Abstract
A packaging apparatus forming a box with an integral product holder from a single biodegradable material. The box comprises a top flap, bottom flap, and side panels extending longitudinally therebetween, all the panels foldably connected such that the box substantially encloses a heavy object. The integral holder is preferably foldably connected to a side panel of the box to be placed within the box, and is sized such that the integral holder cradles the heavy object to prevent movement during shipment. Tabs are foldably connected to the integral holder and are adjacent to side panels to secure the position of the integral holder during transportation and storage.
Claims
1. A one-piece box to enclose and support a heavy object inside, the one-piece box comprising: a single blank having a top panel and a bottom panel, and four side panels extending longitudinally between the top panel and the bottom panel, all the panels foldably connected together to form the one-piece box for enclosing the heavy object; the single blank further having a single integral holding panel foldably connected to the one-piece box, foldable and insertable inside the one-piece box to support the heavy object; the single integral holding panel having a plurality of spaced apart cut-outs sized to receive the heavy object, and further having a plurality of spaced apart tabs foldable against the side panels of the one-piece box to support the single integral holder between the side panels.
2. The one-piece box of claim 1 further comprising a tab foldably connected to each of the plurality of spaced apart cut-outs of the single integral holder for further supporting the heavy object inside the one-piece box.
3. The one-piece box of claim 1 wherein the single integral holding panel comprises opposing generally triangular shaped holding panels foldably connected to each other.
4. The one-piece box of claim 1 wherein the single integral holding panel is foldably connected to one of the side panels.
5. The one-piece box of claim 4 wherein the single integral holding panel further comprises an inner panel between one of the side panels and the opposing generally triangular shaped holding panels, for extending the single integral holding panel inside the one-piece box.

Sixth inner tab 112 of first lid 96 is folded substantially at a right angle such that when first lid 96 is folded inward, sixth inner tab 112 slides behind second inner tab 28 and rests adjacent fourth panel 26. The closure tab 100 is folded away from the box 20.
