GREETING CARD ENVELOPE

Abstract

A greeting card envelope is provided. The greeting card envelope has a front and a back wherein both the front and the back (through the normal interior pouch) are capable of securing a greeting card. In particular, the front of the envelope may have a first and second securing strip for temporarily holding a greeting card for display and or for easy access and wherein the back of the greeting card envelope may secure the greeting card in a normal manner with a movable securing flap. A user may select between securing the greeting card on the front of the envelope or in the traditional manner on the back of the envelope. Further, a user may even secure two greeting cards with the same envelope.

Claims

1) A greeting card envelope comprising: a housing having a top, a bottom, a front, a back, a first side and a second side; a generally hollow interior for receiving a greeting card; wherein the back of the housing has a movable securing flap which is capable of allowing the insertion of the greeting card into the generally hollow interior and wherein the movable securing flap may be secured to the back of the housing; and a first securing strip and a second securing strip wherein the first securing strip and the second securing strip are located on the front of the housing and wherein the first securing strip and the second securing strip together are capable of temporarily securing the greeting card to the front of the housing.

2) The greeting card envelope of claim 1 wherein the first securing strip and second securing strip are secured to the bottom of the housing and not secured to the top of the housing.

3) The greeting card envelope of claim 1 wherein the greeting card may be secured on the front of the housing or within the generally hollow interior of the housing.

4) The greeting card envelope of claim 1 further comprising: a distance between the first securing strip and the second securing strip wherein the distance is less than a length of the greeting card.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0020] A greeting card envelope is provided. The greeting card envelope has a front and a back wherein both the front and the back (through the normal interior pouch) are capable of securing a greeting card. In particular, the front of the envelope may have a first and second securing strip for temporarily holding a greeting card for display and or for easy access and wherein the back of the greeting card envelope may secure the greeting card in a normal manner with a movable securing flap. A user may select between securing the greeting card on the front of the envelope or in the traditional manner on the back of the envelope. Further, a user may even secure two greeting cards with the same envelope.

[0021] Referring first to FIG. 1, in an embodiment, a greeting card envelope 1 is provided. The greeting card envelope 1 has a back 3, a front 4, a first side 5, a second side 6, a top 7, a bottom 8 and an interior 2. A standard securing flap 20 may be located on the back 3 of the envelope 1.

[0022] Referring to FIG. 2, the front 4 of the envelope 1 may have a first securing strip 16 and a second strip 15 wherein the first securing strip 16 is located on the first side 5 of the envelope 1 and wherein the second securing strip 15 is located on the second side 6 of the envelope 1. In an embodiment, the first securing strip 16 and the second securing strip 15 may be secured to the envelope 1 at the sides (5, 6) and also secured at the bottom 8 of the envelope 1, but may not be secured at the top 7 of the envelope 1 and may not be secured to the envelope 1 along the securing strips 15, 16 interior side 63. As a result, the first securing strip 16 and second securing strip 15 may act as a compartment (or pocket) for temporarily securing a greeting card 50 to the front 4 of the envelope 1 as is shown in FIG. 2.

[0023] More specifically, a gap 18 having a small width 19 may be located at the top 7 of the greeting card 1 and may allow the greeting card 50 to be temporarily secured to the front 4 of the envelope 1 without the need to seal or otherwise secure the greeting card 50 within the interior 2 of the envelope 1.

[0024] In an embodiment, the greeting card 50 may have a length 25 (FIG. 4) which is slightly less than the length of the greeting card envelope 1 (the distance between the first side 5 and the second side 6 of the envelope 1). As a result, the greeting card 50 may be snugly inserted into the envelope 1. Further, a distance 26 (FIG. 4) between the interior sides 63 of the first securing strip 16 and the second securing strip 15 may be less than the length 25 of the greeting card 50 such that the first securing strip 16 and second securing strip 15 prevents the greeting card 50 from being separated from the front 4 of the greeting card 1 (except for being able to be removed through the gap 18 at the top 7 of the envelope 1).

[0025] Referring now to FIGS. 5-8, in an embodiment, the greeting card 50 may be temporarily secured in a pocket 60 located on the front 4 of the greeting card envelope 1 (wherein the pocket is created by the first securing strip 16 and second securing strip 15 and the bottom 8 of the envelope 1). In the alternative, a user may elect to lift the flap 20 of the back 3 of the envelope and insert the greeting card 50 in the traditional pouch area 75 (FIG. 7) of the envelope 1. As a result, a user may first store the greeting card 50 on the front 4 of the envelope 1 and either hand deliver the card and envelope to a person in that manner (FIG. 2) or the person may insert the greeting card 50 in the traditional pocket 75 and may deliver or mail the envelope 1 in the normal manner. Further, an advantage of the present greeting card envelope 1 in an embodiment is that the present greeting card envelope 1 may secure two different greeting cards 50, one on the front 4 and on in the normal interior.

[0026] In an alternative embodiment (not shown, but easily understood), the greeting card envelope 1 lacks the traditional pouch 75 on the back 3 of the envelope 1 and only has the pocket 60 on the front 4 of the envelope 1 (and thus, lacks the traditional pocket 75 and securing flap 20 of the back 3).
