the support layer 2 by the uniting part 3.

[0016] The comfort layer 1 is pushed down so that the uniting part 3 in the comfort layer 1 can attach to the uniting part 3 in the support layer 2 (see FIG. 3). In the preferred embodiment, the uniting part 3 may be of magnetic material 3a and iron plates 3b as it can attach strongly and not easily broken. Besides using magnet 3a and iron plates 3b, this invention can use a uniting material or other attaching material like zipper or button or hook and loop fastener (i.e., Velcro) as the uniting part 3.

[0017] Finally, referring to FIG. 3, which clearly shows the detailed structure of the adjustable mattress, comprised of the comfort layer 1, support layer 2, uniting part 3 includes magnets 3a and iron plates 3b and springs 4. Magnets 3a are placed in the comfort layer 1, while the iron plates 3b are placed in the support layer 2. The comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 can unite after the magnets 3a and iron plates 3b have been attached to one another and produce an audible click. The magnets 3a and iron plates 3b also function to maintain the position to prevent the comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 from easily separating from one another.

[0018] In the preferred embodiment, the comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 may be formed from one or more materials, for example, foam or latex or synthetic fiber or natural fiber or gel or spring or recycled foam, recycled latex or wrapped spring with various diameters and heights.

[0019] The selection of comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 will influence the level of hardness and comfort given. The comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 are sold individually so that the users are given freedom to decide their own preference according to their desires and budgets.

[0020] By the additional accessories, magnet 3a can also function as container for placing an object (e.g. telephone or remote control).

[0021] In the preferred embodiment, since the comfort layer 1 and support layer 2 can be purchased individually, when the users buy and require the comfort layer 1 only, they will receive the surface layer on the mattress only. Other use of the comfort layer 1 is as mattress in the living room, mattress for babies or children playing and when the users only buy the support layer 2 they will obtain a layer containing only springs, wrapped springs or arranged springs inside the foam (perimeter support system) as parts of support layer.
