DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0019] Referring to
[0020] In the embodiment, the motor is a universal motor. A stator of the motor comprises a stator core 41, stator windings 44 wound about teeth of the stator core 41, an end cap 43 mounted to the stator core 41, and a brush assembly 45 mounted to the end cap 43. In this embodiment, the diffuser 31 functions as another end cap of the motor. The diffuser 31 and end cap 43 are mounted to the axial ends of the stator core 41. The diffuser 31 has two projected mounting portions 38 for mounting diffuser 31 to the stator core 41. The rotor of the motor comprises a shaft, a commutator 51 fixed to the shaft, a rotor core and rotor windings (not shown in the figures). The shaft is mounted to the end cap 43 and the diffuser 31 via bearings such that the rotor may rotate relative to the stator.
[0021] The diameter of the diffuser 31 is slightly greater than that of the impeller 23. A plurality of guide holes 34a adjacent outlets of the impeller 23 are formed at the outer periphery of the diffuser 31. Air flowing out from the outlets of the impeller 23 flows from the impeller side of the diffuser 31 to the motor side of the diffuser 31 the guide holes 34a.
[0022] Referring to
[0023] The inlet edge 26e of each blade 26 forms an angle with the normal line L1 of the base 24 and forms an angle with the end surface of the base 24. The line L2 in the figure represents the imaging direction of the inlet edge 26e on the base 24. As the normal line L1 of the base is perpendicular to the line L2, the sum of the angle and the angle equals 90. Experiments show that the impeller 23 has good performance and high efficiency when the angle is in the range of 55 to 75 and the angle is accordingly in the range of 35 to 15.
[0024] Preferably, the angle is in the range of 62 to 70 and the angle is accordingly in the range of 28 to 20.
[0025] More preferably, the angle is in the range of 65 to 68 and the angle is accordingly in the range of 25 to 22.
[0026] Referring to
[0027] In the embodiment, the radius R2 of the second arc segment 26b is greater than the radius R1 of the first arc segment 26a.
[0028] Referring to
[0029] Referring to
[0030] The diffuser 31 includes plurality of passage walls 36 at the side facing the motor to bound the diffusing passages 34. Inner ends of the passage walls 36 are spaced from one another and define a space at the center of the diffuser 31. The two mounting portions 38 are respectively connected to the inner ends of two of passage walls 36 and diametrically opposite to each other. Each of the mounting portions 38 has a cylindrical surface 38a protrudes towards the center of the diffuser 31. The cylindrical surface 38a of each mounting portion 38 is connected to the corresponding one of the passage walls 36 with a smooth transition to avoid a throat occurring at the corresponding one of the diffusing passages 34 bounded by said one of the passage walls 36. Each of the corresponding passage walls 36 connected to the mounting portion 38 has a variable thickness, which gradually increases from the outer end to the inner end thereof. Therefore, each corresponding passage wall 36 together with the mounting portion 38 connect thereto has a raindrop-shaped contour, which helps to reduce the resistance of the air flow.
[0031] Referring to
[0032] Further, each of the mounting portions 38 defines a mounting hole 37, which enable each of the mounting portions 38 to mate with a fastener to fixed the diffuser to the motor. In the embodiment, the mounting holes 37 are located in the mounting recesses 39. During assembly, the fasteners 60, such as bolts or screws, pass through the mounting holes 37 of the mounting portions 38 and the stator core 41 to be fastened to the end cap 43 so as to fix the diffuser 31, the stator core 41 and the end cap 43 together.
[0033] In the description and claims of the present application, each of the verbs comprise, include, contain and have, and variations thereof, are used in an inclusive sense, to specify the presence of the stated item but not to exclude the presence of additional items.
[0034] Although the invention is described with reference to one or more preferred embodiments, it should be appreciated by those skilled in the art that various modifications are possible. Therefore, the scope of the invention is to be determined by reference to the claims that follow.
