Abstract
A unit made in the shape of the palm with finger-like projection, used to cover the entire palm to prevent the spread of infection via hands.
Claims
1. A unit made in the shape of a palm from plastic material, to cover the palm, preventing the transfer of germs from objects to the palm.
Description
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
[0007] (1) The palm cover has 5 finger-like projections. Each projection corresponds to a specific finger on an individual's hand.
[0008] (2) On each finger-like projection are quarter circle marks that represents sticky lines that sticks the finger-like projections to the fingers.
[0009] (3) Surrounding the entire palm cover (the finger projections and sides of mid palm) is a sticky border that complete the sealing of the palm cover to the hand.
[0010] (4) There is a horseshoe junction between each finger that allows for free movement of each finger.
[0011] (5) There are 4 Lateral lines that run through the middle of the palm, starting from the middle of the horseshoe junction, downwards towards the middle of the wrist. All 4 lines merge at the middle of the wrist.
[0012] (6) All sticky lines are covered with tapes that protect the sticky integrity of the palm cover.
[0013] (7) At each end of the border is a piece of tape that extends towards the middle of the wrist, joining the merger of lines. These tapes do not cover any sticky line. The sole purpose of these extended tapes are to join all tape ends together, to facilitate removal of all tapes at one peel.
[0014] (8) At the mid-wrist point where all the tapes are joined is a little round notch. The notch is used to peel off the tape easily.
[0015] (9) The broken lines represents the end of the palm cover, and is a non sticky area.
[0016] (10) Above the broken lines, and between the 2 inwardly extended piece of tape, is a space. This space aids in the application of the palm cover to the palm.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0017] Palm cover covers the entire palm forming a barrier that will insulate germs that comes in contact with the inner hand. What is new and differences between this invention and its counterpath (gloves) is that it covers only the palm, and it is applied to the palm via adhesive. Gloves protect the entire hand, and is not totally necessary in many instances. For example, when opening a door or holding on to a subway pole, it is not necessary to have the back of the hand covered. A palm cover will provide the same protection with less material, provide better comfort, and is less conspicuous. It is specifically made to be worn outdoors to protect the inner hands from transferring germs from objects to oneself. Palm cover is made from thin plastic, durable enough to protect the palm, and firm enough for easy application to the palm. It is made in the shape of a palm with five finger-like projections. Surrounding each finger-like projection and the entire edge of the palm cover is a continuous sticky border that allows the palm cover to seal off each finger and palm from bacteria. There are 2 quarter circles in each finger-like projection, that allows the finger-like projections to attach to the finger when applying the palm cover. There are also 4 thin lateral sticky lines that run through the mid palm from the horseshoe area between the fingers, downwards towards the middle of the wrist. At mid-wrist, the 4 lateral lines merge with 2 pieces of tapes that extends inwards from the 2 ends of the border. Between the above mentioned two pieces of tapes and the edge of the wrist is a space. This space allows easy peeling of the tape when applying the palm cover to the palm. When applying the palm cover, a finger from one hand is placed in the space, while the other hand is use to pull on the notch to remove the tape. There is no sticky border at the wrist of the palm cover. When the palm cover is applied to the palm the wrist area is not seal to the individual's wrist the way the finger-like projections are sealed to the fingers. This allows for easy removal of a dirty palm cover. To remove the dirty palm cover, one or two fingers are placed between the palm and the palm cover, via the wrist, removing the dirty cover from the inside out, avoiding contact with the soiled area. To apply the palm cover to the palm, the tape is peeled away by placing one finger in the space provided above the edge of the wrist. And with the other hand, lift the notch to peel away tapes. Hands are place on the palm cover (mid palm to mid palm, pinky to pinky etc.). The horseshoe shape between the fingers that allow for flexibility of the fingers can be use as a guide for where the fingers should be. The palm cover will stick to the palm and fingers via the 4 thin sticky palm lines and the 2 sticky quarter circles on each finger. One will then use the other hand to seal the border of each finger-like projections to each finger, also sealing around the mid-palm area, thereby completely sealing the entire palmcover to the palm. Because a person can use one palm cover instead of two, palm covers are economically package in either all right hand covers, all left hand covers, or both right and left hand covers for those who wants to use both left and right palm covers.
[0018] The sizes of the palm cover will be a standard small, medium or large, as glove sizes go for male or female. Because a palm cover is not restrictive by design, and the objective is to prevent the direct contact of germs to the palm, one can use a palm cover comfortably, despite its exact fitting, as long as it accomplishes the job of preventing the direct contact of hands to germs. Moreover, one has the option of cutting off from the top of the finger projection, whatever length necessary to accommodate their finger size.
