ONE-PIECE PHYSICAL EXERCISE GARMENT FOR WOMEN THAT INCORPORATES A BRA, TORSO PIECE, AND PANT, HAS THE APPEARANCE OF MULTIPLE PIECES OF CLOTHING, DOES NOT REQUIRE ADJUSTMENT AS A RESULT OF THE USER MOVING OR EXERCISING, AND CAN BE PUT ON OR TAKEN OFF BY THE USER IN A MANNER SIMILAR TO A ONE-PIECE SWIMSUIT

Abstract

A one-piece garment for use in physical exercise that appears to be three separate pieces of clothing and permits movement without requiring the user to adjust the fit of the garment as a result of the user's movement. The top of the torso piece is affixed to a bra and the bottom of the torso piece is affixed to a waistband which is in turn affixed to a pant, in each case to assist with avoiding the need to adjust the garment during exercise or other movement while maintaining coverage of the abdomen and the rest of the torso. The user can put on or take the garment off with ease similar to that of a one-piece swimsuit. The garment does not require the use of uncomfortable protrusive fasteners and avoids the need for the skin-tight or excessively loose appearance of typical one-piece exercise garments.

Claims

1. An exercise garment, comprising: a torso piece; a bra affixed to said torso piece by at least one fastening mechanism; an inner waistband panel and an outer waistband panel attached to form a waistband panel; and pant legs which are attached circumferentially to both the inner and outer waistband panels at the bottom of said panels.

2. The exercise garment according to claim 1, wherein said torso piece is affixed to said bra by at least one fastening mechanism.

3. The exercise garment according to claim 1, wherein said bra includes an elastic band circumferentially at the bottom of said bra.

4. The exercise garment according to claim 3, wherein said bra includes elastic bands attached at the back of said bra and going over each of the user's shoulders to attach at the top of the front part of said bra.

5. The exercise garment according to claim 4, wherein said elastic bands attached to said bra are not attached to one another.

6. The exercise garment according to claim 2, wherein said torso piece is circumferentially affixed to the top of said waistband panel by at least one fastening mechanism.

7. The exercise garment according to claim 1, wherein said waistband panel includes an elastic band circumferentially connected at the top of said waistband.

8. The exercise garment according to claim 7, wherein the inner panel of said waistband is formed of compression fabric and not visible from the external view of said exercise garment.

9. The exercise garment according to claim 1, wherein said torso piece is formed of synthetic, four-way stretch fabric.

[0018] One embodiment of the present invention will now be described by referencing the drawings. FIG. 1 depicts the external front of the present invention. FIG. 1 illustrates how the present invention is designed to appear as three separate articles of clothing: a bra, a torso piece, and a pant. The torso piece (2) is attached to the bra (1) at the front neckline (2A), the torso piece is attached to the waistband (3) at the top of the waistband (3A), and the waistband is attached to the pant (4) at the bottom of the waistband (3B). Each element of the garment, including the bra, torso piece, and pant is sewn together to create a one-piece physical exercise garment. The torso piece (2) is gathered to clear elastic at the front neckline (2A) and at the top of the waistband (3A) with single needle, then layers are serged. The top of the waistband (3A) also uses elastic to allow for a snug fit around the waist. This eliminates typical one-piece garment issues of fabric between legs pulling uncomfortably when the top of the one-piece garment is stretched upward. The waistband structure along with the structure of the bra keep the garment securely in place when worn. The external fabric of the waistband helps give the appearance that the torso piece and pant are separate pieces. In FIG. 1 the outer panel of the waistband and the torso piece are the same fabric. The waistband and the torso piece do not have to exactly match to give the appearance that the torso piece and pant are separate garments.

[0019] FIG. 2 illustrates the external back view of one embodiment of the present invention. The torso piece (2) is attached to the bra (1) at the bottom of the bra (2B), to the waistband (3) at the top of the waistband (3A), and to the pant (4) at the bottom of the waistband (3B). The criss-crossed straps (1A) are comprised of fabric folded over elastic and then coverstitched. The straps are not fastened to each other, which allows for space for the wearer of the garment to step into and remove the garment without the use of clasps, zippers, or other protrusions.

[0020] FIG. 3 illustrates the internal view of the front of one embodiment of the present invention. The straps (1A) are serged into the neckline (1B). The bra elastic around the chest (1E) is exposed elastic. The exposed elastic around the chest allows for enough stretch to fit over the wearer's hips when putting on and removing the garment while also allowing for a tight enough fit around the chest to provide support when the garment is in use. For added stability in the bra (1), clear elastic is sewn in flat to the bra underarm (1D) and the lining is serged to the outer bra panel.

As shown in FIG. 3 and FIG. 4 the internal panel of fabric of the waistband (3C) is the same fabric as the pant (4). FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 illustrate that the external panel of the waistband (3) is the same fabric as the torso piece (2). The internal fabric of the waistband provides structure while the external fabric provides the appearance of being part of the torso piece.

[0022] FIG. 5 shows the right side of one embodiment of the present invention. The left side is not shown, but is the mirror image of the right side. The bra (1) and the torso piece (2) are not attached below the arm (2C). The exposed skin below the bra adds to the appearance of a separate bra and torso piece. The exposed skin below the bra also allows for more ease when putting on and removing the garment. The torso piece and bra are only connected at the front neckline (2A) and the bottom of the back of the bra (2B), allowing for more range of motion and ease of use.

[0023] The advantages of the present invention are numerous. Different implementations may yield one or more of the advantages described herein. One advantage of the present invention is that it stays in place during exercise or other movement without the need for adjustment by the wearer. Another advantage of the present invention is that it gives the appearance of separate garments and therefore could be more aesthetically appealing than the skin-tight or loose, baggy alternatives currently offered on the market. Another advantage is that the invention incorporates each piece of clothing traditionally required for a woman's exercise routinea bra, torso piece, and pant.

[0024] Although construction of the present invention has been described herein with reference to preferred embodiments, it will be readily apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art that other constructions may perform similar functions and/or achieve similar results. While the present invention has been described herein with no need of zippers, clasps or other protrusions, it is apparent that these types of bindings could be added to the garment for appearance and/or functionality.
