Description

[0034] The present invention is hereafter elucidated with reference to the attached drawings, wherein:

[0035] FIG. 1 shows a roll of wrapping material;

[0036] FIG. 2 shows a partially unrolled wrapping material roll;

[0037] FIGS. 3-7 show various folding configurations for a longitudinal end of a partially rolled sheet of wrapping material.

[0038] Throughout the figures, like elements are referred to using like reference numerals.

[0039] In FIG. 1 an embodiment of a roll of a wrapping material packaging 1 is depicted. The wrapping material packaging 1 comprises a sheet 10 rolled concentrically about an axis R such that a longitudinal end 20 of the sheet 10 is located along a circumferential side 11 of the wrapping material roll 1. The dimension indicative for the length of the circumference of the roll is indicated by C. A seal 30 is used to secure the longitudinal end 20 to the circumferential side 11.

[0040] In FIG. 2 a sheet 10, in particular the longitudinal end 20 thereof, is partially unrolled. The sheet 10 is dimensioned as having a length L and a width W in respectively a longitudinal and a lateral direction. The axis R about which the sheet 10 is rolled is parallel to the direction of the width W of the sheet 10.

[0041] The sheet 10 is rolled such that, when rolled, an outer surface 12 of the sheet 10 is facing radially outwards with respect to the axis R and the inner surface 13 is facing radially inwards with respect to the axis R.

[0042] In FIG. 3 at least a part of the longitudinal end 20 is folded along a folding line 20a over at least part of the width W toward the inner surface 13 of the sheet 10. The extent of the folding line 20a in the length direction (as indicated by L in FIG. 2) is indicated by F. The folding line 20a is at a folding angle ? with respect to the width W direction. When the sheet 10 is fully rolled, as represented in FIG. 1, the folding line 20a extends circumferentially over all of the circumferential side 11, as indicated by F with respect to the length of the circumference C indicated in FIG. 3 for illustration.

[0043] The folding line 20a in FIG. 3 extends from a folding point 20b along a longitudinal edge 14 of the longitudinal end 20 to a lateral edge 15 of the sheet 10. Although in FIG. 3 the folding point 20b is shown to be located centrally with respect to the width W of the sheet 10, i.e. at equal distances d1, d2 from the lateral edges 15, 16 of the sheet 10, the folding point 20b may be alternatively located adjacent, or even coincide with, one of the lateral edges 16, as shown in FIG. 6.

[0044] In FIG. 4, a first part 21 of the longitudinal end 20 is folded along a first folding line 21a extending from the longitudinal edge 14 to the first lateral edge 15 of the sheet 10. A second part 22 of the longitudinal end 20 is folded along a second folding line 22a extending from the longitudinal edge 14 to the second lateral edge 16. The first folding line 21a is arranged at a first folding angle ?1 with respect to the width W direction and the second folding line 22a is arranged at a second folding angle ?2 with respect to the width W direction. The first folding angle ?1 is shown equal to the second folding angle ?2. Alternatively, the folding angles ?1, ?2 may differ. In both cases, the extent of the folding lines in the length L direction (indicated by F in FIG. 3) may be equal. The folding lines 21a, 22a extend from a single folding point 20b along the longitudinal edge 14 such that the longitudinal end is V-shaped. In the folding configuration shown in FIG. 5, the first folding line 21a extends from a first folding point 21b along the longitudinal edge 14 and the second folding line 22a extends from a second folding point 22b along the longitudinal edge 14, wherein the first folding point 21b and the second folding point 22b are spaced at a distance d3 such that the longitudinal end 20 is U-shaped.

[0045] A further preferred embodiment is shown in FIG. 7. Two parts 21, 22 of the longitudinal end 20 are folded along respective folding lines 21a, 22a at equal folding angles ?1, ?2. The folding lines 21a, 22a extend from respectively a first folding point 21b at a first distance d1 from a first lateral edge 15 of the sheet 10 and a second folding point 22b at a second distance d2 from a second lateral edge 16 of the sheet, wherein the distances d1, d2 differ. Furthermore, the folding points 21b, 22b are spaced at a distance d3. The folding lines 21a, 22a extend over differing lengths of the sheet 10, indicated respectively by F1 and F2.

[0046] The above description of the attached drawings is provided merely for illustrative purposes to contribute to comprehension of the present invention, and is not intended to limit the scope of the appended claims in any way or form.
