    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0039] An arrangement consisting of a first embodiment of a spark plug connector and a spark plug 5 is shown in FIG. 1. This arrangement is arranged in a valve cover 10 of an internal combustion engine 11 via a spark plug sleeve 13, formed multi-part here, and is held on the valve cover 10 via a plate 9.

[0040] From an ignition coil, not represented in the figures, a sparking voltage is conducted via a high-tension lead 4, which is implemented here as a high-tension cable and which (guided via a cable guide 14 formed, for example, as a rubber grommet) enters the connector body 1 at a first end portion 2 thereof, to the spark plug connector and is guided, via an electrical wiring section which runs inside the connector body 1 of the spark plug connector, to a spark plug 5, which is arranged partially in a second end portion 3 of the connector body 1. Contrary to what is represented, the connector body 1 can also be formed as a single-part.

[0041] The electrical wiring section in this embodiment (in a sequence starting from the first end portion 2 towards the second end portion 3) consists of three inductors 6 and an interconnection 7.

[0042] In FIG. 2A, a detail of an internal combustion engine 11 with an arrangement consisting of a second embodiment of a spark plug connector and a spark plug 5 is represented, wherein the electrical wiring section here (in a sequence starting from the first end portion 2 towards the second end portion 3) consists of an inductor 6, an interconnection 7, an ohmic resistor 8, and a further interconnection 7. In this embodiment, an ignition coil 16 is arranged directly on the first end portion 2 of the connector body 1. Contrary to what is represented, the ignition coil 16 need not be arranged concentric to the axis of the spark plug well.

[0043] In FIG. 2B, a detail of an internal combustion engine 11 with an arrangement consisting of a third embodiment of a spark plug connector and a spark plug 5 is represented, wherein the electrical wiring section here (in a sequence starting from the first end portion 2 towards the second end portion 3) consists of a first inductor 6, an interconnection 7, a second inductor 6, and a further interconnection 7. In this embodiment, an ignition coil 16 is arranged directly on the first end portion 2 of the connector body 1.

[0044] FIGS. 3A to 3D show different possibilities of placing the at least one inductor 6 relative to the valve cover 10, namely underneath the valve cover 10 (FIG. 3A), partially on top of and partially underneath the valve cover 10 (FIGS. 3B and 3D) and on top of the valve cover 10 (FIG. 3C).

[0045] FIG. 4A shows the possibility of fastening an arrangement consisting of a spark plug connector, a spark plug 5, and a spark plug sleeve 13 to an upper side of the valve cover 10 via a plate 9.

[0046] FIG. 4B shows the possibility of fastening an arrangement consisting of a spark plug connector, a spark plug 5, and a spark plug sleeve 13 over the spark plug 5 in the region of an underside of the valve cover 10, which delimits a combustion chamber, not represented, of the internal combustion engine 11.

[0047] In FIG. 5, an arrangement with a device 12 to be driven mechanically, for example, a genset with a generator 12 for electricity generation, and an internal combustion engine 11 which is connected thereto via a mechanical axle 15 in order to drive the device 12 is schematically represented. The internal combustion engine 11 is formed stationary and has more than six arrangements consisting of an embodiment of a spark plug connector and a spark plug 5.

[0048] FIG. 6 shows the effect of embodiments of the invention, namely, a significant reduction of the electromagnetic interference emission during the ignition of a spark plug (logarithmic representation).

[0049] Line 1 shows the interference emission with conventional interference suppression measures.

[0050] Line 2 shows the interference emission when one of the embodiments of a spark plug connector from the present disclosure is used. A lowering of the envelope of line 2 compared with the envelope of line 1 of from approximately 10 up to 30 db mV/m is recognized.

[0051] Line 3 shows the basic interference level without ignition, for comparison.
