    DETAILED DESCRIPTION

[0030] Detailed descriptions of the preferred embodiment are provided herein. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.

[0031] Hand-powered sanding tools have been utilized for a number of years in the construction and finishing industries. For instance, it is well-known to attach sandpaper to a sanding block for ease of sanding. In simplest terms, such a sanding block would typically include a rectangular gripping block with slits (or clamps) on each end for securing a sheet of sandpaper. Because sandpaper wears out quickly and because it is easily subject to ripping and tearing, more advanced sanding blocks provide an easy method of attaching and removing the sandpaper to facilitate sandpaper replacement.

[0032] The current invention as per its preferred embodiments provides a hand-held sanding tool that assists the user to perform the sanding job in an effective manner.

[0033] As shown in FIG. 1-5 the device is a piece of 2 inches of PVC pipe cut lengthways in half measuring 12 inches and is joined together by 2 metal hinges that allow the sanding device to open and close.

[0034] As per further embodiments, there are 2 rubber sheets 6 in?2? inches used for the application of the sanding adhesive placed adjacent to one another on the inside of each piece of PVC running length way and secured to PVC by two fasteners that also attach hinges to the PVC. Located under the rubber sheet on the upper piece of PVC on the left-hand side is a removable piece of fabricated metal. The metal is inset to fit the inner arc of the PVC flush with the ridge to help remove rust or other unwanted debris on a work surface.

[0035] As per further embodiments, located on the top half of the upper piece of PVC is a black handle mounted on the center line secured by 2 bolts placed 3 inches inwards on each side. Furthermore, a Velcro hook and loop strap is fastened in the center of the bottom piece of PVC flush with the top ridge to help secure the sanding device around a designated working surface.

[0036] By looking at FIG. 1, multiple configurations of assembly can be understood. The assembly as shown in FIG. 1 includes a locknut (1), PVC pipe (2), hook and loop Velcro strap (3). The rubber sheet (4) is provided between the PVC pipe (2). A handle (5) is provided to provide portability of assembly.

[0037] As shown in FIG. 2, further details of the assembly can be understood. FIG. 02 as per its further embodiments shows the hinge structure (6) aligned between the PVC pipes for ease of opening and closing. The sandpaper (7) is laid on the inner end of PVC pipes (2).

[0038] Skilled artisans will appreciate those elements in the figures are illustrated for simplicity and clarity and have not necessarily been drawn to scale. For example, the dimensions of some of the elements in the figures may be exaggerated relative to other elements to help to improve understanding of embodiments of the present invention.

[0039] The apparatus and method components have been represented where appropriate by conventional symbols in the drawings, showing only those specific details that are pertinent to understanding the embodiments of the present invention so as not to obscure the disclosure with details that will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art having the benefit of the description herein.

[0040] While a specific embodiment has been shown and described, many variations are possible. With time, additional features may be employed. The particular shape or configuration of the platform or the interior configuration may be changed to suit the system or equipment with which it is used.

[0041] Having described the invention in detail, those skilled in the art will appreciate that modifications may be made to the invention without departing from its spirit. Therefore, it is not intended that the scope of the invention be limited to the specific embodiment illustrated and described. Rather, it is intended that the scope of this invention be determined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
