Abstract

Disclosed is a topical composition for the treatment of hirsutism comprising capryloyl glycine as active ingredient, mixed with dermatologically acceptable carriers.

Claims

1. A topical anti-hirsutism composition comprising capryloyl glycine as active ingredient in admixture with dermatologically acceptable excipients.

2. A composition according to claim 1 further comprising one or more active ingredients selected from extracts of Curcuma longa, soy, Gymnema sylvestre, eflornithine.

3. A composition according to claim 2 comprising soy extracts.

4. A composition according to claim 1 in the form of gel, cream, foam, ointment, lotion, spray, liquid.

5. A composition according to claim 1 wherein capryloyl glycine is present in concentrations of 1 to 20% by weight.

6. Method of inhibiting growth of hair on a body in need thereof with the composition according to claim 1, said method comprising applying said composition to said body.

7. The method according to claim 6 to inhibit the growth of hair on the face.

8. A cosmetic method for inhibiting the growth of hair on a body, said method comprising applying to said body a composition comprising capryloyl glycine at concentrations of 1 to 20% by weight.

EXAMPLE 4

[0043] The ability of capryloyl glycine to inhibit the growth of superfluous hair was evaluated by the Trichoscan method (http://trichoscan.com/pages/english/professional-info/reference-values.php). A 10% capryloyl glycine cream proved to have an efficacy comparable to that of eflornithine, reported in Eur. J Dermatol 2008; 18 (1): 65-70.
