Abstract
An organic fertilizer/plant food containing molasses to increase microorganism activity in soils. The molasses provides additional nutrients to the soil that are readily available for plant intake. The molasses provides sugars to increase microorganism activity to benefit soil structure before the slower process of microorganism break-down of other organic materials can occur. The molasses may be applied to the fertilizer mixture in various ways including by spraying.
Claims
1. An organic plant food/fertilizer, comprising, by weight percent: TABLE-US-00010 Organic plant based material 30-50% Organic animal based material 10-70% Minerals 1-30% Manure 0-50% Molasses 0.5-15% Other ingredients 0-15%.
2. The organic fertilizer of claim 1, wherein: Said other ingredients include plant oil.
3. The organic fertilizer of claim 1, further comprising: A fungi in an amount of 0-2% by weight.
4. The organic fertilizer of claim 1, wherein: Said minerals comprise a sulfate form of potassium and magnesium.
5. The organic fertilizer of claim 1, wherein: Said other ingredients comprise: lime, and water.
6. An organic soil fertilizer for enhanced plant development, comprising: organic rendered animal byproducts from about 10 weight percent to about 70 weight percent; organic plant material from about 0 weight percent to about 50 weight percent; and, a sugar from about 0.5 weight percent to about 8 weight percent.
7. The organic fertilizer of claim 6, further comprising: At least one added mineral in an amount from about 1 weight percent to about 30 weight percent.
8. The organic fertilizer of claim 6, wherein said plant material is a combination of soybean meal and wheat midds; and, said animal byproducts are meat, fish, blood, feather or bone meal.
9. The organic fertilizer of claim 6, further comprises at least one intentionally added microorganism.
10. The fertilizer of claim 9, wherein: the at least one intentionally added microorganism is mycorrhizal fungi.
11. The organic fertilizer of claim 6, wherein said sugar is in the form of molasses.
12. An organic fertilizer produced by a method comprising the steps of: mixing organic ingredients in a mixer to create a mash; heating molasses to a temperature of about 70 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit; and applying the molasses onto the mash so that 0.5 to 10 percent of the total weight of the resultant mixture is the molasses.
13. The organic fertilizer produced by the method of claim 12, further comprising the steps of: Pelletizing the mash and molasses mixture into pellets; and, cooling the pellets.
14. The organic fertilizer produced by the method of claim 12, wherein: the organic ingredients comprise the following: 3 to 50 percent of the total mixture by weight is plant meal; and 10 to 70 percent of the total mixture by weight is animal meal.
15. The organic fertilizer produced by the method of claim 12, further comprising: 1 to 10 percent of the total mixture weight comprises at least one of lime, plant oil, and water.
16. An organic plant food, comprising: Animal manure and molasses forming a mixture.
17. The organic plant food of claim 16, further comprising: Organic plant source compost included in the mixture.
18. The organic plant food of claim 17, further comprising: An added organic fungi or other microorganism material.
19. The organic plant food of claim 16, wherein the molasses is added in an amount of from about 0.5 weight percent to about 12 weight percent of the total mixture.
20. An organic fertilizer for plants and soil comprising: a mixture of at least about 40% by weight of organic matter (either plant or animal based); at least 0.5% by weight of molasses; and, at least 1% by weight of at least one added mineral.
