Abstract
A floor cleaning device and method includes a mop head including a plurality of cleaning fibers, a corner brush coupled to an extendable member and extendable from a center of the mop head, and a telescoping handle including a knob for engaging and disengaging a locking mechanism for locking the corner brush in position. The floor cleaning device and method is useful for cleaning hard to reach areas of floors without the need for excessive bending or hand scrubbing.
Claims
1. A floor cleaning device, the device comprising: a mop head including a plurality of cleaning fibers; a corner brush coupled to an extendable member and extendable from the center of a mop head; and a telescoping handle including a knob for engaging and disengaging a locking mechanism for locking the corner brush in a desired position.
2. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are constructed of an absorbent material.
3. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers is shorter in length than the extendable member.
4. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the extendable member is longer than the plurality of cleaning fibers.
5. The floor cleaning device of claim 4, wherein the extendable member is contained within the telescoping handle.
6. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the extendable member is extended through an aperture located at the center of the mop head.
7. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the corner brush includes a plurality of cleaning fibers.
8. The floor cleaning device of claim 7, wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are constructed of an absorbent material.
9. The floor cleaning device of claim 8, wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are arranged in a triangular shape to facilitate reaching the corner of two abutting walls.
10. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the corner brush is positioned at an angle relative to the telescoping handle to facilitate comfortable use.
11. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the telescoping handle includes an outer, stationary handle.
12. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the telescoping handle includes an inner-extendable handle.
13. The floor cleaning device of claim 12, wherein the inner-extendable handle is affixed to the extendable member.
14. The floor cleaning device of claim 1, wherein the telescoping handle includes a locking mechanism positionable between a plurality of modes.
15. The floor cleaning device of claim 14, wherein the plurality of modes includes an extended mode and a retracted mode.
16. The floor cleaning device of claim 14, wherein the locking mechanism is engagable by means of twisting the knob.
17. A floor cleaning device for cleaning tight corner spaces, the device comprising: a mop head including a plurality of cleaning fibers, a corner brush coupled to an extendable member and extendable from the center of a mop head, and a telescoping handle including a knob for engaging and disengaging a locking mechanism for locking the corner brush in a desired positioning; wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are constructed of an absorbent material; wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers is shorter in length than the extendable member; wherein the extendable member is contained within the telescoping handle; wherein the extendable member is extended through an aperture located at a center of the mop head; wherein the corner brush includes a plurality of cleaning fibers; wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are constructed of an absorbent material; wherein the plurality of cleaning fibers are arranged in a triangular shape to facilitate reaching the corner of two abutting walls; wherein the corner brush is positioned at an angle relative to the telescoping handle to facilitate comfortable use; wherein the telescoping handle includes an outer, stationary handle; wherein the telescoping handle includes an inner-extendable handle; wherein the inner-extendable handle is affixed to the extendable member; wherein the telescoping handle includes a locking mechanism positionable between a plurality of modes; wherein the plurality of modes includes an extended mode and a retracted mode; and wherein the locking mechanism is engageable by method of twisting the knob.
18. The device of claim 17, further comprising set of instructions; and wherein the device is arranged as a kit.
19. A method of effectively cleaning a floor, the method comprising the steps of: mopping a floor with the mop head until a user encounters a corner; twisting a knob to disengage a locking mechanism; extending an inner-extendable handle to position a corner brush in an extended position; twisting the knob to engage the locking mechanism; and cleaning a corner using the corner brush.

The method of claim 19, further comprising the steps of: twisting the locking mechanism via the knob to disengage the locking mechanism; retracting the inner-extendable handle to position the corner brush in a retracted position; twisting the locking mechanism via the knob to engage the locking mechanism.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0018] As discussed above, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to mops and heads and more particularly to a floor cleaning device as used to improve the effectively clean hard-to-reach areas of a floor and adjacent surfaces.
[0019] Generally, the floor cleaning device may include a swab mop, a corner brush, a brush extension and retraction mechanism and a handle. The corner brush may be configured to extend from and retract into the handle. The corner brush may further be configured to extend to an approximate length of twelve to eighteen inches.
