Abstract
A bag of thin plastic material shaped into a container having a closed end and an open end cut to provide two tying portions, and sides extending between the open and closed ends. The plastic material is of a color and has at least an antimicrobial agent, and has an imprinted design or pattern. The bag is of a size suitable for receiving a single product, such as a used feminine hygiene product, along with any other material in the use or replacement of such product by a user, in which the tying portions are tieable to seal the product within the bag. When a product is sealed in the bag by a user, the antimicrobial agent inhibits the growth of odor causing bacteria, the scent masks any odors, and the color and imprinted design assists to conceal or obfuscate any blood on a used feminine product in the bag.
Claims
1. A bag for hygienic disposal of a used product comprising: plastic material shaped into a container having a closed end, an open end with two tying portions, and a front, a back, and two sides extending between the open and closed ends, said open end has an edge opposite said closed end in which said edge extends at least between and below said two tying portions, said bag being operable in first, second, third, and fourth modes, wherein said bag in said first mode lies in a compressed state, said bag in said second mode is in an expanded state, said bag in said third mode is in said expanded state with said open end open and holds at least a used product received via said open end with human bodily material naturally released from an orifice along the pelvis of a human body and associated with use by a user of said used product, and said bag in said fourth mode said tying portions are tied to retain said open end closed with said at least used product with the human bodily material in said bag, wherein said bag is vacant of any unused feminine hygiene or incontinence product until receiving said at least used product with the human bodily material, and said front and said back are of identical length and width dimensions when said bag is present in said expanded state in said second and third modes; and imprinted material of a common pattern upon at least the front and the back of the bag between said closed end and said open end, wherein said plastic material is of a color and allows transmission of light there through, and said imprinted material is of a different shade of said color of said plastic material so that said imprinted material and plastic material are operable together in said third and fourth modes to hinder perception of the human bodily material received in said bag with said used product, wherein both said color of said material and said different shade of said color are generally associated with the human bodily material released from the orifice when present on said used product, wherein no unused hygiene or incontinence product is at any time externally attached to said bag prior to said bag being operated in said third mode, and wherein said edge along said open end maintains its position along said open end relative to said closed end at a time of receiving said used product in said bag during said third mode and then at closing said open end using said tying portions in said fourth mode.
2. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said imprinted material is of a darker shade of said color of said plastic material so that said bag promotes hindering of perception of the human bodily material received in said bag with said used product in said third and fourth modes.
3. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said common pattern of said imprinted material continuously repeats without interruption upon at least an entirety of the front and the back of the bag extending between said closed end and said open end.
4. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said plastic material has one or more of antimicrobial and fragrance material in the plastic material when said plastic material was formed.
5. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said used product is at least a used feminine hygiene product or a used incontinence product.
6. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said color of said plastic material shaped into said container is entirely pink.
7. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said bag in said third mode and said fourth mode further holds non-human bodily material associated with use or replacement of said product by a user of said used product.
8. The bag according to claim 1 wherein sides have gussets which fold said sides inward toward each other.
9. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said two tying portions are handles extending from said open end.
10. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said front and said back further to being identical in said width and said length dimensions, and having said common imprinted material, are provided without any device distinguishing which portion of said bag represents said front and said back of said bag in order to locate said open end of said bag in said third mode.
11. The bag according to claim 1 wherein said bag is one of a plurality of said bag disposed in said first mode in a dispenser, and said dispenser has an opening for individually accessing each of said plurality of said bag therefrom.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
(12) Referring to
(13) Bag 10 is formed of plastic material, such as a base of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) resin with additional color resin, antimicrobial resin, and fragrance materials. To make the plastic material colored, such as pastel pink color, an HDPE-compatible color resin is used, such as available from A. Schulman, Inc., Akron Ohio, USA. In the case of a pastel pink color for example, the color resin is of a HDPE specified color matched to Pantone Matching System (PMS) #196.
(14) The antimicrobial resin may be, for example, Polybatch ASX 502 resin, also available from A. Schulman, Inc. Preferably, the antimicrobial resin provides an antimicrobial agent in the plastic material which is EPA registered as being effective against a wide spectrum of microorganisms, such as e-coli bacteria and fungus. Preferably, the color and antimicrobial resins are compounded together, and such compound color and antimicrobial resin products are also available from A. Schulman, Inc. Resulting compounded color and antimicrobial resins may be of 6% Amorphous Silica and 60% Titanium Dioxide.
(15) The fragrance is a poly based material or Perfumery Compound, such as available from International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), of Hazlet N.J., USA. For example, the fragrance may be IFF catalog number XBF-800230, Sweet Dreams, and such material may be a Poly IFF Concentrate when supplied in pellet form. As other base plastic resins, color resin, and antimicrobial resin components may be used, such components are not limited to those specified herein. For example, the bag's plastic material may be of a base material of combined HDPE and Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) resins with color compatible resin, antimicrobial resin, and fragrance materials.
(16) Pellets providing the compounded color and antimicrobial resins, fragrance, and base resin(s) are mixed together in a hopper, heated to a point where the material is extruded into a thin film, formed into a tube of specified thickness, width and gusset, imprinted, and die cut into its final shape. When so mixed together, the fragrance material is combined in 2% ratio with base resin(s). The compounded color and antimicrobial resins are combined with the base resin(s) in the hopper to obtain the desired color and antimicrobial strength. The compounded color and antimicrobial resins may for example be in a 5% ratio (e.g., Let Down Ratio) when combined with base resin materials. Other methods for combining the components of the bag plastic material may also be used.
(17) As shown in
(18)
(19) Other dispensers may be used than shown in
(20) From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that an improved disposable bag for hygienic disposal of a used product has been provided. Variations and modifications of the herein described bag, dispenser, and method of use, other applications for the invention will undoubtedly suggest themselves to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the foregoing description should be taken as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
